A NES Wiki?

However, remember that story NESes also have many variations and subdivisions (someone should create a scale of "boardgameNESness to storyNESness").

And penguins. They can be part of the article.

Okay, I correct that to "someone should do an article about the great empires of the multiverse".

Well, DNES and other non-standard deviants can be lumped under Other, and explained on a case-by-case basis.

As for the board-story controversy, most non-board NESes are story to a degree, depending on how much the mod encourages stories and integrates them into the rules.

For example, NES2 VI could be considered more "story-based" than LINESII, since NES2 VI gives overt story bonuses. Though from a non-technical standpoint, LINESII depends more on stories.

Who outside of the CFC community, hell, outside of the NES community, even cares about the game?

Why create a wiki about which the only people who care will be the ones writing it?

Easy reference. It's as simple as that. Wikis are good for storing information.

Technically, the more you write stories, the more I like or am intrigued by your nation, and the more I dislike seeing them being defeated.

I prefer subtle bonuses such as these to +10 galleys for your story which had something to do with the ocean.

Though Thlayli, what do you mean by LINESII is more dependent on stories?

With unique cultures and no pre-written history, LINESII needs the players to build the culture and history of the nations from the ground up, through stories. In a more traditional NES, the nation descriptions and timeline do all of that.

Especially since LINESII is/was basically a fresh start with no historical guidelines.

IMO of course. ;)

Out of sheer curiosity, are you intrigued by Guangfei? :(

This is pretty much redundant, but eh... how many people will even view a NES wiki page? I mean, how many people will even know one exists as opposed to say the Victoria: Under the Sun Wiki page

What is standard?

Agree with Global Nexus and Thlayli about the usefulness of a Wiki.

Anything that falls into the pre-defined categories, I believe.

Now looking for a definition for each of the categories.

Also, let's take suggestions for 10 of the finest NESing military operations of all time. A diverse number of examples, ranging from Stalin's planned armageddons/betrayals to Luca's various comebacks. They can be compiled into a single article for NESers looking up useful strategies.

Ah... wouldn't that be kinda a waste of time? I mean, it's not really our problems some nesers won't take the time to look up the various strategies and not have it bookmarked.

I really don't think the effort is worth the result, it would be to me more of a "flavor" thing.. :(

Hmm, well how about grouping them into different types of strategies...Classical/Medieval/Renassiance/Modern, perhaps? It's certainly easier to have a written summary rather than having to dredge up the old threads and page through them.

perfect. well is this page up yet to start adding things?

@alex-Yes, and New Veritas too. It doesn't really show in your portion of the update, as the bonuses cancel each other out.

For example, due to Tellium's many stories, I allowed much of its government to survive conquest, and didn't harm it as much as, for example, Verta or Kerania.

Out of the current Civfanatics Wiki page, the NES section was originally written by me, although it was revised multiple times by other people.

As for this idea, I'm not so sure. But if you people can make this thing work and organize it well enough. I'll ask for it to be added to the Notice Board. That is if it works. And the lazy person that I am, with only limited knowledge of writing in Wikipedia (I did manage to write the original NES section though, but that's it). I'm not going to be of much help, I'm afraid. :)

It was the sliced bread wasn't it that got you hooked? But still, I'm not so sure Iggy, what about the Trinlin invasion. ;)

That actually is a much better idea :goodjob: Now if we can form a committee to work on this :mischief: Actually, I'm willing to work on some of this. If I may say so, I consider myself an average neser at war during the Renassiance era.
