5 in 1 (mystery SG with twists) - Emperor

Usually, anyway, Writing at max still gives you Writing in 50 turns. Maybe not this game, though, since we have three cities. I'd have to check the save.

Not blaming anyone, just pointing something out. After all, everyone got to comment on me not settling.

preturn: switch settler to granary in our capital. Raise lux to 20% to avoid riot.

(1)2110BC: Set Tiwanaku to worker.

Persia has Iron Working. Vikings start Colossus.

Lux can drop to 0 and Writing in 9 turns.

(2)2070BC: ZZZ

(3)2030BC: Vikings has Writing. We get it with Mysticism+Pottery+4g and start max on Philosophy due in 14 turns.

(4)1990BC: Sumeria is to our south, and quite close. It has 5 cities already and I see another settler. We are up Writing.

Sumeria and Maya have the same color, so be careful.

(5)1950BC: Viking has Iron Working too, so I get it from Persia by Writing.

Can't find iron anywhere close by.

IBT Vikings demand 25g and I cave.

(6)1910BC: ZZZ

IBT I see several Vikings warriors/archers come to us. They are clearly on a sneak attack mission.

(7)1870BC: We meet Japan and we are up Writing.

I have to whip an archer out of Tiwanaku, and switch Cuzco to spear too.

Have to up lux to 20% and delay Philosophy by 4 turns.

IBT Vikings move toward Machu Picchu it seems?

(8)1830BC: Capital is 10spt and can produce a spear every two turns. I start it on rax for now.

(9)1790BC: Hmm, Vikings turn to SE, maybe they just like to scout with 3 units together? I switch Cuzco to settler again.

Persia has Math.

(10)1750BC: Vikings turn to south. Definitely not attacking.

Philosophy in 7 turns (may drop if we lower lux with the settler built). We should get CoL and start on Republic?

Tiwanaku should be a military town. I would chop the forest to speed that up.

Our capital should also start a rax after the settler, and rotate between settler and military.

We need to see what's beyond the mountain east to Machu Picchu. We need to find iron.

If a civ is getting ready to sneak attack, it will stop if the city all of a sudden changes from an easy target to a hard one.

Cuivienen
TimBentley
Kiech
Microbe
GRS - up
Locomotive - on deck

This 5 in 1 variant makes it interesting to comment on anything :) It just seemed to me from what you wrote that you may be under a spell to make us lose/waste money. Normally it wont make a difference if you research writing at 10% or 100%, but maybe it is different in our game.

Kiech, I was not blaming, but speculation on your ruleset.

First, the dotmap I made before playing, some spot are obsolete now.

5in1-1750bc-dotmap.jpg

PreTurn: nothing
IBT: Gilgamesh friendly asks us to leave; Cuzco settler-barracks
1725BC: exploring, lux to 10, research to 90
IBT: Sumeria learns polytheism, but we have nothing to offer
1700BC: we spot another goody hut; I move the warrior out of Machu Picchu - that will stop it growing, but we need to look for iron there and our scouts did miss scouting our lands before veturing to foreign lands
IBT: Xerxes kindly asks us to leave
1675BC: get a warrior from the hut
IBT: Persia starts The Oracle
1650BC: movement
IBT: Xerxes speeds us through his territory; our conscript defeats two barbs and is now a veteran
1625BC: we meet the Maya behind Persia - they are down writing; warrior from a hut spots a village; scout spots another one and a source of iron at Sumerias; we find an iron ne of Machu Picchu; Ollantaytambo founded at the elephants; lux to 20, research to 80 - philosophy in 1
IBT: we learn philosophy take code of laws for free and start the republic at 10%; Cuzcu barracks-settler
1600BC: we meet Isabella - she misses writing and Wang Kon - he is up maths and misses philosophy and code of laws; temporarily switch settler build and research, but huts only give us a map and 50 gold nonetheless :(
We trade: philosophy + 1gold to Persia for horseback riding; philosophy + 81gold to Korea for mathematics; Sumeria still wants an arm and a leg for polytheism - no trade
IBT: we spot 2 more ivory to the east - we may want to claim them
1575BC: nothing
IBT: Machu Picchu worker-worker
1550BC: nothing
IBT: Cuzco settler-archer; Korea starts The Colossus; Spain the Oracle
1525BC: lux to 10%; reseach to 40%
IBT: Ollantaytambo warrior-worker; polytheism was passed around
1500BC: settler moved in position to claim the horses for us, we could start some horsemen (change archer in Cuzco to horse (!?) - seems a good choice on this map. Continue settling, we are losing land to the AI. Have a look at buying poly - the trade should get us some more gold than the 99 in our treasury. You may want to adjust research too.

