they are in the UK, they simply sold the rights to another channel so now can show them all again.

Indeed. And it seems to be the same episodes over, and over, and over...

Of the newer episodes, I haven't been particularly impressed. But then what kind of world would this be without the Simpsons? :p

It's hard to put an end to what is most definitely the best TV show ever created.

I blame all the crapass Simpson's clones, alongside the simple length of the series, for the decline of the Simpsons. Family Guy springs to mind. yes, I know that teenage guys who love the internet also tend to love family guy, but it really is a crappy show. trust me.

I used to like Simpson's more, but there new episodes are just getting worse. I like Family more. Sure, some of it's jokes are pretty tasteless, but there is also some sophisticated humor. I just find myself laughing at Family Guy more then the Simpson's.

The Simpsons will not have a "humane" end. The episodes are already in decline, and its only a matter of time before they stop making a profit.

ANd yet the show seems to be making more money than ever. I think they stumbled onto the magic formula : dumber content = broader audience

I think they should end the series with Bart jumping over a shark on his skateboard.

I can understand why people here would like Family Guy. After all, white teenage kids who love internet and internet-style humor are family guy's key demographic. Still, you would have to be absolutely insane not to acknowledge that the Simpsons is a FAR superior show overall.

SAying the simspons should end is like saying that American Pop Culture has gotten to a point where it needs to just be removed from the face of the planet.

They already did that! (SIMPSONS DID IT!!! that a was a great south park episode..). Well, not exactly, but in one of thier clip shows, I remeber at the end they had a still shot of Homer jumping over a shark a la Fonzie. Well, at least they're aware of it...

I know you're after humane endings but I'd just love to see them all killed off in a horror / gorefest episode called:

"Ren & Stimpy Visit Springfield" or "Itchy & Scratch on the Loose".

Not that I dislike the Simpsons btw.

Simpsons has already died in the UK. There haven't been any new episodes for ages.

The Simpsons main problem is the fact that the show hasn't aged, and we have the same old characters and the same old jokes. In all seriousness, the only way I can see it surviving is if they kill of Homer.

BTW Futurama > Family Guy > The Simpsons (though without the Simpsons none of those would have existed)

Gotta take issue with your inequality there, and add AD just for good measure:

Arrested Development >> Futurama >= Simpsons >> Family Guy >> American Dad

There's a proper listing for you.

Family guy is ace, i love Futurama.. Simpsons has lost it now.. nothing new to do.

Family Guy’s most recent season is unfunny. They must not have much in the way of writing because they intentionally carry out jokes way too far by repeating certain gags or elements. And usually, by the end of the joke, you realize its utter crap. It’s turning into an annoying rehash of the Simpsons. I don’t care for any of the characters. Stewie’s latent homosexuality/ Lust for world dominance as with Peter’s stupidity and fatness are getting old. All the other characters are not even memorable.

I’m still incredibly pissed off they cancelled Futurama. That had so many prospects for stories that had a range of emotions, not just humor.
