Anyway, here is a hilarious pic :D. Read the log entry and you will get it :D. :goodjob: Afforess!

Yep, I added a bunch of easter egg Great People in, along with about 200 new names. Killtech, Os79, Zappara, Jdog5000, and a bunch of others are there too. :p

lol, nice.

judging form your screenshot the maintenance modifiers are not hard enough. quite a lot of gold at a acceptable research rate. guess need check on some maintenance modifiers for buildings and civics :(. which difficulty you play on?

i guess Joseph won't like the sound of it.

He's on Noble, which should be easy to get that much gold. ;)

Rev 222 Issue: Complied, installed (log below).

Error: Modules\Os79\Better Rom - Units\Better_RoM_Units_Civ4TechInfos.xml
The last </PrereqTech> is screwed up, caps-wise, and I'm getting an XML load error (easily fixed).

EDIT:
Installed Components:
{Required Files} {Military Civics} {Beautification Project} {Castle Improvements} {Ice Breaker} Meteorology Arctic Forestation {Sea Tunnels} Terraforming Sports {Early Buildings} {Historical Wonders} {Better RoM} {Modern Corporations} {Civic Diplomacy} {Building Upgrades}

Install Type:
Custom

Version:
1.74 Beta7
Thanks for the warning. Fixing now.

Edit; ninja'd by Os79!

Killtech: in the handicap file, there's a number of global maintenance modifiers -- perhaps you and Afforess can work on increasing them for the higher level difficulties (the amount of gold he has on Noble wasn't too strange to me...)

Hopefully this is more clear -- because movement speed increases linearly over the course of the game (e.g., units get more movement points), it would be difficult to have a "snail-game-pace" in the later game because units move so much faster (And with the commando promotion, they can use enemy roads). Simply put, movement and economic output/production don't scale 1:1, therefore later era games "feel" faster, regardless of modifiers, because how quickly units can be mobilized, move, attack, etc.

So my point being, if you are trying to impact late game economics:
- first, please play on a faster speed (I usually play epic), so you can actually get to the modern ages and see how some of your modifier affect game play (I find AI autoplay on Warlord to be an effective sandbox)
- second, if you're going to introduce large modifiers (e.g., -50% :hammers:) to "balance" the late game to make it feel slower, then you also need to scale the increased movement speed down as well

Hopefully more clear? :D
i do understand that there is an asymmetry between movement speed and economy. but i don't understand why this should cause an imbalance. in several game i've reached the industrial age and the rail road. so i know how it plays with fast unit movements and i didn't see any problem there (except for too fast building rate and that units without commando promotion take really long to pass through enemy territory - thus the huge defender advantage; very imbalanced when i was the defender).

is the commando promotion available for every unit now? i didn't use it so far.

perhaps removing/restricting commando promotion would solve it then?

Omg! Afforess cosniders me a great person! :woohoo: ;)
what class did i fall in if i'm allowed to ask?

Go to RoM/Assets/XML/Units and open up Civ4UnitInfos.xml and go down to Great Merchant, Great Prophet, etc, etc and check out their potential names there :).

Because of the amount of bugs and CTD's that were caught in Beta6, I'm releasing beta7, to be sure that all the issues are ironed out before an official release. If no major show-stopping bugs are here after a couple days, beta7 will be the official release.

Beta 7 Changes:
  • Fixed 3 separate CTD bugs.
  • Updated Buildingupgrade chains
  • Fixed Orchard Bug
  • Updated Military Buildings
  • Fixed Religious Icons
  • Fixed Marathon turns
  • Fixed Route Costs
  • Fixed Drama Tech
  • Exposed Zone of Control and Heavy Gate information to the player via plot hover text
  • Updated French Translations
  • Silenced End Right of Passage deals when open borders is started
  • Tweaked Better RoM Techs
  • Added Civilopedia text for coastal and river buildings
  • Automated City Defenders will not leave the city if they are the only unit defending
  • Forced Dynamic Civ Names each time an Alliance is formed
  • Fixed Compulsory Democracy event
  • Fixed Equestrian Guilds.

Enjoy!

Playing revision 216 last night, and found a couple of things, some of these look to have been fixed (roads giving money when being built, religion icons not showing in city bar), but the main one is if you found a city on a resource, for example deer, you can't build the furrier as it doesn't count as being in the city vicinity.

Bug report for revision 226:

1. Sometimes, the background color of the technology button in the big picture remains unresearched color after the tech was researched. And in reverse, Some buttons of unresearched techs appear the color for researched ones. If you refresh them by selecting and deselecting, they will be back to correct color. Except this bug, I noticed that the option of "show AND technology era color" seems to have not any effect.

2. Some buildings like Olympic Games and Academy have the effect of -??% Militray Production, but these buildings have not such effect actually.

I got a CTD in Beta7, running under Windows 7 Pro x86_64, fresh install of RoM and Beta7: Faulting application name: Civ4BeyondSword.exe, version: 3.1.9.0, time stamp: 0x4a0c27e6

The Treadmill Crane is a bit weird, it obsoletes with Steampower but gets its largest bonus with electrical Power i.e. long after it is obolete making it an expensive 5% building increase effect.

I'm fine with the obosletion date, maybe return to a flat 15% building increase? Or 5% + 10% if you have horses (did they get used? IDK heh).

I've been having this issue for a while now; for some reason I thought it was addressed, but guess not.

Music seems to be dependant on Mathematics rather than Drama. Or perhaps it's an "OR". This is in beta7.
Edit: Actually the depedancy that should go Literature -> Drama -> Music goes directly from Literature to Music. Visually the arrow in the Tech Tree goes through Drama.

Not sure if this is a bug. Using AND beta 7. As you can see in the screenshots the charismatic hover info displays some wierd message "+1:): 'Our leader is the best!' " that isn't in the effects area. But this same "wierd" message seems to work with humanitarian.

Revision 228, Recommend settings installed.

What the hell about these green faces !? There is an issue with the healer's hut. And this AI has a unbelievable strong researching power, he already researched the Machine technology while I'm researching the Bronze Working.

Plus, it's some strange about the city's defense value displayed on the city bar, it displayed many ???? before the number.

Yep, I found the cause of the crashing; a new bit of AI code.

Interesting find. I've corrected it.

Same bug as Slammer had.

7 Appears to be an unlucky number. If you haven't used Beta7 yet; don't. I'll release a fixed beta8 later today.
