King Romulus, was bored. His carriage and escort and been riding for several hours through the recently conquered Roman lands in the South. He was heading to a site that has been suggested by his engineers as a perfect place to found another city. Construction of the new city started 2 months ago on his approval. He thought about his kingdom and wondered why it was so hard to conquer such a peaceful countryside. He then thought about a possible name for this new city, so far he has decided on between two, Capua or Vienna, both have wonderfull meanings and could help bring Rome to glory, especially if we put a trading dock there. The convoy slowed down as they started down a hill, one of the guards came slowed up more until he came besides the King and bowed, "Sir, we are almost there. Just another hour." The king sighed and fell back into his seat and closed the curtains. He wished he could sleep but the ground is too bumpy and it makes the carriage jolt all over the place. He grumbled and made a promise to himself, "I will build roads, paved roads to make this job easier on the body."
Despite the bumpy ride he still fell alseep. He was awakened by his guard who said that they have entered the fort built by his army who is still in the south.
"Finally." King Romulus said as he straightened himself up. The carriage stopped and the door opened, as King Romulus got out he saw row upon row of soldiers lined up side by side standing at attention and saluting as he passed by. When he got to the end of the line he saw his engineers and their crews standing waiting for the chance to speak with him.
The Chief Engineer, Valerius, came foward and saluted, "Sir, we are glad to see you here. As you can see the city is forming up nicely, we have housing and merchant buildings built, we have started on a dock just over there." He pointed as the King looked, he saw several wood piles and men working nearby. "The city is almost done, already you can see people moving in and merchants hard at work. With the dock done this city will grow to match the size and wealth of Rome." He chuckled. King Romulus looked at the city from the rafters of the fort and said, "I want to see the city, take me there."
With an escort the king walked around the city looking at the buildings and marveling at how fast the engineers and their crews built these. With the grand tour done, the king went to the center of town where the Forum will stand. Across from the plaza stands the town hall. He stood up on the platform and watched the people mingle before raising his hand, with the people suddenly quiet the king spoke,
"Citizens of Rome, I come here to found a new city and give it a name. First I applaud our fantastic military who conquered this land making it possible for us to build this city. Second I applaud the engineers and their crews for contructing the city and making our dreams come true. Thirdly I applaud the people who settle here and help make this city a dominant force to be reckoned with on the Mediternean. Citizens, with every new city that is founded, we are one step closer to becoming an unified nation. With every city that is founded our population expands, making us richer and more powerfull than those who do not expand. I shall name this grand city... Capua." He paused to allow the people to clap. "I, King Romulus, thank everyone for making the dreams of myself and of Rome come true and I look foward to future expansions and prosperity from Rome. I owe you my gratitude." The king bowed to the people as he said the last few words. The crowed clapped and cheered as King Romulus got of the platform and headed back to the fort with his escort.
