OK, china you said I would get a bonus expansion. I raised my education, I was supposed to get a free one and my people's confidence is supposed to be up, is there a problemo here???
Florida was expanding like never before. With the fertile valleys of the Mississippi under Floridian control, and more people moving west daily, Florida was entering a golden age. With the population booming, just recently reaching over 5 million people, and the army growing ever stronger, Florida was on its way to being a great power.

The majority of India was now controlled by the grand Indian Empire. Only the northern, more mountainous part was not controlled by us, but that was to change soon. As the current ruler was a very intelligent man, he knew that controlling highlands could be key to winning a battle, as archers could rain down arrows on the enemy from above. Of course, India didn't know of any other empires or armies, nor did they have any offical contacts, but there were rumors of nations to the northwest and northeast. Therefore, the emperor made it a priority to expand north into the mountains, as whomever controlled those northern mountains basically controlled the 'Key to India.'
Meanwhile, the Emperor also looked south, towards the island of Ceylon, for possible expansion...

The Union is fragmented and divisive, but do not take this for weakness for what appears to be a self destructive system which is easily defeated is a system of self governance and friendly -and sometimes not so friendly- disputes and competition which will draw together under the banner of a WarChief in times of state wide emergency.
According to the laws of the Union the WarChief is appointed by the Tribal Council from amongst the most capable warriors or generals and the union will overnight become a centralised fighting power under the direct and absolute command of the WarChief in times of war; even the Grand Chieftain must submit to this rule.
Only once has the emergency WarChief powers invoked and that was the event which was actually the catalyst for the formal formation of the Union.
The Pictish peoples once ruled all of the northern region known as Alba (GLA and EDI regions) and the Scots fleeing from their homelands of Ireland during a massive famine came to Dalraida, a province in Pictland.
The Picts and Scots at first battled each other, the Scots seeking only to make a home for themselves, and the Picts viewing the Scots as a foreign invader; the Scots eventually defeated the Picts under the "High King" Kenneth the Great MacAlpine and lead to a treaty which divided Alba between the two peoples.
For decades the Picts and Scots were highly distrustful and hateful of one another and the peace was uneasy at best; the Picts viewed the treaty as an imposed one by an invading people and the Scots felt that the Picts had tried to destroy them in their time of greatest need, and were waiting for a chance to accomplish that.
Seeing the problem this could pose to both peoples, the son of Kenneth the Great, Eion, went to the capital of Pictland -Dundee- and met with the Pictish Chiefs to try and repair relations and although the possiblity of reunification between the two Alban nations could not have been more remote at that moment, Eion had taken the first steps towards it.
Eion MacAlpines descendants continued his work to repair relations; and eventually the leaders of both nations were able to finally meet for talks to try and bring about a Union of the nations; however the possiblity of it was still pretty well remote for either people to surrender their independence to the other was unacceptable so many view these talks with a wary eye; except of course the "Kings" of the south, of the Celtic and Angle peoples.
For the first and only time in their histories did the ever warring Tribes and "Kingdoms" of Angleland and Wales ally; or at least the more northern ones; to invade Alba. Their objective was to destroy all hopes of a Union between Pictland and Scotland; their invasion however had the exact opposite affect - the Scots and Picts who were wary of Unification saw that the southerners were a dangerous threat and only together would they be able defeat it.
This lead to the appointing of the first WarChief - and later to the formation of the Tribal Council and Grand Chieftain elections in Ayr - and the formation of the Union of the Scot and Pictish peoples.

The work was going nicely, however, now, a feared alliance was signed and the Scandanavians were afraid. They wanted to be part of this, so they wouldn't get attacked. Hopefully, that would happen.
