3 grams - Prodigal Son's

T4: 1695AD Save here for the night.
Get uber arty stack ready for the last 2 Byz towns on our side of the choke, along with an army.
Raze and replace Nicomedia (after selling improvements)
Raze and replace Niassus (ditto)
With that, we have enough money to try a careful steal. Try on Byz and we succeed. Take combustion. Sell Combustion to Japan for Sanitation, WM, and 160g.
For some reason, dad will not now trade oil for coal straight up, like in the beginning of this turnset.
Switch Sala to a hospital.
I lower lux tax to 0% so we can get an extra 80gpt. This will cut steal times by 1T and we need all the time cutting we can get.
Plant a spy in the Aztecs for 82g.

IBT: Byz ask for an audience, offer peace but flight costs 212gpt. Will wait to see what else we can get via a steal in 4T.
Schuykill flips to the Aztecs.

T5: 1700AD All 3 infantry defenders in Brusa redlined via arty. 3rd Cav kills 1 defender (15/17); and a second (12/17); cav dies to infantry without scratching it (1/4); cav kills infantry (4/4); cav kills infantry (2/4); cav dies to infantry (1/4); cav dies to infantry (2/5); use 2 arties to redline it again. Say enough is enough and 2nd cav army kills it (13/17); 2nd cav army kills another redlined infantry (8/17); 4th cav army kills last redlined infantry (16/17) and we take the city + 24g.
@ Dyrrachium: arties redline all infantry (not sure if more injured units are hiding here also); 1st cavalry kills infantry (18/18); 1st cavalry kills infantry (18/18); no more units available so we hold off. Arty destroys the temple, barracks, and market before I silence the guns.

IBT: France offers peace, giving us 28g and WM; Byz declare on the Celts (sub bug?); Aztecs declare on the Byz. Celtic bombers come within 2hp of killing a pillaging army in Byz lands
Sala finishes it’s hospital

T6: 1705AD Redline all defenders in Dyrrachium; 1st Cavalry kills infantry (15/18); 1st cav kills inf (15/18); 1st cav kills inf (11/18); kills inf and we take the city + 25g + 1 arty.
Abandon Brusa and replace with Northern Heights
Elite cav dies trying to kill a Byz infantry in the open near Rectum. A vet cav dies to the same one.

IBT: watch 2 Jap Rambo’s kill those painful infantry near Rectum. Byz and France sign embargo vs us.

T7: 1710AD Redline a ton of units in Constantinople; 5th cav kills 3 infantry (7/18); 6th cav kills 2 (6/17); 3rd cav kills 2 (16/17); 4th cav kills 1 infantry and we take the city (little surprised, thought there was more units).
Wow, this town increases our gpt by over 40, just due to the wonder attractions (Colossus, Great Wall, Copernicus)
Add 3 workers to Sala, but unhappiness prevails so I switch Army build to temple for Cathedral next.
Raze/replace Dyrrachium with Akw

IBT: France and Byz sign MPP; France declares on the Celts
Celtic Marines storm Canadaigua (salt town) and raze it.
We complete Wall Street in Cattaraugus
Aztec’s declare on the French, French declare on us.

T8: 1715AD Artys redline the 2 Celtic marines on our beach. 1st Cav kills them both (13/18)
Our steel attempt fails on the Byz, but our spy makes it out alive.

IBT: Celts drop off 3 tanks near Gewauga.

T9: 1720AD Redline the 3 tanks. Use the 5th cavalry to kill them all (17/18).
Found New Mortons so salt is back online.

IBT: Resign peace with the Aztecs. Use this opportunity to talk and see that they are very far behind in techs.
Celts destroy the French.
Tours riots, damn
Sardica flips to Byz, taking an infantry

T10: 1725AD @ Sardica: cav dies to flak(4/4); infantry kills flak (1/4); infantry kills flak (2/4) and we retake the town + 17g.
@ Vanuz: redline 3 infantry and a Rambo: 3rd Cavalry kills all 3 + Rambo, taking the city + 17g + 1 arty
Near Neodakheat (choke): redline an elite Celtic tank, then kill it with 4th cav. This reveals 8 Celtic tanks. Retreat and reinforce the line.
Get Sala up to size 17, 102spt. Cathedral + temple allows all citizens to work

We need oil and all our gold. We have 2 options: 1 pinch the Japanese oil near Isa. 2. Invade the Aztecs island to our E (also has furs).

1 turn till a carefull steal on Byz is possible. Watch for Constatinople, it’ll probably flip soon. We may also want to consider infantry armys soon as we’ll need cover from the tanks as we take on the Celts.

Combustion has units that need oil. The value of oil now increased due to those units.

Quite possible, First Secretary. But then again, the Central Committee is quite adept at reducing native populations by exhorting them to complete state projects ahead of schedule, no? ;)

Well said

Got it. Play tomorrow.

Reduce natives to subjection, protect the north, whack Byzantium and waste Celts. Protect the Old Man.

Once we secure the extra rubber source by Neodakheat, that may buy us some more trading leverage with Dad. He appears to need that.

Brennus and his boys are whacking on everybody.

Failed to steal Flight from Theo so when she came calling, accepted her peace offering and then paid her 117gpt for airplanes and AA, then traded flight and rubber and another 184gpt to Dad for his oil, then spent the treasury gettting cannon upgraded, built some bombers and started killing Celtic tanks.

The shelling of Brennus' troops brought us back into war with the Aztecs (MPP), so Schuykill is now back in our hands.

The Celts took Adrianople from Theo, so I built Spanishtown in the opened salient between Vidin and Constantinople and stuffed it full of AA, Artillery and infantry. The Celtic tanks stall on the hill in front of it so the arty can hammer them for the bombers in Ivorytown to kill them after the cav armies have hurt them even further. If you leave one tank alive after the cav armies attack they can retreat and heal in a barracks town in the north out of range of Celtic bombing runs. I think I killed about twenty in five turns.

