4 grams - SNOW

i've added america to our list on the opening post. @chuck, please verify that we only know those 3, i've been a little slack at looking for contacts :)

I am in 4 SGs right now and every single of them is deadly slow....
Is it some kind of after holiday syndrome?

ok, let's look at the times before we start complaining. save was posted on the 10th @ 10:30PM or so. it's 24hrs got it, 72hrs play it. right now, we are 3 or 4 hours from the 72hrs. if chuck doesn't post by then, handy can post a got it after that time. however, i'm not a hardass and can wait another day. i would rather handy wait till tomorrow to grab it then play it tonight while chuck is posting.
if, in the AM, chuck still has not posted an update (ie, i need another day or a complete turnset) then we can skip.

Yeah, same here,
just been sarcastic, that's all :p

Turn:
1) 530BC: Hamburg builds galley, starts sword. See Carthaginian settler heading out to NE. Sci back to 70, still get currency in 3 turns. Vet archers on Mountain lose to reg archer
2) 510BC: Leipzig: Cat-->Sword, Konigsberg: Worker-->sword, Berlin: Settler-->Settler. Sending settler to settle on dyes. Move soldiers to defend Nuremburg from Hanny's archer.
3) 490BC: Frankfurt: spear-->spear. MM Berlin so settler, growth in three.
4) 470BC: Heidlburg builds worker-->worker. Leipzig riots. I'm embarrassed. Hire scientist to make happy, and change to worker. We discover Currency, set reasearch on 60, -1gpt, for lit(12 turns).
5) 450BC: Sword army attacks Num. Mercs and settler, we have two more workers. Spears pillage Carthage's wheat. Take down archer near Nuremburg, Cat helps. Looks like the Babs are beating me to the dyes. They landed right near them.
6) 430BC: Berlin: Settler-->settler.
7) 410BC: Munich: Spear->spear. Ellipi's borders expand. Cologne founded. Working on roading dyes.
8) 390BC: Nuremburg: worker->worker. Sword army at Carthage's gates.

9) 370BC: Konigsberg: sword-->sword. Army kills two Mercs.
10) 350BC: Carthage captured and razed. Archer kills Hanny's reg archer.

Just bored with nothing to do.
hey guys, if you are too bored, I am looking for 1 seasoned player for my Rat-02 Deity SG. we have been through 2 rounds and if any of you wants to join to help us a little, you're more than welcome. it would be a pleasure for me to have you on board

I am in 4 SGs right now and every single of them is deadly slow....

I played through 9 turnsets/SG's a couple of days back, when I finished my turns here.

And now I have nothing to play, so I better read up on Rat's game and see if I wanna give it a go.

EDIT: Drats Rat, I'm already playing the Vikings in 2 SG's and I don't want another. Next time, mate. :)

handy's up
i'm on deck

how many towns left? 1? after the last town is destroyed, we must immediately declare on Babylon, no sandbagging ;)

Can we declare early to stop them from taking the dyes if it looks like the correct play?

you bet your warmongering ass it is!

from the 1st post of this thread said:
Other wars are allowed, and alliances are encouraged.

edit: btw, i will be busy this weekend and cannot put 10 turns in this on Saturday. so, if handy posts tonight, dman can pick it up if he plays on saturday or sunday. otherwise, i'll get it sunday night

Need a little input on trading and research here.

1. We can trade currency & get to the middle ages and get a free tech. Should we do it?
If we get the right free tech we'll have MI & Pikes for the Babylonian war.

2. We can't trade for monarchy, do we want to research that one @ max?

3. Are we planning to build the Glib? No one else has started it.

I'll wait a while to see what you guys think. :D

Input:

1) If we get Fuedalism great, if we don't, we have trade bait for monarchy, so it looks like a winner either way.

2) See above, would the value of a MA tech help any?

3) It doesn't appear we are behind hand in the tech race, so I don't think we need to build it. If we do build it the tech pace will slow down as we won't be feeding gpt into the other guys, so do we want to buy knowledge at fourth and "enjoy" a faster tech pace and discounted prices, or get it free at third and hope to make more money that way...

With Hannibal gone the beaker cost for new knowledge goes down a little anyway but the opportunities for brokerage also diminish.

Be nice if somebody like Abe built it so we could take it away from him at just the right time.

Middle ages and crossed fingers is what I think.

Monopoly tech in MA might give us Monarchy, Feudalism will for sure. If we have something else to haggle with, Mono and Engineering should do it.

No opinion really on the GLib, we might need all available towns for units and stuff soon.

We are Monarchs. :king:

Summary:
Anarchy, Engineering, Babylonian War, Rome, Korea

Bede confirmed what I was thinking so here we go…
Pre turn
Change a few tiles
Turn science slider down to 10%

IBT
Berlin – settler – settler. It’s size 4 so we are a little off the 4 turn settler routine.
Leipzig – sword – sword
Hamburg – sword
Sell Currency to Abe for Lit, HBR and Poly. Start on Monarchy. We pull Engineering as the free tech.

Turn 1 330
Meet Rome We are up Philo, Lit and Currency
The pillaging spears are coming home. The army can kill Carthage by itself.
Trade Engineering to Abe for Republic and Monarchy.
No builds are only 1 turn away, so we revolt. 7 turns. Hire taxmen to avoid riots.
War with Babylon will start before anarchy ends.

IBT
Babylon starts the great library – I hope they stay committed to it.
We are up techs on everyone except Abe. We are equals with Abe.

Turn 2 310
Army kills one NM in the Carthage capital and will have to heal next turn.

Turn 3 290
Babylon has started ToA. That war will be a lot easier if they don’t build units.
Army is healing.

Turn 4 270
Kill 2 archers, Sword promotes.
Carthage is outta here.
Declare on Babylon

Turn 5 250
Hanover is founded on the River.
Silks are hooked up.

Turn 6 230
Babylonian sword exits the fog.

Turn 7 210
Elite archer offs a sword heading to the empty city of Hamburg Bridge.
Kill exploring spear in the north.

Turn 8 190
We become Monarchs.
Kill a warrior

Turn 9 170
So far all the units are attacking from Ellipi. I think they are trying to get to the empty Hamburg Bridge.
Our units can stand on the gold hill near Berlin and kill them as the move onto the flat desert.
Babylon has founded a city on the river in the north that ruins our CxxCxxC master plan to the coast. That city has to go. We only have 1 sword up there, and he is guarding the silks, and the works building a road to the spices. Army can go back up there later. Those cities are corrupt.

Turn 10 150
Found Bremen
Meet Korea. They are way behind in techs.

Notes:
The army is finally on the roads & is in Frankfurt.
Babylonian attacks have been pitiful so far. See the map for an excellent kill site they seem happy to walk into.
Add to the hit list: Rome & Korea in that order.
We need more workers. The corrupt cities are a good source.
Berlin should kick out settlers to grab land in the north before Abe does. Then a market.
Remember – unit support dropped in Monarchy. Size 7 cities now support 4 units; small cities only support 2 units.
Leipzig is pulling 10spt net. Mine some hills and you can work the BG’s elsewhere. Or build an aqueduct in Leipzig.
Sliders are 10/10

WAR:
Not much so far. Babylon is building 2 wonders, and that is helping us a ton.
Taking Ellipi and Uruk will remove the Babylonian Luxuries.
Thankfully the computer rarely plays Babylon as a war civ. They are a great AW civ, so I'm glad the computer is building wonders and not bowmen.
Perhaps we should go for a fast war. Raze and resettle Babylon to make the war go quickly. I did not check culture, but they are bound to be a good bit ahead of us.
