5CC Regent Training Game

Don't we want to take advantage of the lake by putting cities around it?
By settling south of Istanbul, wouldn't those cities be more corrupt?
I thought that a player would want to put their cities in a ring w/the capital as the center to prevent corruption.
My vote is to put the next city 2 tiles N, 1 tile W of the grapes.

1 W of the grapes? That's way too close to Bursa IMO. We need to use all the tiles we can get in a 5CC, and sticking our cities too close together is a sure-fire way NOT to get full use of them. I kind of like either 4N of Istanbul, Overseer's Yellow Dot, or the spot near the cow NE of Bursa.

lurker's comment: I agree the spot 4 north of istanbul is nice if you move it next to the Lake (if fresh) you do avoid the need for an aquaduct. Plus those hills could be nice to have later.
As for the other suggested spots I like them all.
I like yellow but it seems far and how many Costal cites do you need.
Red is in the same boat but better central located with a free aquaduct.
Blue has got some nice land to work with.
@Choxorn Being 5CCC the canal city on the other side wont be all that important.

Tassle- I see your point. My vote is for the next city to be 4 tiles N of Istanbul, then 1 tile NE so it can have fresh water access.
2nd city, I like the Red dot.

choxorn, overseer: where should we put the city?

I don't really like putting the city ON the deer. Isn't it better to work the deer?

Anyway, I've got it. Will play today, maybe this weekend. I don't think the settler has an escort yet, so the decision can be delayed.

I'm afraid I'll have to fully drop out. My CD drive problems don't appear to have a solution. The computer just won't recognize its existance anymore. According to my dad, the only real fix is buying a new CD Drive and External Hard Drive (The one inside the computer has very little free space), or, a new computer, which is more practical. We're not exactly rich, so we can't do that immediately. I guess, eventually (maybe in a few months or so), we can save up enough money, or something, but It probably won't happen by the end of this game. :( I'll still be lurking, but I can't play.

4 N of Istanbul is not bad, but not right now, it'll take too long to get properly developed. In a regular game, yeah but not in this variant. You build2 types of cities in 5cc: permanent and temporary. Temporary is for unit support or strategic reasons. Permanent should be on a river, with lotsa food and shields, hopefully near the capital, but not so near as to hurt its production. Corruption should not be too bad with only 5 cities, which means forget Ring City Placement. We should always have 4 cities and maybe even 5, our military will be mostly razing enemy stuff. I like Blue best for a keeper city. Even better might be 1 east of blue dot, it fits all the criteria noted above. Yellow dot can only be a temporary town, as it has no river. I vote 1 E of Blue dot.

My vote is for the Red Dot.

Since Tasslehoff hasn't responded back in 3 days, I assume that he wants to skip his turn.
I might be able to play within the next 2 days.

Guys-since no Tad, Choxorn, or Jokeslayer, I could take one of their spots. I've never played a SG before, but this sounds fun. I have only conquered the world once, and that is the weakest aspect of my game, so I would love to improve. I can almost guarantee one hour a night, and 3 on weekends.

Edit: I don't know if I need to be a regent level player for this-currently chipping away at Emperor.
However, the one 5CC i played, I lost in about 1750 AD, on Monarch, so I could use some help.

Hawk- I assumed that you would understand that "I can't play unless I fix problems tonight" means I skip my turn if I don't make another post the next day.

However, I can play after you.

I'm still here, I'm just a mostly lurker. I can't play without a new computer, but I'm still here, and I can look at the game via MapStat.

I like the red and yellow dots as cities 4 and 5. yellow has East coast, 2 cattle, 5 BGs. Red has West coast, river, 4 BG's. Blue has 3 BG, cow on grass, and river, but is farther away from the capital and less productive.

Hey hawk, any progress? I haven't seen an official roster in a long time, and killer looks like a willing spirit. BTW, welcome aboard killerkid! 5CC with these settings will definitely be a challenge.

Thanks guys.

So now the roster would be:

Overseer: Just played
Hawk: UP
Tasslehoff: On Deck
Killerkid

Right?

Alright, I played since Hawk took too long.