The AA have shot down about a half dozen of Brennus' B-24's.

Brennus started the UN in Barcelona  even though he is at war with everybody but the Aztecs.

The army build at Salamanca got interupted to finish a bomber posthaste. The town needs a full MP complement to keep its cool.

If we can take down Adrianople we should be able to get most of the Celtic air force as they are making at least a half-dozen bombing runs on Spanishtown every turn. Once it's gone the cavalry armies can move across the gut in the center with some infantry support.

Right after making the peace deal with Theo lost Sardica to a flip, no troops though....Oil Thief was built between there and Isa to try and pooch Dad's extra oil. I think Brennus wiil soon take the Byzantine town on the coast south of Adrianople. Once that happens I think we can raze Adrianople without the Byzantine borders re-expanding to block our road across to Brennus.

Preflight Review: At war with Monte & Brennus. Native lux are dyes, incense, ivory, silk, gems. Appears Celts have one source of oil, near Isca. Reset prefs. Push button.

IT: Dad & Dora sign peace. 18 bombers come out of Adrianople shoot 2 down.

1752: Investigate Adrianople. 2 inf, 2 TOW, 4 tanks. Sounds like a nice light lunch.

1754: Build airfield on the west coast. If I counted correctly (fingers were enough, did not have to remove shoes and socks), it is in range of Celtic oil.

1754: 5th Cav. takes Adrianople.

1756: Bombers de-rail and de-road the celtic oil. Take Heraclea. Build Cognac. Take Sapporo. Move combat settler in. Abandon Sapporo. Build Monte's Demise. Abandon Heraclea, build Salient Valley on its ruins.

1760: Take Tokyo. pop is 8 celts, 1 Japanese. I don't want it. Don't think Dad can hold it. Abandon it.

IT: Der Brennus launches Sea Lion without air support. 3 transports incoming near Paris.

1762: Steal Mass Production from Brennus

IT: Celts land @ Ologuen. Seems they forgot the marines. Their ex-force is 2 cav, an inf, and 10 tanks.

1764: Celt ex-force kaput.

I'm at the beginning of Turn 8, 1766. Will finish tomorrow. Need strategic input from the team. Monte's Demise is at the chokepoint to the SE of Nicea and to the north of the Aztec world. Dora's down to 4 or 5 cities. Piece of cake to take her out except Prilep is a one tile island. Our rep is so bad now, do we worry about just crossing into her territory and attacking? Just keep pounding the Celts? Research is still turned off. Our native lux now include furs and wines. I built 2 infantry armies to better guard the artillery stacks. Go back to cav armies or stay with inf armies? I've making infantry like mad to keep our lines of communications open. Expect another Celtic naval invasion in about six turns. Our bomber force is at an airfield N of Monte's Demise and in range of Dora's cities.

I'd read tomorrow morning (GMT-5) and finish tomorrow night.

OT - how does one proportionally change size of the picture in Paint? My other graphix program is on holiday and I'm having issues with reducing the massive size of Paint images.

Unknown on the sizing issue, but let me know, as I have the same issue. I don't have a feel for where we are in terms of F3 strength to Brennus. If he is still ahead by multiple techs, and heavy with tanks, then it may be best to have a few more inf armies, even though I really prefer offensive armies.

for paint, go to image -> stretch/skew. i always select 75% for both horizontal and vertical in the stretch portion. works well, but is a pita.

if you post a pic, i think we can talk a little bit more intelligently about what to do. i think, in general, we must go after the celts. everyone else is secondary, unless by killing them, we further enhance our ability to kill the celts.

From the last save, although Tokyo is gone per Admiral. Focus on Brennus and stay with cav armies. Main focus should now be on Richborough. Mass the cav armies in that direction. Once taken, we can isolate a lot of southern Celt cities by sealing off the area around Calumodunum. Nemausus seals the northern flank. We can then bomb out the area around Entremont once we achieve local air superiority.

con't

1768: Take Osaka, replace with Salient River. Build Salt Hill near the ruins of Tokyo. Celt transport and 2 destroyers incoming near Olgouen.

1770: Take Nagoya. Replace with River Forward. Destroy invasion force at Olgouen (2 inf, 4 tanks)

Military moves are used for this turn. Lots of worker moves left. Cities need MM.

On to Richborough per M60.

OK, I got it and will play tonight.

Nice work to Brother Bede & the Admiral. That map has sure changed a lot since I passed it along. Is there any reason to continue the war with Monty or can I take peace if he comes calling? I'm thinking we're not ready to let up on the Celts yet. How long until we can steal our way to tanks? I'll make sure Brennus can't hook up his oil and start defending with Mech's. Artillery & Cavalry armies work great against Infantry. It's a lot tougher against MI.

Did anyone happen to notice how big Richardborough is? Looks like that puppy is going to get razed, something I don't like to do, but the flip risk is going to be way to great. After Richardborough falls, should I go south and pick up those 7 Celtic cities or N around the little lake towards Entremont? Do the Celts have any wonders that we really want to keep (ie can't raze the city)?

@denyd, AK has already started taking it to the celts, so no need to let up. and we are 1 tech 2 tech's from MT ;)

as far as the aztecs go, i think they have an MPP with the celts. also, they do have supplies of furs and oil on the tundra island to the east of Sala.

Richborough is about the same size as Camulodunum. Probably 5 defenders in each that will be easy meat for all that artillery we've invested in.

I'd clean out the southern towns before moving beyond Nemausus and Camulodunum. Don't see a reason we can't raze to our hearts content.
