The Ducks!

If they had a terrible team with no future, it would be funny. But with some of the greatest prospects in the league already playing for them, the Ducks are no joke!

Nice updates SuBI! You couldn't wait for me to end my shift at the airport could you?! :p ;)

Obviously I couldn't. :p

I was quite dissapointed when I had to go to NHL.com and find out who won for myself. :p

Roberto Luongo
Lukas Krajicek
2006 6th round draft pick

Now that's huge!
I'm a little bit surprized to see Luongo go for Bert and the other guys. I tought his value was higher than that (even with his contractual situation). Oh well!

In case some of you don't know the Hockey Data Base yet, do yourself a favor and check it out. Here are each player's stats page:

Todd Bertuzzi

Alex Auld Fun fact: he was drafted by the Panthers.

Bryan Allen

Roberto Luongo

Chris Pronger wants out of Edmonton!

Spoiler :

The Edmonton Oilers are in the midst of what could be a severe shakeup to their roster just days after their Game 7 Stanley Cup Final loss.

NHL sources indicate that Oilers' defenceman Chris Pronger has requested a trade from the club based on "personal, family considerations."

"I think they're more rumblings than anything," Oilers GM Kevin Lowe responded Friday evening. "I'm pretty focused on the draft right now I don't want to get too much into player personnel stuff."

When asked if Pronger had asked to be traded, Lowe responded: "He hasn't' asked me. I'll just leave it at that."

"We just got over a seven-game series in the Stanley Cup finals and there seems to be a lot of discussion about this and I'm not sure where it's coming from," added Lowe. "Let's put it this way. Why would we want to trade Chris Pronger?"

"One thing I've learned in my five or six years as a manager is that stuff tends to out of right field for whatever reasons. It can be agendas, hidden agendas, certain motivations, so nothing surprises me."

However, agent Pat Morris told TSN a trade request has now been made on behalf of his client.

In 80 games with the Oilers this season, Pronger scored 12 goals and 56 points and was a Conn Smythe Trophy candidate through Edmonton's postseason run.

Pronger finished third in postseason scoring with five goals and 16 assists in 24 games.

The St. Louis Blues traded Pronger to Edmonton last August for defencemen Eric Brewer, Doug Lynch and Jeff Woywitka. The veteran defenceman is entering the second year of a five-year contract worth $6.25 million US per year.

Pronger, 31, has played in four NHL all-star games and is a three-time Olympian. The six-foot-six native of Dryden, Ont., has 456 points including 106 goals in 802 NHL games. He won the Hart and Norris trophies in 2000, and was the first player to do so since Bobby Orr in 1972.

He was the No. 2 pick by Hartford in the 1993 NHL Draft and played two seasons with the Whalers before being dealt to the St. Louis Blues for forward Brendan Shanahan.

I hope Gainey is listening...

Speaking of wild speculation I would love to see Pronger in a Wild uniform, but I won't hold my breath.

The Wild have repeatedly said that this is the off-season they open up their wallets and add some veteran talent. Since they are almost 20 million under the new cap they have a lot of money to play with. We'll see...

It will be interesting to see if Bertuzzi can get it together in Florida. He pretty much floated his way through most of last season, I think he may be becomming a bit of a head case. It looked like he wasn't really into the game. Bryan Allen and Alex Auld are useful role players. Auld especially showed himself to be at least a top tier backup goalie, he was one few parts of Vancouver that wasn't broken this year (along with the Sedin line). That said, it looks to me to be a high risk trade for Florida that may have a big payoff if Bertuzzi can get back into form but will be a huge mistake if he can't. Maybe it was the best they thought they could get.

It is a good trade for Vancouver.

So Cloutier will back up Luongo? That is a lot of money to spend on a back up goalie. Obviously the Canucks will try to trade him, the question is whether anyone wants him given the size of his contract and track record.

Don't forget, the Canucks also have Noronen, so they currently have 3 goaltenders. Either Cloutier or Noronen is out of there.

Good job SuBI! :goodjob:

Tanguay for Leopold and a pick is a good trade for both teams. Tanguay is a very good hockey player and I predict that he'll score at least 100 pts easily with Iginla on his side. Leopold is also a very talented young player. I guess for now he's cheaper than Alex for Denver's already tight payroll.

The Kings received an awesome prospect in Patrick O'Sullivan in the Demitra trade. In his first pro-career in the AHL's Houston Areos, he scored 47 goals and tallied 93 points. His offensive talents will be used a lot more in LA than in Minnesota under the Lemaire regime. He'll be someone to watch next season. Possible Calder winner.

Oh! And congratulations to the Calgary Flames for drafting Napoleon Dynamite!

Pavol Demitra
The more I think about it on the whole I think this trade is a positive for Minnesota. Demitra had great chemistry with Gaborik on the Slovak team's first line. The inability to score goals and the general lack of offensively talented players has been the Wild's biggest issue and this was a step towards solving that.

I was really looking forward to seeing O'Sullivan play here, he is a top tier prospect. But still, he is just a prospect - until he actually plays in the NHL he is unproven. The Wild have a lot of good prospects and young players, what they need are a few proven veteran players who are already good now. And that is what Demitra is.

This will also help with the resigning of Gaborik which was starting to look iffy.
