A New Dawn Beta Builds

Few things:

Afforess: About Flexible Difficulty, unfrtunately, my suspicions are correct. You mis-ordered the options somehow. Also, I noticed that there is no longer Inquisitions option there as well.

Wait, Wait What!?

What options are mis-ordered, I know mis-ordering them from the SDK causes them to misalign, but I only added 1 game option, and to the end of the list; pretty hard to screw up.

I made an executive decision and hid and disabled Inquisitions. They were pointless without Revolutions, so I altered the SDK to auto-enable Inquisitions if you are running Revolutions. I was just trying to remove some of the gameoptions so It would be less confusing.

I played a game before I uploaded this one, are you sure the options are broken?

Just finished a game using the new ruthless AI option...was eliminated after about 300 turns despite having what I thought was a decent defense of town watchmen, 2x spearmen, and 2x archers with walls.

I'm lost, what bugs are there with Flexible Difficulty other than the Info Screen?

Not Info Screen, the message on the top of Scoreboard. It always was there when I played with it before. Now it is not there. Why not you start a game with just Flexible Difficulty option on and see for yourself?

300 turns, eh? Better than I did. I go killed 226 turns in. :(

The real secret to Ruthless AI is that I removed all psuedo-emotion Firaxis added to leaders. Now they are cold calculating beasts.

Couple of issues I've encountered using the most recent beta build - nothing gamebreaking, but mildly annoying. ;)

1. The "m" key doesn't make my workers build mines. All the other key commands appear to be working, but no dice on this one.

2. The "limited religions" option in the BUG menu doesn't appear to be working. I had the option checked, and still founded two religions.

I think I may have to try a fresh install. If the problem persist, I will report back :). Who know, it may had been my corrupt download.

Oh that.

I think I accidently removed it cleaning out the Inquisition python code. Flexible Difficulty still works fine.

Ahh, what a relief! I'm glad I was not in fantasyland there! Minor thing that can be waited for the next release. I did experience FD without that cool message before so I can live.

1.) Odd. I'll need to get a game up and test it.

2.) Probably a side-effect of the new Inquisitions code.

Two things:

1) Barbarossa should be Holy Roman. He was an Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. Not a big deal considering the Holy Roman Empire essentially IS Germany (or WAS), but considering they are two separate factions in the game, IT MUST BE SO!

2) How do I disable the thing that kills off civilizations automatically for havingt the lowest score?

Talk to Zappara.

It's called Final Five. Why do you need to disable it, it's disabled by default. However, in the case you need to turn off a game option mid game, save as a world builder save, open it in a text editor, then delete the game option line for final five.

So I can't play with beta11:cry:. I love revolutions but hate inquisitions and you are now saying I must have both or neither! I have not yet installed or played beta11 to be sure that what you seem to be saying here is what actually happens. However based on your statement above I wont be bothering.

Easy to change. In the Afforess_GameOptionInfos.xml, set bVisible to true for Inquisitions. Then enable them when you want them. You can still play Inquisitions without revolutions, just not the other way around. ;)

I'm also getting the severe slow-down with the Beta 11 scoreboard - so severe in fact that all the animations and the screen scrolling stutter horrendously when the scoreboard is activated.

Get a CTD when starting a new game. Huge Pangaea, no barbarians, flexible difficulty, tech diffusion, better diplomacy are my options. Gonna try making a map with no options and then standard options and see if any work. This is for beta11. beta10 worked perfectly

Smallest map size with no options crashes. :s

Disabling scientific/mastery victory conditions didn't help

I'm stumped.

Also I did a custom install, options were Realistic Diplomacy, Seafaring, Arctic, Reforestation, Lead From Behind, No Storms, Historical Wonders and Better RoM

40 minutes later and it turns out reinstalling fixed it :p. I'm pretty sure that the resource improvements were the problem. Not sure though

Beta11 MP game CTD right after launching the game.

Clean install, custom setup of AND.

Only thing different from this and beta10 that we're using is Warriors of God (what is this), Better RoM resources/artwork and the forest UI.

:help:

I know I've pretty much kept how I compile my sources, build my installer, and organize my files a trade secret... :mischief:

Well, today, that all changes. All of the files, code, and even my installer project file are available on a SVN, located on Sourceforge. The link to the SVN is on the OP. For those who don't want to install a SVN browser, Sourceforge has a decent one here.

The reason for this change is two-fold:

1.) It was a good excuse for me to clean up some and back up critical files.

2.) When I quit A New Dawn development, I suspect there will be a good deal of people who will want to see the base code.

It also should allow enterprising people to create their own Alpha builds. I don't recommend it for the average user, but the possibility is there.

This change shouldn't mean anything for the average user. ;)

Not sure why it should crash, but Warriors of God will cause OOS issues.

I think I'm going to add a multiplayer setup too...
