A New Dawn Beta Builds

How about this modcomp being incorporated to work with the Improved Air Defense modmod in this modpack? Both defenders (the already present modmod) and attackers (if you use this new modcomp) will benefit. Or is that a bit too much?

I can just code in the new experience for those missions. It's like 2 lines of code for each mission. ;)

I meant being part of A New Dawn vision "too much?" not your skills. I never for one whit of a second doubted it :D.

What? No. All in all, it was like 10 lines of code.


Anyway - For Civ5, I for my part, I will be doing what I do best. Not adding new content (buildings, units, improvements, etc...), but adding new features (Advanced Diplomacy, Dynamic XP, Realistic Corporations). The features are what's really fun for me. I'll leave the content to those who like doing that, like Zappara, and I'll be willing to add new features (new XML tags) for that content to boot. ;)

After watching the livestream, the first thing I thought was, gee, I bet he wishes he had Advanced Unit Automations, so he could send that Brute out to pillage barb encampments while he payed attention to more important matters. Then, when he met Hiawatha, I was like, what, no unit trading? :lol:

Basically, AUA and AD are my first two civ features. While watching, I also realized how much of the back end SDK is probably similar to the current setup. In fact, it's probably simpler now, because unit grouping is gone. :p
 
I would love to see new features added. Diplomacy is a must. Ruthless AI would be fun to have around. I don't use ADU too often.

You might even have fun messing around with City-States. Who knows? You could change how puppet states work. :)

Yes exactly. Those all sound like tons of fun. Who needs vision when you can add game options! :lol:

Seriously though, I do plan on getting to all of those good features. ;)
 
Can't wait for an official release of 1.75. I plan to use it for a forum game until I'm ready to do the same for Civ5.
 
I disagree. We play 4 players MP with no problem reconecting to save game in BETA 1. We had almost no issue exept with flexible difficulty on, when that was disable than every thing works damn well, never MP games has work as well since . . . well it has never works that good befor.

Interesting, may be it's the player number ? ( although that seems wierd ). Or operating systems - which do you have ? all win7 or winXP ? or mix ?

Which options are you using in game ? Could you upload a save for me to investigate ?

Cities built after nanobotics end up missing out on industrial parks and manufacturing plants because the tech made factories obsolete. This was a problem for several buildings in 1.74, I recall not being able to build nukes as Russians a few months back, because the quantum labs I built replaced my institutes and prevented me from building the nuclear laboratories. I have only had time to test out the factories today.

See, that works out for people like me because I can build new units/civs/abilities out of thin air, but my expertise in Civ IV stopped at python, so coding entirely NEW things was out of my hands unless I wanted to do really tricky Python work like I did for Xiven in Fall Flat.

Try turning off everything barb related. I've never had a game with barbs that didnt loose sync at some point, usually fairly early on, then continue to go out of sync during the game.

We will do a test with Beta 2 tonight, with 4 players on a small island maps with only 5 civ at start (so 4 human + 1 AI), and barb civ on like we always have.

We will see how far we play befor the first OOS.

Ahh ok, my bad.
Let me know if you can reconnect after any OOS, my friend and i used to play every other night for 3-5 hours but we have given up for the moment, partly due to people going back to uni etc but mainly due to the inability to restart saved/oos games.

No problem with save on Beta 1, even after OOS. will see tonight with Beta 2
 
hi, about the installer, if your running with a font larger than the default in windows 7 (125%) you cannot change the installation directory, nor read the intire text in any of the boxes since they are outside the window, and its been resized locked.
 
Cant load save games (and thus out of syncs) on beta 1, havent had a chance to try beta 2 as yet.
 
The modern steelworks and the jumplane portal are too weak when built in large cities. If you have built all the buildings that they replace then the bonuses are lower with the modern replacement.

Confirmed -- I'm seeing the same issue.

As Killtech has reminded us a few times, static + X bonuses will never add up to overcome +x% bonuses...
