3rd Annual CFC Chess Tourney!!

@WhiteEagle: I'd like to discuss our game at some point - I think there are things that we both can learn from it :)

@ItalianTrooper - PLAY already!!! You're about to get defaulted :hammer:

I hope I don't win via timeout against lovett, but if it happens, I'll accept it. A win is a win. lovett has 5 days left to move. Also, I think I've lost my second game against attila22, because I've lost my Queen again! I'm also pretty confident that I am likely to lose against drumstick to boot. I'm getting very tired of losing!

I posted the moves in the "Share your games" thread. Let's discuss it there.

I'd also like lovett to move! However, a win is a win!;)

I just sent another reminder to AlpineTrooper - this time, I sent it to the email he used to register on the forums. Hopefully he'll see it :crazyeye:

In case anyone wonders why I'm not moving in my games it's because I'm pretty exhausted, haven't slept well in three or four days.

Yay, lovett made a move!

Looks like I won't be able to do either of my post-tournament plans for a while. A group requires a Premium subscription at least, and to host a tourney requires a 10% win ratio at least.;)

Just for the kicks, what piece style do you use? I use Modern or Condal, currently the latter one.

I use the defaults, except for a bigger board due to my vision problems.

:( Its ok narz, you can always checkmate my heart.

He's in fiftychat right now, I'll remind him. :)

Lost to Sashie. He played an excellent game.

My key mistakes (IMO) were
  • 10. h3 (too passive, better was Nh4)
  • 24. g4
  • 27. R7f3 & it's pretty much all over

Gotta keep on my toes a little better from now on!

IMO, the notable moments are:

Spoiler :

11. Bd3 (I thought that Bb3 is slightly better, to provoke 11. ... a5 12. a4 b4 13. Nc1. The knight is cramped, yes, but the Queenside pawns are locked for the moment and Black needs to castle Kingside fast. In this position, I say White has decent chances storming the Black King position with pawns.)

Spoiler :
Oh yes, I'm a big fan of no-holding-back attacks on the king :D

18. Rhf1 (I thought that playing c3 immediately would've been better. The c-pawn is backward on an open file with rooks still in play - never a good combination.)

24. g4 (Black is piling pressure on the Bishop. This move allows Black to bring the final piece into the attack. Better was 24. a3 to immediately force the exchange of Bishops. White will end up with a backward pawn, but at least he has only one weakness and can still fight on.)

I probably make my fatal mistake in my mid-game play. If I can solve that, I think I can win more often.;)

You just have to keep closer look at your pieces to see if they are threatened. For examle, you missing the fact that in our game, your Knight at d4 was threatened by my pawn at e5 after 7 ... e7-e5 was your first mistake.

OMG Blunder Of The Tournament! (for me, at least)

Sorry for the delay :(
