A study on Teleportation

I was testing with the Legionary unit. (just with extra animations)

Then I realized it can't teleport, I took off "Start golden Age". Nothing. Then I tried with the Impi. That won't teleport either, so I added the Immortal. Then I used Cossack. That would act as a telepad. Then I used a Panzer, and made the MA teleportable and telepadable. Panzer can't act as a telepad, but the MA can.

Found it purely by accident.
 
Please note, that you can adjust for each unit what are there legal unit (and building) telepads. It seems, the unit can´t teleport to a telepad unit that isn´t a legal telepad for that unit even if the unit is in that telepad units´range.

The same for building telepads. It seems you can teleport from one building telepad to another building telepad (and capture that city if it´s owned by another civ) if the unit has the teleport ability, but only if the other building telepad is a legal building telepad for that unit.

For those worried about having a city captured by another civ by teleporting in, doesn't waht Civinator said above mean, that each civ could have only be allowed to teleport into its own cities? Just add identical units in the editor, make them unique units to each civ and also give each civ a unique building. Presumably you would have all the graphics the same, not necessarily. Anyway, you could make it so only your guys can teleport into your cities, but still have teleport to units enabled as well.

EDIT: oh, maybe it was obvious, but I just discovered, that a teleportable unit with itself as a telepad with teleport to itself. What I mean is if you click on a unit to teleport and click the same square, that counts as a teleport!
 
Sorry to pull a seven year necro on this thread, but I have discovered some new info regarding teleportation:

Oh man, you are gonna love what I just stumbled upon. Apparently the problem was with the Offense and Defense AI strategy flags. When I uncheck the Defense AI strategy for the telepad unit, then I can teleport units to it, but if the telepad unit has the Defense AI strategy checked, teleportation stops working.

Holy bananas my mind is spinning right now!
 
Commodore, that´s an interesting addition. :) In my tests long ago it also worked with air units.
