Very interesting variants... TimBentley, still haven't gotten a reply as to what they are. According to microbe's post I need to know :) .

Any thoughts on what to do once the Vikings are gone (which will be very soon)?

And I just realized that the order is completely changed. grs used to play after me, and now TimeBentley is inbetween. Apparently it's not a good idea to let everyone know about every player's variant.

So I guess we just live with it.

Cuivienen and Kiech gone, I replaced Locomotive. That was my understanding.
 
I just proposed this new roster, because you played Tim - microbe - Tim. Keeping the roster would have meant microbe would play again and said himself that this is no good idea and I agree. We can change my proposed roster if you like.

I would not send variants aroung in our case.

Pre: I have 4.930 gold to waste...fine...hurry courts and markets. Switch all research builds. Last tech we need is steam all else is waste and we are tech leader soon anyways. We can research everything in 4, if we like. Research set to 80% - military tradition in 2. Capture Stockholm - Vikings out and war weariness ends. Capture Ur (Pyramids) and Zabalam.

660AD: Renew spices deal with Xerxes for incense and 500 gold.

670AD: Military tradition - physics. Start the military academy.

680AD: Ashak taken.

690AD: Kish taken.

700AD: Kuara taken.

710AD: Bad-tibira and Sumer taken.

720AD: Physics - theory of gravity. Lose iron due to vulcano (so what?). Umma and Kua taken.

730AD: Marad taken - Sumeria is out.

740AD: Silks deal with Korea ends. 10% lux is cheaper than renewing it. We attack them soon anyways.

750AD: Move troops to Mayas and rush some settlers, courts and markets.

Game is pretty much over, we should go for domination, that will be fastest. I would attack Mayas first. You may need to raze and replace, because of their culture, but it is not that fatal.
 
Got it. So, the goal is to destroy the Maya, expand quickly, and get a domination victory? I'll try to follow that.
Edit: Played to turn 2. Lots of cavs around the Maya, thinking about declaring and attacking now. Thoughts?

Upgrade a Knight to Cavalry. Just noticed the Maya enter Industrial Age, probably a turn or 2 ago maximum. I have a feeling they'll get Riflemen soon. Better destroy them fast.

Capture Tulum, great RNG there. Horrible RNG at Piedras Niegras. 3/4 health bar army dies without killing anything.
Final Thoughts: Everyone except Korea can build cavalry. War weariness is hitting us badly. End the war with the Maya soon? Perhaps keep going to see if they'll get good techs, then pointy stick? Sorry if I managed it poorly. The next person up could buy Medicine from Persia if they choose to do so.
 
Well as I see it, there is nothing left to attack with. It would have been nice to get through to their dyes, but we got their salpeter at least.

Edit: Just one tip, get used to adjust the lux slider. It's better than having so many cities riot.
 
Maya usually have 1 musketman and 1 spearman/pikeman per city.

I was going to adjust the luxury slider but I thought of it just after MMing a bunch of cities.

Sounds like we should end the war? I don't see it going anywhere from here.

MM all cities. Why are we building reg warriors and muskets in our corrupt city? WW is killing us but we have to live with it.

We have too few workers.

IBT Persia asks for too much for Spices, and I have to pay incense+WM+795g for it. Palace expansion.

(1)860AD: Kill a longbow and pike.

I sell Magnetism+WM+wines+22g to Korea for silks+MA vs Maya.

(2)870AD: Korea goes Industrial and both Persia/Korea have Medicine+Steam Power. :( I buy it with 12g. We have two coals connected. I sell Coal to Korea for 173g.

Bad-tibira is actually an ironworks city but too corrupt.

Industrialization in 7 turns.

Saltpeter to Spain for 22gpt.

IBT Maya builds Shakespear.

(3)880AD: We lose 2 cavs, kill elite musket and vet pike, and capture Piedras. It is size-9 without any improvements! Should have razed it.

IBT Persia starts JS bach - wait, this wonder hasn't been built? :eek:

(4)890AD: IBT Spain and Maya MA vs Korea and Persia. :lol: We lose a cav to Maya's cav but kill a cav plus a longbow.

(5)900AD: Kill 2 reg muskets flawlessly and capture Valencia. It has another coal.

(6)910AD: Capture aother 2 towns and get a leader. I can't believe we don't have an army yet so it forms one immediately.

(8)930AD: capture Bonampak.

(9)940AD: We capture Lagartero which has dyes, so we drop lux to zero and fire many clowns.

IBT Valencia and Mayap despose to Maya. No troops lose. And Manp'o of Korea flips to us. :lol:

(10)950AD: Capture Copan. We cannot reach the two flipped city but Maya only got spear in it.

Note:

Let's quickly get rid of Maya. Do not stack too many units in captured towns except the first turn. For example, Army should move out of Copan next turn as it's too likely to flip.

After Maya we need to dogpile Persia.

Tech wise go Electricity -> Replaceable Parts. That's pretty much the only tech we need. After that shut off research and use gold to rush units.

Build more settlers to fill in the gap.

Well, I'll try my best (we would have to wait for grs to finish them off anyways). And don't worry, I'll be sure to save some money for rushing. I've got it, and will probably play tomorrow.
