A New Dawn Beta Builds

CTD on queuing the Water Tower from Hydromancer's water buildings modmod.

Great Commanders not working. That is, unless I'm doing something wrong. You just need to share the same tile with the GC to get the bonus for the unit, right? That worked at the start, but then I moved the stack and it now no longer works at all. Sorry that I can't be more specific.

Custom start, Full of resources map, OCC.

BTW, love AND. Tried playing RoM without it and found myself getting tired of the game fast. You're modmod adds all those little things that make the game that much more fun.

Lol, I know what you mean. I booted up RoM 2.9 and was like " What, Peaks are useless again!"

The water building bug is related to an installer issue. As for Great Generals, I honestly haven't used them. I'll test them out. New beta this evening if all goes well.

Seems like the 1.70 beta only works with better rom enabled. Disabling it leads to tons of xml errors while starting civ. Tried various module combinations and it seems that disabling better rom is the only reason a new dawn wouldn't start.
Is it intentional for the hypermarket to replace only the supermarket and not the grocer, thus leading to the hypermarket/grocer combination in late game (since the hypermarket doesn't give any resource boni as grocer and supermarket do)?
On another note the mastery victory didn't properly replace the religious victory back in 1.64 (with only mastery victory enabled in the custom game options). I would sometimes end up winning a religious victory and have to keep spreading at least 2 religions to avoid that. Has that been fixed by now? I only found posts on Afforess fixing the scientific victory/mastery victory issue.

Okay, thanks for testing the install. I have fixed those XML errors in my next beta.

As for the Religious Victory, I had no idea there was a problem. I'll look into it.

I have a question. AI is a better for modmod affores 1.70 or RoM 2.9?

"AI improvements" - How you improvement AI?

I assume you are asking:

"Is the AI better in A New Dawn or Rise of Mankind?"

The answer is that the AI is better in A New Dawn.

Beta2 is out; with some new improvements and a lot of bug fixes:

New Features of Beta2:

  • Speed Improvements (~5% faster turns in the late game due to new caching code. The effect will be more pronounced the more players there are in the game)
  • Occasional Promotions
  • Improved AI Great Commander code

Bug Fixes:

  • The Water Mod installs correctly
  • XML error when Better RoM was not selected are fixed
  • Smartmap will no longer place shrimp on land
  • Fixed 2 possible causes of CTD.
  • Domesticated Animals XML errors fixed
  • Grocer now correctly upgrades to Hypermarket as well

Saves between Beta1 & Beta2 are NOT compatible.

Yeah I find that early game seems so naked without General Staff's Early Buildings.

I would hate to try to play vanilla Civ4. It would feel like pong compared to A New Dawn.

I get this error when loading your beta2:

Tag: TECH_EXTREME_SPORTS in Info class was incorrect
Current XML file is: modules\Hydro\Misc\Misc_CIV4BuildingInfos.xml

I did not install "a Better ROM" but I did install "Hydro's misc buildings". The game did load up after the error. Thanks

flexible difficulty doesn't seem to be working on eternity game speed (4500 turns) i have gotten past 450 (10%) turns with no change in difficulty level and have been the number civ the entire time

The Revolutions Uncovered options no longer gives me numbers for the various options. This looks more tidy, but is it intended?

Also, the number of turns of anarchy during civic change has gone missing from the Civic menu and the upkeep cost line is still clashing with the Cancel button.

Looks like Hydromancer didn't use dependancy tags like he should of...

Anyway, thanks for reporting this. I've fixed it for the next release.

On Eternity speed, it is checked only once every 400 turns (50 turn check * anarchypercent in gamespeed XML / 100 = 400). Have you met everyone on the map? You may actually be in the middle 1/3 of the scores, and been unaffected.

Are you sure you are playing AND 1.70? Revolutions Exposed is working fine. The upkeep was fixed a while ago.

Just want to make sure Aff, you already fixed those barb maximum xp bug didn't you?(doesn;t get a good connection here, can't download yet :p)

This is something I've noticed for awhile but keep forgetting to mention. Every game I've started lately there is little to no corn in the world. I am using ROM PerfectWorld. Once there was one corn, but usually there is none until I add some. I haven't started beta 2 yet, but I will check it as well.
