A New Dawn Beta Builds

Revision 228, Recommend settings installed.

What the hell about these green faces !? There is an issue with the healer's hut. And this AI has a unbelievable strong researching power, he already researched the Machine technology while I'm researching the Bronze Working.

Plus, it's some strange about the city's defense value displayed on the city bar, it displayed many ???? before the number.

It has to do with the AI bug I mentioned before.

I've found a bug again :) (Beta 7)

My worker has two buttons for removing the jungle. One of them needs iron working to work, the second doesn't have any prereqs. So I can remove jungle from the very first turn on.

That's intended. The early one gives you no production, the later one does.

In beta7 I get a strange "issue" where guilds randomly incorporate themselves in random cities despite not having any of the pre-reqs. Haven't researched guilds, don't have a Great Merchant nor indeed any of the pre-reqs.

See the attached screenshots.

If you are playing with Realistic Corporations, Guilds start spreading as soon as 3 players have the tech for them. Same with Corporations.

Hmm, you know, the yield display is mayby little confusing. Modern mine gives lead -1:commerce: but with bourgeois (I think it's a civic) it gives +1:commerce: and civilopedia displays it as +0:commerce:. (It also doesn't notice the -2:food:) I'm also not sure if that Improvements part in the bonus page should count civic changes to the final yield changes because you're not going to run them necessarily. But this is just my opinion.
Beta8 is up. It fixes all of the problems that plagued Beta7. Enjoy!
Does it break save games?

When using the compiler is it okay to just select the update option once the initial download is completed? I just then export is again and jammer it right?

Your really fast at catering to our addiction needs :) thanks

He's on Noble, which should be easy to get that much gold. ;)

Seems dudeSDCA is the only one that realizes what I've been trying to say.:(

JosEPh :/

i've played on noble too, but there is honestly no sense for me to do so. noble is for me like cheats=on. i only use it to compare AI behavior to mine.
Because of the scarcity of valuable resources, that is the driving reason to keep eXpanding. If I wait the AI gets the Iron and I don't. It' Really that Simple.
in such a situation i wait. even if the AI gets it. if i can't take it without ruining my economy i

I've noticed for sometime now that the AI vs player placement an # of resources nearby is weighted in favor of the AI. Therefore I have less resources to work with. And Only thru eXpansion can I claim the resources I Need to Survive. Now this strategy may make playing Deity a challenge but on Noble it's a Deadly Handicap ( I DO like to win occasionally you know).
anything that is a deadly handicap on noble will kill you right off on deity. you know that deity is much much harder??

I understand the eXpansion Rush, but when I have 3 cities and the AI has anywhere from 3 to 7 cities I'm in serious trouble if the AI's that have more cities (and therefore more resources) decide I'm "unfriendly".
no you aren't in any touble. if the has 7 cities early on you can be quite sure it just screwed its economy. all you need to do is wait and watch how they become weaker and weaker and fall back technologically while you research and develop your economy. then you build up your military one day and take those cities you want and let the rest to your new vassal.

Seriously you guys that play at Emperor and above have to rein in your playstyle and imposition of your way of thinking or you will kill off the Noble and lower level players. Do you understand that? What works for you may Kill me! This is why I stated a long time ago that ALL betatesting should be on Noble level, so you can see how your mod works on the avg level. If it's balanced there (Noble) it Should scale properly for the other levels.
well, i made some games on noble difficulty when i tested how the AI is doing. played on noble because wanted to them to me. and guess what? i nearly won the game at classic age through mercy rule.

there is no sense testing things on noble as the AI is far too stupid to compete. i get every single wonder and tech first (from classic age on). threre's not much i can test that way.

Thankyou Afforess so much for making this mod/modmod!!!

I have been trying out a few mods as I'm kind of bored of civ4, and this mod is AWESOME! By far the best I've tried, and to be honest, its WAY better than the original game! Most mods I've tried have bogged my system down and slowed it, this runs just as fast as Vanilla!

I wasn't sure when installing this so I installed the 2.92 version of RoM, so have had to use the betas (Im in New Zealand so takes forever to download the older version of RoM!). They have been great. Got the CTD on the beta 7 build, and stoked that you have already put out an 8! Can't wait to get home to try it.

I've hooked me laptop up to my 1080p LCD and have been loving some big screen A New Dawn from bed! hahahha!

Sorry if this isn't the right thread to post in, but love your work, thanks so much for doing it, and for updating these betas to fix bugs as they happen.

Sid Meir should give you a damn job! You've mad Civ4 better than it ever has been for me!

You know why you don't like the lower levels? It's because you see the patterns for victory and you religiously follow them. To the point that it Kills the fun. You just said so yourself "cheats=on" for Noble.

Instead of playing the patterns try the less traveled road. Sure you'll get caught off guard and may have to struggle or even lose a city or 2. But heck maybe you can squeeze in that happy building before that nasty AI stack arrives and get that 1 more unit built just in time, or not and get caught with your pants down. But so what! Can you recover? Sure if you follow the "pattern". But what if you don't?

Your actually stuck in a rut of familiarity. Get out of the Box! Try a different approach, a way you've not traveled before.

But of course I speak of whim and whimsy of which you are not familar. :( You only know "logic" and it's companion "analysis". I don't know if you will ever have "Fun" with this game or it's opposite angst.

I wish you well, but your "path" isn't fun.

JosEPh :(

I for one fail on anything above Noble :(

I know this isn't the right thread, but any tips? Seems my units can never kill anyone above it, it feels like I need 10 X the amount of units the enemy has!
