A New Dawn Beta Builds

Fortifications is no longer in the recommended install, but still in the custom. The other three had compatibility problems with RoM 2.9, and I (for the life of me) couldn't get them to work. The artwork got completely messed up, even though the paths stayed the same, and nothing changed. They are still in the SVN, if you can figure out how to fix them, I'd be grateful. ;)

Fortifications was not on the custom install. So attached is the "fixed" custom units or at least they work in the pedia and the fortification units work in game.

Problem 2. In RoM 2.9 holy shrine movies play in AND they don't. Neither do any of the AAranda or Orion Veteran wonders. I expect it is a repeat of a problem you solved earlier and I am going to try a fix myself.

The last Civ game that I played was 2 months ago, I think it was a 1.64 version. Although I read the forum 5 times a day, I only start games from times to times, and I don't like to betatest (sorry). That's why my feedbacks comes in waves. So, the time of start a new one is coming. So I have a question. I mean, it's kind of a doubt. Should I start a 1.70 game or should I wait for 1.71 version with the Economy Modcomp, which I want to try ASAP? I mean, how much time this new version will take to develop?

Up to you really. I'm starting to adopt shorter dev times between releases, so you will expect 1.71 mid-April, betas before then. I think RoM 2.9 is a breath of fresh air in terms of balancing, and that with Better RoM, it's nearly 100% balanced. Play a game, or two, then do something else... There's a R.U.S.E public beta, I want to try that.

Afforess, I'm confused with one thing. I looked at your to do list and it said everything was finished for AND 1.70. Doesn't that mean that the beta testing is over?

Although it's really great to hear that one fresh new version takes such a small time to be completed, I don't know if I can wait more 20 days without a good game... I think I'll play two games in a row then...

BTW, what's R.U.S.E.?

Does Ruthless AI affect the civs' willingness to capitulate? I've conquered all but one of Native America's cities and gotten their last city's defenders down to one, but still they claim 'they're doing fine on their own'.

No, that was one thing I left alone... The AI can be ridiculously stubborn, but it doesn't matter, because it's in your best interest to kill them off most of the time.

Switching subjects, I think this was the shortest beta round ever! Only 3, instead of the usual 10+. There weren't very many bugs either... :p

Sorry Afforess, I would love to be able to help out, but almost all my programming experience is on Unix/Linux, but if you ever want to port something to Linux, look me up

Lol, C++ & Python run on Linux, right? XML too? Then you should be able to mod Civ.

This is because working on AND is a constant job. Once you catch a bug, it does not appear in furher versions.

I also think that RoM 2.9/AND 1.7 ends a specific period. Now, due to your and Zappara's great effort, we have a nice, bug free and balanced game to enjoy for long time.

I know that this is not over, and there will be more content and features coming for next versions. However, I think now it is time to take a long breath and just have fun for a while.

Maybe the S.....ting Bull's administration and commanders were afraid of telling the leader about the critical situation his empire is in? It happened so in early 1945 in Berlin, where the German leader was planning another offensive, by moving the already destroyed armies on the map.....:crazyeye:

I'm grateful to you like my proposal. Here is the icon made by me, you need to unrar it to DDS.

Nice Icon. I actually already included this feature in 1.70, but I just used an old Civ4 icon. I'll update the icon to your first chance I get. ;)
