3rd Annual CFC Chess Tourney!!

That was a nice game Chamnix. Luckily, the nasty situation didn't develop in your favour.

I am a complete amateur but would be interested in joining up to try and improve :)

Hi Munch, the tournament is already well underway, you can join next year OR, if you like there's a tournament for a chess variant (same rules, different starting position) starting on Sept. 1st.

Narz, I don't know if you've noticed, but it is next year. :p

I'm officially thrown out from the tournament with a fast draw against Cribb as a compensation.

I have officially withdrawn from the tournament. I am quitting chess as of now. Good luck in all your future endeavours! :)

Well, I officially got my bottom handed to me sixth and last time in the second round.
Respect to all those responsible for it - and looking forward to the next "once-in-three-years" tourney. :D

Hm, I spend about a month thinking over my twenty-second move in this game and it turns out to be a real clunker...

Anyway, that's the last game of the round and best of luck to all in the next. I was one victory away from getting in, but col and bathsheba are clearly both way above my league.

I respectfully disagree.
You were leading, I think, until you made that mistake.

I can assure you I had no intention of exchanging my Queen.
The fact that my mistake didn't have such bad consequences was luck rather than planning.

I'm pleased with our first game though, but then the risk I took paid off.

I may have been leading objectively, but I couldn't come up with a plan (or rather, I couldn't come up with a plan that would work). In such a closed position I feel like the side with the queen is harder to play and it's harder to exploit weaknesses such as the one on d6 and d5 because there aren't enough pieces to pile on.

I liked our first game too. I underestimated the attacking potential in your position though...

Well, I'm embarrassed at how I got into the final.

Often when I play some stinking moves I resign out of disgust.
Very occasionally, I'll have a thrash instead.

Anyway, perhaps we can finish this tournament within two years of its start ?

Unfortunately, I'm still busy at work.... :(

Congrats Col.

Wanted to check out the games but am getting a "502 Bad Gateway" error on chess.com.

Too bad lucerfarual/Cribb had to drop out/lost of time.

One of these days I'm going to get that Col, mark my words! :D

I think I'll wait a few weeks before I start the 4th annual (more like 4th is 6 years :D) unless anyone's itching to get started right away.

Waiting a few weeks sounds good to me, although I'm still not playing any chess games.
