40k NES Preview/Sign-up/OOC Thread

Tyrion,

They can have both. Before the orks came, Gorkamorka was known as Angelus (though I might have botched the spelling). I say give them ork names, but include their original names in your background, just in case they are liberated or manage to raise a rebellion.

Remember, these planets could also have been owned by other races, like Exodite Eldar, Hrud, maybe even Kroot, or a non-canon alien race.

Kal'thzar,

Welcome aboard. Good to see someone up to the challenge. Good luck, you'll need it.

Ok, we have the minimum number of players to start. I'd like to see a few more, especially another Ork player. But we have all of our bases covered, so we're looking good so far.

And now to think of suitable ork names fun times :p

7 Exodite Infantry Warhosts 350

Note on military expenditure; is higher than 500 due to the "free units" I receive.

A query are the Exodite knights one per world or one per Fuedal World?

Would have liked an industrial world but didn't feel it was within the keeping of the style of the Exodites ( a further limitation I know). But 5 bill Eldar? not likly.

(Industrial World) - Level 2 Shipyard
Production: 2500/3/-1/-1

lastly on the map I would like the worlds
GHU - 16 Dristaur System
GHU - 17 Dyannash System
GHU - 18 Iadanna System
GHU - 19 Dorchain System

Please correct etc.

Looks good.

I'll add the changes to the map tomorrow. The original rule says one per medieval world, which I think I will change to be one per world. So you can start off with five units of Knights.

I agree that Industrial worlds don't quite fit the Exodites too well and I applaud you on applying that additional limitation.

EDIT: I fixed the stuff, I hope my math was good. Also could you explain the tabletop game? I am a bit confused.

Other than that everything else looks good?

Also for my systems:
World, XVC-39 and XVC-37.

germanicus12, you start with 1 scout company, 8 battle brother companies, and 1 terminator company as a codex chapter. You will have at least as many as a non-codex chapter. They are free, but you have to pay the upkeep. You'll need a name for your marine chapter as well (The Legion, The Sons of Rome, etc) and state whether you are codex or non-codex (Do you follow the actual tabletop game? I can explain what this means if you don't).

Tax can be any % you want. Add together your economy and multiply it by the percent to get your total. Currently, yours would be 7600*0.40=3040.

Also, you only get 20 points for state creation. You have used 25.

For military upkeep, add together the total cost of all of your non-space marine units and divide by 5. Add that number to the upkeep for your marine units. That is your upkeep. Yours would be: 2320/5+120=584.

Allright I fixed it... I think. And could you explain the tabletop game for me? I put down Follows Codex but I would like to know what it actually means. Thanks.

The Space Marines are a very complex faction. I recommend reading the introduction provided by Games Workshop at their website www.games-workshop.com.

A few things in general:
- You are genetically engineered super-men who are the elite forces of the Imperium of Man
- You worship devoutly the Emperor and would do anything for him (though he is currently in an approx. 11,000 year coma)
- Your marines themselves only number 1000, 100 per unit, so they need to be used wisely.

As for the codex, here is what someone else has said:
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Codex_Astartes

Basically, if you follow the codex, then you follow those rules of organization for your space marines. You are less susceptible to genetic deviation or corruption and are under less scrutiny from the Inquisition, although you are restricted in many facets of your existence and are thus less flexible.

A few more changes to be made:
You still have 4 scout companies. You start out with only 1. You cannot buy more, but they will be recruited over time. Also, you have still spent 22 points towards your starting empire.

Allright, I took out 3 scout companies and 1 agri world planet. Redid the math and military upkeep. I think I am now ready.

I also read over the website and now understand the tabletop game.

You now have 1 remaining point to spend should you so choose ^_^

Any other questions you have, I'll be happy to answer.

Anymore spots for the Tau?? I'll take the Eldar if not...

Only one Tau spot and it's taken I'm afraid. They aren't a presence outside of their home sector yet. It wouldn't make sense to have multiple players even if they did.

The only Eldar spot left is for the Exodites, not a craftworld, so it'll be a tough game. If you're cool with that, then you're in KrimzonStriker.

Exodites it is I suppose... Ah forget that, put me down for an Ad Mech force, sombody had better do it I suppose. Praise be to the Omnissiah! :borg:

On the surface, and holding up under fairly heavy probing, the Atlan Ascendancy was a typical imperial state. A pseudo-independent stellar nation, in the heart of the Jugurtha Subsector, pious and fervently loyal to the Emperor.

The Hive-World of Atla itself was rather young for its kind, the last bits of land being buried in civilization only a few hundred years prior. The planet, second in its system, had always been hot, but now it was unbearable. So the people delved into the cool darks of the planet's crust, living out their lives in one of countless hive-worlds spread throughout the galaxy.

While it suffered from the degree of criminality and lawlessness that plagued all hive-worlds, it was for the most part fairly peaceful. I must again stress, peaceful in terms of hive worlds.

Vandra and Takat, the Third and Fifth planets respectively, provided much of the Hiveworld's food. Vandra was a committed Agri-World, while Takat had only recently been reclaimed from Orks. Settlement and exploitation was slow, as Feral raids continued to attack settlers, but Atla had more than enough humans to make up for these minor losses.

So the planet-city of Atla continued its daily life, transforming the raw resources in other parts of the nation into finished products, more ships to plow their way through the empty space of the Eastern Fringe, or more weapons to fight agaisnt the various forces of heresy and Xenos prevalent in the sector.

However, deep within the tunnels of Atla, and on several other surrounding planets, an infestation had been spreading, stealthily and silently, closing its tentacular grip on the nation.

Deep underground, a dully-glowing, yet strangely beautiful set of eyes opened.

Patience will always pay off, my brothers and sisters. Our time draws near...
