A message to the Church of Scientology

I actually tend to agree with VRWC; however dangerous the organization represented by the Church of Scientology may be, that doesn't make it right to do something like this.

It isn't right, but it sure is great :)

Then again, the Scientology site is up, so these guys aren't doing a great job.

sometimes the law isn't enough

sometimes it's wrong

sometimes, the people need to act

as laws don't help

because

the law is afraid.

we aren't

we are anonymous, we can't be found, we can't be followed, we can't be sued

we can't be won

we aren't those vandalising morons

we help people

we save lives.

We harass murderers.

Scientologists are murderers.

(ever wondered why my name seems so anonymous?)

Methinks I've seen similar "leaps" of logic before ...

Oh yeah - other fringe groups.

Bluntly - CoS is a pathetic organization that resorts to questionable and illegal tactics. Resorting to the same tactics to go against them is just lowering to the same level.

I offer you the same respect I give CoS.

None.

I cannot believe everyone supports this. Yes, Scientology is probably one of the more idiotic and potentially dangerous movements around, but these little losers are still shutting down a legal entity's internet activity.

To compare it to a physical real world crime, it's more or less like breaking into a home and tying someone up against their will, preventing them from going anywhere or doing anything. It's things like THAT which I have a gun for, btw.
Oh, I can see how it's technically illegal. I'm just not really concerned about it, because the CoS is basically a gang. I may, and do have sympathy for some individuals in the church, but virtually none for the church itself as an organization. And besides - just because something is illegal or improper doesn't mean it can't be amusing. :p Humor comes often enough from the unexpected.

Not really. Because while taking down a website is an annoyance, it doesn't physically hurt or endanger anyone. Breaking into someone's home and tying them up does physically hurt and endanger them, and is a much more serious offense under the law. They really aren't comparable.

Scientology deserves whatever it gets.

Is ***** "right"? I'd say the ends justify the means here. No one is dying, and this is no less offensive than what Scientology does to its critics. I have zero sympathy for that "church". Maybe if it wasn't a blatant pyramid scheme or maybe if it wasn't using unethical psychological practices or maybe if it didn't abuse copyright laws or maybe if it didn't harass and smear anyone that tried to speak freely about it, maybe then I'd side with it.

Bo Yah Bi$c@! Now we just need to keep it like that for good! :D

The Church of Scientology must fall. Way to go whoever made that message.

Whats wrong with scientology? So they like to trick idiots out of their money. No different than credit card companies or QVC. Or the Lottery.

But do these tricks involve the death of people like Lisa McPherson. Or their notorious disconnection practaces to former Scientologists and cridics?

Or how about their habit of pulling off lawsuits and throwing dirt at their critics?

Thats worst comparison I have heard in a while. What you described doesn't even remotely or metaphorically resemble a denial of service attack. They are basically flooding the network not breaking into it.

No, it's much closer to lets say...Coming up to your house and knocking on the door, when you open, they say, so tell me something about yourself, and you do, and then close the door, and then they knock on the door again, and they keep doing it, until you don't bother to open the door.

Leave the dismantling of this criminal organization to the authorities, not internet vigilantes.
