4 grams - SNOW

grrr, pikes with attitude, i hate those crusaders. nice progress

imho, we should not need to research anything else, unless we want to beeline for MT. otherwise, short rush knights via temples or muskets.

I grabbed this last night and played it, but I don't have time to post the turn log right now. To heck with knights, the cavalry is coming!

4 Grams – 950AD

Pre-turn status:
- Monarchy, 518G, +182 gpt, Physics in ‘—‘.

- Our forces consist of 34 workers, lots of slaves, 1 warrior, 1 archer, 8 spears, 8 swords, 5 pikes, 4 muskets, 8 cannon, 7 galleys, 1 caravel, 2 armies, 32 MDI and 4 trebs. We are rated strong vs. everybody.

- A few MM actions to speed up builds and squeeze out a couple more coins from the hinterlands.

- Change one taxman to scientist to get research going on Physics (although we will probably win before he finishes).

- Korea knows PP; 16 turns remain on the spices deal.

<Hit enter. IBT: MDI killed near Veii; AC dies attacking another MDI; a crusader follows and kills the MDI; Berlin MDI=> Mil. Acad.; Leipzig MDI => MDI; resistance in Philly ends; Samarra CH => duct; Munich cannon => MDI; Dortmund cannon MDI.>

Turn 1 960AD
- What to do? Veii is under pressure from a crusader and various other units, while we have a nice SOD ready to hit Rome. Decide to take Rome and then (hopefully) peel off an MDI or two to relieve the pressure on Veii.

- Attack Rome, we kill 5 muskets and redline a 6th at the cost of 2 MDI. Unfortunately there are no other forces around to finish the job, so the city holds.

- At Veii, an MDI dies attacking the crusader (reduced to 2 HP).

- Move workers to connect up horses and gems (Boston will expand its cultural borders next turn).

<IBT: Korea offers furs for wines and 35 gpt (declined – BTW, they know banking now); we lose 2 more MDI and an archer near Veii; Eulbar library => CH; Heidelburg MP => MDI; Cologne rax => MDI; Bremen riots.>

Turn 2 970AD
- Veii will fall next turn – too bad I couldn’t get Rome, the MDI are too slow to get there without the benefit of friendly cultural borders. Decide to pillage the iron and abandon the city.

- Switch Stuttgart from MDI to settler.

- Decide to trade with Korea after all, give silks, wines and 21 gpt for furs.

- Turn lux. down to 0%.

<IBT: Lose an MDI to LB; 2 HP Roman crusader dies attacking MDI on hill across a river  ; Izibia MP => duct; Leipzig MDI => musket; Ellipi MDI => MDI; Stuttgart settler => MDI; Salzburg cannon => cannon.>

Turn 3 980AD
- Move more MDI and cannon towards Rome. Our army, trebs and some wounded MDIs are fortified there.

- Treb. bombards Rome and destroys their palace (WTH? Does the palace just reappear after it gets destroyed?) Another treb. bombards and destroys the Pyramids! :wow:

<IBT: Lose an MDI near Rome; Konigsberg cannon => MDI; Nuermburg cannon => duct; Dortmund MDI => musket.>

Turn 4 990AD
- MDI kills LB.

- Treb. ‘destroys’ Sun Tzu’s in Rome? ( :crazyeye: those must be some mighty fine trebs. we have there!).

- Shuttle more units to the front through Chicago.

<IBT: 2 Roman MDIs die attacking us; Roman knight appears & gets redlined; Hamburg Bridge cannon => MDI; Munich MDI => MDI; Hamburg harbor => settler.>

Turn 5 1000AD
- MDI kills the knight.

<IBT: LB kills MDI; AC kills another MDI; Leipzig musket => MDI; Heidelburg MDI => MDI; New Konigsberg CH => MP.>

Turn 6 1010AD
- Kill a pike near NY.

- Kill an MDI near Phil.

- Our forces move into place on the horses near Detroit.

- Rush settler in Hamburg.

<IBT: AC dies in another ‘cross the river & up the hill’ attack; knight kills an MDI; Bonn duct => MDI; Ellipi MDI => MDI; Stuttgart MDI => MDI; Hamburg settler => CH.>

Turn 7 1020AD
- Kill a knight by Rome.

<IBT: lose 2 MDI and 3 cannon to a crusader and LB (ouch!); Leipzig MDI => MDI; Konigsberg MDI => cannon; Cologne MDI => MDI; Salzburg cannon => cannon; Dortmund musket => musket.>

Turn 8 1030AD
- With our army rested I take another shot at Rome: kill 2 muskets and a spear at the cost of 1 MDI, and the city falls.

<IBT: Munich MDI => MDI.>

Turn 9 1040AD
- Build New Stuttgart on the horses and rush a harbor there.

- Bombard the snot out of a crusader and a knight on the hill next to Rome, then our army kills both and takes the high ground. (I just noticed – Rome has 7 hills and/or mountains within the city radius  .)

- Kill a spear near the ruins of Veii.

- Change a bunch of builds over to cavs.

<IBT: New Stuttgart harbor => rax; Shuruppak harbor => cannon.>

Turn 10 1050AD
- Americans built Cincinnati next to the ruins of Veii during the interturn; move forces in place to take it next turn.

- MDI kills a Roman spear near New York.