Good luck!

Haha. This game will make each and everyone of us look like we belong on chieftan.
No, we'll do some stupid stuff even chieftain level players wouldn't do.

That's very interesting. I wonder what the reason for that was.

The dotmap looks fine, other than that western white dot and the pink dot.

Ooo, we are running out of places to expand quickly. War will certainly be necessary soon.

Nice turnset, grs!

Whats up with the USA basketball team? Don't they get paid enough to win a little more often? Ugh.

They need to show off the Trojan horse a bit more at the games. Apparently, the NBC people aren't too into it.

Silly trojan horse at the Olympics story.

Edit: You can start a short war with Spain, apparently. They have a settler all alone standing next to one of our scouts.

Pre-IT

Move science to 10% --- still finish Republic in same amount of turns

Switch Cuzco to temple to help the luxury slider bar so it isn't being moved simply for one city.

1) Corihwayrachna founded

No point in attacking spain because the settler/warrior pair is about to settle by a volcano + it would trigger our GA.

2) Scouting

3) Scouting

4) Scouting

5) Trade Spain: They give Philosophy + horseback riding for Poly + 10 gold
There were better trades with our neighbors, but I will never help out Sumeria (agricultural civ) get going.

Trade Vikings: They give Map Making + 10 gold for Phil/Poly/Code of Laws
The AI goes nuts over getting to monarchy

6) Olan - worker -worker
Cohsdhsehsiehe (however you spell it) warrior - worker

7) Cuzco temple -settler
Lux to 30% everything has more happy than sad, but!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

8) Tiwan...I must be really tired of stupid. I blame it on me thinking about the olympics bah

Machu worker - warrior
Cohoeureor3939 worker - warrior

Koreans start Temple of Art
Spain starts Temple of Art + Oracle

9) Cuzco settler - settler
Tiwan barracks - archer

Declare war on Sumeria

10) Ollan warrior - worker

Warrior vs Agade Endiku warrior = 1/3 warrior (ours)

Agade falls we gain 2 gold + 1 slave.

Bah, I am not impressed with my play. Very rarely do I let a city riot, but my riot streak had to fall.

Iron is in our reach. Horses are connected. We are doing fine now.

Sorry about the delay. I can't get enough of these Olympics. :)

EDIT: I have almost all workers connecting our cities. I chose connecting all of them over connecting the ivory first because only 3 cities would be using the ivory. One of them Tiwan which needs almost the same lux as Cuzco wasn't connected.

[IT] - Persia comes knocking. They want 32 gold. We do not want to give them 32 gold. War ensues.

[1] - Not much. We spot a Sumerian Settler pair.

[IT] - Izzy kicks us out.

[2] - Cori. finishes Warrior, starts Barracks.

[3] - Cuzco completes Settler, starts Horseman. Culture expansion at Cuzco. Macchu finishes Warrior, starts Barracks. We kill the Sumerian Settler pair and get two slaves. Sumeria has founded Erech in the middle of the desert... Let me guess... There's Saltpeter or Oil there? Switch Tiwanaku to a Horseman.

[IT] - A barbarian Horse appears north of Cuzco. There must be a settlement up there. Hopefully the Vikings will dispatch them for us.

[4] - ZZZ

[IT] - The Maya are building the Pyramids and complete the Oracle in Chichen. No cascades.

[5] - Ollan finishes Worker, starts Barracks.\

[IT] - Sumeria wants Peace. They would give Sumer and Lagash. I laugh in Gilgamesh's face. Persia and Sumeria are building the Temple of Artemis. Sumeria completes the Pyramids in Ur. The Spanish are building the Temple of Artemis and the Mausoleum of Mausollos. The Japanese and Maya are building the Temple of Artemis.

[6] - Tiwanaku completes Horseman, starts another.

[IT] - We lose a Warrior to a Sumerian Archer. The Maya demand CoL, but back down.

[7] - Cuzco completes Horseman, starts Settler.

I lost track of turns somewhere, but this should be the last turn, so:

[IT] - Ivory is online.

[10] - A Horseman attacks an Archer and redlines, retreats. The Archer will probably kill it next turn.

Settlers should found where they are. Sumeria will still give Sumer for Peace if you want. Persia wants 180 for Peace, though, so we'll stay at war there.
