Glad to see all the love for AOE2. It was probably the greatest PC gaming experience I ever had, the online community was phenomenal. One of the reasons I like CFC so damn much is it reminds me so much of those old communities.

me and my roomie used to play a lot of AoE . the 1.0 C patch for multiplayers.. my god we were newbies and didnt know what a patch was !

1. X-COM: UFO Defense (Enemy Unknown)
2. Civilization (I like the entire series and have played them all. Now with the xpac, I probably won't be able to go back from CiV now though)
3. Master of Orion (1 and 2 were both great... 3 was such a disappointment)
4. Romance of the Three Kingdoms 2 (the versions following this tried too much to focus on the individual generals and the tactics. This was Europa Universalis before it was conceived, only in China... still a great game)

Honorable mention:
Nobunaga's Ambition 2 (another KOEI game... same as RotTK, later editions shift to tactics)
Europa Universalis 3 (plus all expansions... sometimes I just need to play this game but it sure took a long time to understand)

That piece of waste may have actually been a bigger steamer than Master of Orion 3.

Certainly not as disappointing as EE wasn't exactly the highest quality series of all time, but still.
