Iron AND Horses? Can it get any better? Wait, yes it can. If Coal is on that hill or that mountain just outside Edrine's current boders, we've got a IW city!

But, we'll have to wait until the IA...

Anyway, who's next? We have this roster so far:

Choxorn
Tasslehoff: Just Played
???: UP
???: On Deck
???

Not Placed: Hawk, Tad, Jokeslayer

Turn 3: Barracks-> Archer. Worker heads to forest, other worker to grassland. Science to 60%, again to save cash without slowing tech. Warrior passes hut to avoid popping IW and wasting research.

Turn 4: Babylonian Settler on Mountain, IW-> Math.

lurker's comment: You DO realize it's not possible to pop from a hut the tech you are already researching, don't you?

It looks in that screenshot like Edrine is size one and not growing. What's that about? I'm also not sure I like the spearman build. It's hardly like the babylonians are crazy-aggressive.

lurker's comment: I've never played a 5CC, so, with that said, take these comments for what they're worth. If you're only going to have 5 cities, I think you'll need them to be as large as possible. That makes Edrine's lack of growth a real problem. Have you considered where to put your other 3 cities? Not that corruption is going to be a huge problem with 5 cities, but it seems to me that you'd want them arrayed around your capitol, so a palace jump to Edrine down the road might be worth considering. And is that a Babylonian settler pair standing there all alone and helpless next to your archer? :mischief:

Tasslehoff put Edrine to work the Mountain to finish the Spear Quicker. I can see his reasoning, but by now, it should probably be sent back to the field.

@Aabra: I was thinking the same thing about the archer, but he's going to mvoe in the IBT, probably to a square the archer can't get.

I got the next turnset. I should be able to play tomorrow.
Do you think I should build a settler in Istanbul next? If we do, should I sent it to the lakes near the grapes?
After the Spear is created in Edrine, should I move the citizen to the field to get growth? Should I build a granary there next? Or Barracks?

Move the citizen to the grass that has the horse for growth, and build a rax afterwards.

As for the capital, Settler after archer, and time it to make it grow to size 5 and build a settler at the same time.

Send the built settler to the tile that is 1 tile East of the Wines.

I moved the archer with the intent of being able to reach the settler if we wanted to, but I was a turn late. Still, if the archer follows the pair, we could get a quickly razed city. With that in mind, I started working the mountain to produce a faster spear, so if we declare war earlier, we don't have to worry about the spear not being built in time to save Edrine.

@Hawk: Choxorn's post pretty much says what I would suggest, too. Other than using the archer, we also have the option of attacking with the warrior on the hill, if possible. Note that the warrior has move orders to keep moving south for exploration.

@gmaharriet: Oops. I knew that, but I forgot. Ah well. It (probably) isn't a game-killing mistake.

ill go last I guess =)

So, the final roster is:

choxorn
Tasslehoff: Just Played
Hawk Cheiftain: Currently Playing

Hey- If you want to keep Istanbul from rioting, don't turn lux up insanely high. Just use a specialist.

Ok, who's up next, Tad or Jokeslayer?

choxorn's right, especially now that we have multiple cities. Why waste cash from other cities when you could just use a little from Istanbul. I think Jokeslayer's next, but he needs to evaluate Hawk's set first.

I don't really like declaring with troops in babylonian territory. The rep/attitude hit is something we can do without. That lux tax in turn 6 is way way too high. Using a specialist and/or building a worker is almost certainly better.

I don't agree with that swordsman heading north after the barbarians. If we're fighting the babs this early (also not something I like, but I'll work with it) I think we need to hit them with as much as we can. Much better to take them down in one go than to have to make peace with them.

If I'm up next, I'll have to play tomorrow.

Any progress, Jokeslayer?