Recap:
- It wasn’t pretty, but we finally took Rome; progress would have been more rapid if my initial attack had been successful and we could have held Veii.

- Hooked up some horses and gems, and improved our ‘jungle net’ highway system.

- Berlin will finish Military Academy in 11 turns, although I wonder if it will have time to actually build an army before this game is over.

- We have a settler available to reclaim the dyes by the ruins of Veii (and the soon to be ruins of Cincinnatti).

This game should go pretty fast once we get some cavs. into the action.

 to goz and Bigfoot for fixing the mess I left. Nice.

lurker's comment: Looks awesome guys. Keep up the good work, and I can't wait to see the DG game. One question though, do you guys still MM even with such a large territory?

Preflight check: Shortrush a cav in Leipzig via musket; Rush/short rush a bunch of stuff.
I ally Korea vs Rome to try to get it out of democracy. I don’t want it to start running away, techwise. Costs us 264g to do this.
Spend a lot of time MM’ing all towns. It’s mostly in good order, just tweaking a citizen here or there due to all the rushing.
I look and look at Dortmund, trying to figure out how to get it to 20spt, but no luck :( I rush a court to see what the corruption goes down to (maybe that + wltkd will do the trick, ivory is close to Rome and that’ll be lux #7)

IBT: Romes moves some stuff, but no counters.
Leipzig cav -> cav; Hamburg Bridge cav -> cav; Frankfurt ‘duct -> cav; Hannover court -> market; Dortmund court -> cav; New Frankfurt court -> ‘duct; New Hannover Lib -> walls

Outside Philly: elite cav kills LB (5/5) and

IBT: Cav defends against knight in Pisae (1/4) 42-3
Berlin Mil Academy -> cav; Munich cav -> cav; Stuttgart cav -> cav; Dortmund cav -> cav

I have it will play tomorrow and looks like this game is almost over...
Just in time to get ourselves occupied with SGOTM6 :)

Pre-turn....
Khhm... Looks okay, although I think I would switch builds in most corrupted cities to wealth...
We don't really need all those cannons if we manage to mass produce cavalry.

IBT: Resistance ended in many former roman cities.
Longbow attacks our cavalry and dies -> Cavalry promoted to elite.
Citizens of Town of Syracuse have overthrown oppressive American regime and pledge allegiance to magnificent German nation.

T1. 1160AD. San Francisco captured. Buffalo captured - one cavalry. Brundisium capture; Lugdunum auto-razed.
This game will be over soon. I don't see any reason building courthouses due in 30+turns in corrupted cities. I switched them all to wealth... Only cities that we want to expand borders I left building libraries..... We need to max our income to short rush cavalries instead. I also started few caravels in our northern cities. That will be the quickest way to get to Korean land.

T2 1170AD. Lutetia is captured. CeasarAugusta is captured. Rome is down to 3 cities 2 of those on remote island.

IBT. We lost furs and I don't renegotiate deal with Korea... Looks like we will start on them in no time.

T3. 1180AD. New Orleans captured... America is no more. Crap... I made a mistake and loaded a horse into our 2unit army... I totally forgot it won't fit into caravel... :-(. I am sending caravels north. We won't need to move any more troops to former Roman land. We might want to rush few caravels on the other side of roman continent to move some of the troops to Korea.

T4. 1190AD. Auto-razed last roman continental city. I am going to re-group our armies and declare on Koreans in next 2 turns. We will be close to domination limit soon... Is it okay to win domination or do we have to go for a conquest?

T5. 1200AD. I've just noticed Koreans are also at war with Romans. Koreans helped us to raze another roman city on northern island. Rome is down to one city and I am sending cavalry next turn that way. Other than that major troop regrouping. War on Korea is due in 2 turns.

IBT. Rome and Korea signed peace treaty.

T6. 1210AD I moved settler, 3 cavalry and MA on northern Island. Troops are collected to start Korean war next turn.

T7. 1220AD Oh, we do have a deal going on with Korea and it will last for another 7turns... You know forget the deal... Nobody can accuse me in sandbagging... Declare on Korea. Capture Taegu, Sariwon, Baltimore.
Fail to capture Chonju, miscalculated number of defenders in that city.

T8. 1230AD Capture Manp'o, Pyongson, Kaesong, Haeju. Failed to capture Suwon. Pesky musket redlined 2 of our cavalry. Disbanded few cannons to rush caravels on Roman continent.

T9. 1240BC Hanover and Carchemish are rioting. Capture Suwon. Fail to capture Chinje... Reg spear kills our cavalry. 2 caravels are loaded with cavalry to hit Korean mainland. More to come. Disbanded more useless cannons

T10 1250AD.... Captured Chinje. Koreans landed lone bowman on northern island, killed him.
Koreans are down to their main island. We have cleared there rest of the land from them.
We have 3 cavalry and MDI on northern island. Should be enough to destroy last Roman city.
I apologize again for the army accident.

Post-turn: Next player will probably finish the game... All we need is to cash rush cavalries, move them to Korean island and raze their cities.

Nice war-mongering guys! I look forward to the next game.

We are Bismarck the Magnificent.

Rolled up the Koreans like an old window shade.

In 1300AD attacking the two cities in the far north got two leaders and two full armies.

Postiioned them to attack the last two cities in the south, pressed enter and hit the domination limit.

I would like to re-enlist. :salute:

me too me too :)
