A Babylon 5 Mod for the Final Frontier Mod

Once again, very nice. When I get around to finishing up my mod, the Terran Empire will have its roster full.

I've not got much time on my hands at the moment, i've read through Premiers feedback and i've had some ideas on how to address some of the issues he raised. I'll try and respond properly at the w/e when i have a little more time.
However, i have one question. Should all or some of the ships be either upgradeable or made obsolete as new ship types come along. E.G. Olympus can no longer be built when Hyperion comes along or Olympus upgrades to Artemis once Artemis is available or Olympus upgrades to Olympus MK II and then to MK III as research gives access to new techs?

I ran into the same Olympus/Oracle problem with the engine glow/thrust, this time I put these a little back, the result is odd, but the graphics look better, I also tried opening more the thrust vector control surfaces but no success.

I believe we have to define a ship tree loosely based in the ship classes and their purpose, in this way, a new cruiser will replace an older cruiser, and it will not replace another kind/class of ship. For example, the Olympus will not be replaced by the Hyperion, because the Hyperion is a Cruiser (for frontline engagements), while the Olympus is a Corvette (used for patroling or as a support vessel for main combatants).

But we do also have to take into account ship coexistence, for example, the Nova, being older than the Hyperion, will not be replaced by the Hyperion, because, the Nova is a dreadnought while the Hyperion is a Cruiser, both are main combatants, however, both ships coexisted in the B5 timeline, also, a Nova while more powerfull than Hyperions, are less cost-effective than the laters.

Now the Omega is an interesting one, because, tho it coexisted with the Novas and Hyperions, it kind of replaced both, I don't know how should we handle the Omegas, but for starters we need to define the base-ship-tree. For example (taking into account my recomendations):

This is by all means preliminar and requires work (just to get the idea). As we can see, some ships get updrades, while others become obsolete and replaced. Ships that do not have a newer version or replacement should be upgraded, for example, the 1st Hermes shouldn't be jump capable, while its next version should get an upgrade in weapons and jump capability.

It is to be noted that for making the above tree, I'm taking the ship role, rather than its class, and, as we can see... the Omega is alone in its role (at least the way I hastily made that tree :p but that just means the tree has to be well thinked).

Perhaps we do need to add more ships, for example a warlock-era destroyer (Gemini):

About the Artemis:
I have little information on the Artemis, but by looking at its design I believe it pre-dates Olympuses, I have googled a little and found that some say the Artemis entered service in 2190, others say 2242 (around Minbari War), so I believe it is older than the Olympus, but upraded versions took place in the Earth-Minbari War... I also found that the Artemises saw action in the Dilgar War (as well as Olympuses).

Thanks for your comments. I just finished work on the Minbari Tigara Class Attack Cruiser, and its sister ship the Leshath Class ELINT Scout. They are quite similar (after all the Leshath is an ELINT version of the Tigara), but they have their differences.

It has a poly count of 1314 and uses the FF Fighter animation, I tried adding the FF Bomber animation to it, but the sounds didn't play well in interception mode.

Thanks for your comments, but I think you are overestimating me :blush:, there are some things I do not know nor understand, bones for example, I know what they are and what are they for, but I have little clue on how to use them:confused:. And just to clarify, the Gemini and the Monsoon are not my work :mischief:, just pics I could use as reference to make them.

Now, back on the Starfury Thunderbolt, I liked it a lot, so here is a render:

Hey I just wanted to drop by to say thanks for working on this mod, as per what I've played of it, it's coming along great. I am really glad to find a B5 mod for Civ4, these days it seems the fandom is much less than before. The ship models premier is making are just beautiful, and details aside, they play great on the mod. Well I would offer to help out but even if I learned to mod Civ4, I don't have the time at all to do so. In any case, thanks again and I will be looking forward to future updates.

For the Minbari Tishat, I was unable to find any good reference image, so I went a little blind in here, I took the Nial (also shown in the above pic) as base for the Tishat, light doesn't favor much this figther but in game looks better.

Also, I played a little bit with Nifscope, so also the Earth Alliance Command Omega is ready, I changed the texture a little bit, and also changed the animation (FF Destroyer), it has a poly count of 1372.

Very good job on the unit art.
A semi-related question:
Is it possible for a unit to carry both fighters and missiles without messing around with python or the dll? And separatly?(Eg: 2 missiles and 1 fighter?)

It is possible to allow a mix, but not a specific count of each type.

You can make both the fighters and missile be the same special unit type and set SpecialCargo to that type. Or just set the ship to carry air domain units in the DomainCargo and leave the SpecialCargo tag as NONE - with the iCargo tag set to 3 this will let it carry 3 air domain units, but the mix can be anything (1 missile and 2 fighters, 3 missiles, 1 missile and 1 fighter and 1 bomber, etc.).
