2011 MLB Thread

I think the Phillies wont care that the Braves and Nationals will fight over the division in 4 years, if they win a World Series THIS season.

I'm looking forward to those Nats in 4 years.

The Giants had to do something and after Pence Beltran was probably the best impact guy they could land. Their best hitter is Huff, what with his .244 AVG, and they already have a top of the line rotation for the next few years. They could afford to lose a pitching prospect for a guy who, while perhaps over the hill career wise, is doing well this year and therefore probably a fine choice as a 2 month rental.

For the worst offense in the league, even Carlos Beltran is an improvement. Look at it that way.
that's all well and good to look at it like that for, say, someone like the brewers or the diamondbacks. but defending WS champs? not so much. pence would have looked far better in that uni than beltran. but who am i to say that? :) he's a philadelphia phillie.

It was Grateful Dead night last night, I had a great time hanging out with my dad and all his deadhead friends at the game. Got to hear Bobby and Phil sing the national anthem and also hang out with Bill Walton. Not only that, but Bumgarner had a stellar, shutout start, and the Giants offense woke the eff up! Stewart got his first career homerun, Huff had a great night. I just wish all the games could be this fun to watch.

Ivan Nova takes the lead for most wins by a rookie pitcher :D

Still a long way to go, but I have to say that the Brewers look like they'll take the NL central, unfortunately.... :(

hey, maybe now the giants can get their payback against scott cousins this weekend! ramon ramirez! are you ready! eli whiteside!

Probably hit the third base or pitching coach :mischief: as retribution. :D

Just not the bat boy please.

Jim Thome got to 600 last night...a true Indian til the end, he made sure to do it against the Tigers :). What a great accomplishment for one of the nicest guys in baseball. Little League downtown tried to emulate his batting stance and style. Congrats, and we'll see you in the HoF (hopefully with a Tribe cap)!

I think we're done in the NL Central. Cards aren't good enough to keep up with the sort of streak the Brewers have put together, and while I really don't think they're that good and will be back to struggling soon enough, a 0.500 record through the rest of the season should be enough to let them take the division.

Finding it hard to get that interested in the other races, even though the NL West at least ought to interest me. Just feels like anything other than a Phillies vs Yankees or Red Sox World Series would be (a) a surprise, and (b) almost a mockery of the rest of the year.
