1700AD Scenario Development Thread

As discussed in another thread, only Prussia should have Rifling in the beginning of the 1700 scenario.

I know.. but it's just.. weird :crazyeye:
Maybe it's weird only because I'm not familiar with that haha.
By the way, is it a good city location? Because I never settle there..

It also happens in Denmark, where Copenhagen is on a separate island from Jutland. And Japan is also made into one giant island for playability. Same with the Philippines. And Tierra del Fuego is also merged with South America. It happens quite a bit in RFC.

Civs from the start that can still win their UHV: Persia, Japan, France, England, Congo, Netherlands, Germany. The others start with all goals failed.

How about Liverpool or Newcastle? Seems the British Island is a little empty now.

I'm pretty sure I've seen the AI found Newcastle before. It's either on the deer north of London or another tile north of that. Liverpool I don't think I've ever seen.

The AI found Newcatle reasonably often. The spot that Liverpool would be on IRL is called Manchester in the game (lots of rivalry there). :)

Also the spot that should probably be called Carlisle (one N of Manchester) is just called Manchester in the game ... and is Cardiff or Swansea etc (IRL) still called Bath? Always thought that was really odd - maybe Rhye was a Jane Austen fan with a strange sense of geographical accuracy?

I saw liverpool once about a year and a half ago. France got culture-f***ed, believe it or not.

I prefer that the goals before 1700 counted as "failed", and goals after 1700 counted as "not yet". Because the Golden Age when you finish 2 goals will be useful for your game, even when you try to win another kind of victory.

Unless I'm forgetting something, all civs that cannot win their UHV would start with two goals failed then anyway.

Er... I'd say Russia ...

And maybe Siam and Turkey? This two both have 1 goal before 1700AD, 1 goal in 1700AD, and 1 goal after 1700AD.

Oh, good point.

Frankfurt and Hamburg shouldn't be under Prussian control. Hamburg should go to Sweden or Britain and Frankfurt should be Independent.

To what end? Both cities are inside Prussia's flip zone.

Those cities are in Prussia's flip zone to push out whatever holdings the A.I has in Germany proper from the past few millenia. Since we are starting in 1700 we don't need to worry about that and have this 173 years early German Empire.

If not already Prussian, Hamburg and Frankfurt should both be independent (free imperial cities) and starting at war with Prussia. Also, Hamburg could start at war with Sweden, to make things interesting.

Am I the only one who prefers Kiel over Copenhagen + Hamburg?

I think one decent city in the middle (Kiel) represents the conflict between Scandinavian and German interests in the region better, than two awful cities close together on either side (Copenhagen + Hamburg).

That would cripple Prussia...so I disagree completelly.
I'm not sure you understood me.

How does replacing 2 awful cities with a decent one cripple a civ? I would WB both Hamburg and Copenhagen out and replace them with Kiel if I ever play Prussia in the 1700AD Scenario, and I admit it's a form of cheating because it makes Prussia stronger.

Please explain further your idea.
