A Brave New World Part 2

Due to the new Danish statement regarding Scandinavia, Germany will state that, should Sweden be attacked by Danish forces, the German military will intervene on the side of Sweden.

At no moment we stated we would attack Sweden, we only said that we were ready to become the leaders of Scandinavia, as in the most important and powerful nation of the region.

Just a reminder to all to check the front page to see the deadline for the next update.

Also the Celtic Union is pleased to announce their recent deal with the Republic of New England for the leasing of the naval harbor at Scapa Flow for a low yearly rent. This deal and the territory involved will be renegotiated in 1937.

England regrets to inform her friends in New England that the Celtic 'Union' is currently under conjoined blockade from both our own and Germanies nval forces. However we are pleased to inform you that once these 'troubles' are dealt with and the blood thirsty celt menace vanquished we will be happy to rent the harbour to you for a even lower price

The words of your new king are not to be trusted. The previous king was a noble man, working to help unite Scandinavia. Now it seems the new king of Denmark wants to undo all that his father had worked so hard to achieve. Remember, our sons fought side-by-side in the Great War, we are not enemies. Should war come between our two nations, let it be known that it was brought upon us because of this new king. We do hope he knows his place in the world.

The words of our king, despite the seemingly veiled threat towards Sweden, are not to be held as belligerent towards you. He was simply stating his wish for Denmark to become the leading nation of Scandinavia and promised to work as hard as he could in order to do it, but even he knows how important democracy and good relationships with the rest of the world are to the Danish Empire.

We hope that any discomfort this might have caused within your nation may have been eased.

To England
From New England

We have made a deal with a legitimate government and we will receive what is now rightfully ours. We had hope that our two countries, which were allied in the War of Northern Aggression, would not have a disagreement over so trivial a matter as such a barren piece of land. By the nuances of diplomacy, Scapa Flow is now technically part of New England and by refusing to let our ships through, you would in effect be blockading New England, and neither of us want that.

Regardless of Danish intent, we will still protect our Swedish friends if Danish forces attack. We hope it never comes to that.

To: New England
CC: All Concerned

We urge the Republic of New England to acknowledge and steer clear of the blockade being made by the English Navy and the Kaiserliche Marine. We don't want to see any New Englander, or any non-Celtic/English/German ships caught in any potential crossfire from skirmishes on the seas. Otherwise, we acknowledge Scapa Flow's control by New England, and will keep violence away from the facilities.

With this, Germany declares that a state of war exists between the Empire and the Celtic Union.

And if Swedish forces attack Denmark? Will you protect us or just leave us? That would a double standard, considering that both Denmark and Sweden are part of the Berlin Alliance. Also, we wouldn't attack Sweden unless they attacked us first.

Since the whole statement was made after you made an address which threatened Sweden somewhat, a statement regarding your security from Sweden is irrelevant. If Sweden made a similar statement, then it would have been made regarding Denmark.

We hope Sweden makes no such threat.

OOC: This kind of thing is why I hate extremism so much. Why couldn't King Christian IX's son have been a person like his father? Stupid Shakesperean situation...

IC: We hope that our explanation for King Frederick VIII's words eased your discomfort towards us.

To Germany
From New England

As we stated before, as the deal is already done, Scapa Flow is now a part of New England and we will not be deterred from docking ships in our own port, as that would constitute a blockade on New England. Germany and England should wonder whether they really want to attempt to hinder our ships from reaching Scapa Flow and risk our involvement in this conflict, which none of us want.

We propose then that you simply import for the time being items that we have no problem entering The Celtic Union, such as English newspapers, socks and tea. However keep the food and guns out and this whole thing will be over before you know it.

OOC: I'm sure New England will love having their own economic affairs dictated by the German bloc.

We are establishing a naval base, which requires the transportation of arms and ammunition. Failure to allow us free access to and from Scapa Flow would constitute a blockade on New England, which is an act of war. We are beginning to reconsider our membership in the Berlin Pact, if this is the way that we are to be treated.

To: Those Involved With The Whole Scapa Flow Thing
From: Sweden

Be sensible. New England has only been a straight up honest ally to all of you and we can say from experience that they are a good, trustworthy ally. You should allow New England access to their own ports.

We have no problem granting them access to these ports. It is more a question of whether they will end up aiding these celts over their allies.

The Celts have offered us land in a diplomatic deal. Our "allies" have barred us from using said land and attempted to deny us usage of what is rightfully ours.

Only in the fear that just after war was declared you came to an agreement with your allies enemies we apologise if our reaction should have been more subdued but if your allies at the outbreak of war with france started making deals with them can you say your reaction would have been any different?
