A visual experiment: Would you like Civ3 to look like this -->

Well, I just made a test mod, and got really close to the screen, and proved myself wrong. (The fortify is very unnoticable with the warrior, which is what I have based my posts on)

So yes, camps as the fortify will look odd.

Sorry for the confusion

Hrmm... I have that Fantastic Worlds CD somewhere in my archive... In the attic... Past the asbestos bins and inside a locked cabinet. I'm not sure where I put the key. I may need to bring some canned food. :ack:
I'll see if I can't upload them tomorrow after school.

<evil>Oh, and do you think, instead of the hitpoint bar, you can have the units die off one by one?</evil>
Seriously though, great work! When I start working on my custom units (read: Tenth of Never) I'll be sure to make the munits for those who will use this mod. Steph's program will be a lot of help!

Munits... I love that word ^_^

An excellent and adriot suggestion sir, with just two minor drawbacks....
First, it can't be done.
And second, it can't be done.
Now I know that they are both the same, but it is such a fundamental drawback that I thought I would mention it twice.
("Well that puts a crimp in an otherwise damn fine plan")

Seriously, yes please Veera Anlai! :D

Lets us know if it works as you thought it would.........

Well I just tried it out on my spearmanFortify.flc and I thought the effect looks just fine. I'd certainly like to see someone do it. Unfortunately I'm pretty useless at that sort of thing, I have to rely on others.

I'm waiting to hear from Steph before we talk to Thunderfall.

Sorry, I had no time to switch on my home computer yesterday, so I was unable to work on the tool (I don't think my boss will be very happy if I do this at the office). I should do this evening and tomorrow.

:( Sorry I take so long to work on this tool, but I have only a couple of hours available each day, and a good part of it is spent on this forum. I have a bit more time during the week end.

So, be patient!

And Kryten, I think you can talk to Thundefall.

Thank you very much th0mas. :)

Do you have the "Fantastic Worlds" expansion disk, as I am still looking for more "machinegun battles".....and especially that musket volley with the officer shouting "FIRE!", as well as other musket volleys.

I do indeed, although not with me at the moment.

I'll dig it up at home and send you some more wav files

PROGRESS REPORT
------------------------

*I have made a request to Thunderfall in the Site Feedback Forum for a new "Completed Multi Units Forum", and am awaiting his responce.

*Steph is still continuing to work on his utility tool (which is almost ready, but understandably, he wants to perfect, improve and fully test it before releasing it).

*th0mas, Veera Anlai, and I hope others, are looking for sound waves that would be suitable for MF units.

*Civanator is working on 'encampments', should people prefer to use these instead of an MF unit fortify.flc .

*And I am conducting MF army experiments, as well as checking Steph's utility to see how we can use it to best effect.

I'll keep you all posted of any new developments.

(This project is racing along faster than a Civ3 train.....and it is still only 5 days old!!!! )

Gosh, I hope I have room on my web server for all the unit conversions that will be made in the near future.

GIDustin

P.S. I can help convert units using the tool, i have nothing else to do.

Well, considering how lazy I am ( and Im sure others are) We should get quite a few units done.
Just so I get this clear, Stephs tool doesnt require any artwork by the creator? (im not trying to take the easy road, its just that I dont have any 3d skill) When doing this for existing units?

Also , Can I suggest something? Perhaps , built in to stephs tool, a utilitie for duplicating one wav inside one file?
Say for example , you wanted multiple infantry units , you would select how many times you wanted the attack.wav duplicated...a little processing time later, The same attack sound played at intervals , which should simulate the infantry attack.
Perhaps this would require alignment tools , corresponding to the intervals in the main .flc .

I realise this is a heck of a programming job, but done right would halve the time required for the setup of new units

I don't have the smallest hint of 3d or even 2d skill. That's why I make tools. So when working with existing units, you have no artwork to do.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/about.php?lang=en

This is the web address of a very good sound program that could be used for greating sounds for these units.
It allows you to edit, cut, and layer .wav files within a time frame that you chose.
Its very easy to use, and completly free. I hope it can be of some help.

PS. Sorry i couldn't provide the link, i don't know how.
If sombody else can copy the URL and create the link it would be much apprecited......and maybe inform me on how they did it. (?)

Rejoice, for I here your plea:king: !

After several request to include a size reduction feature in my SBB, I've done some testing.

First, I've included it in the single unit utility, so people like Kinboat can generate big bitmaps with thier favorite 3D program, and then generate the storyboard with an automatic size reduction (they just have to specify the size of the frame they want)

Go there to see some screen shots.

Now, I'm wondering if it has any interest for munits

Someone said he wanted smaller units if using the multi figures formation. So tell me what you think (check the % just above the preview, at the bottom right)

Note : only the preview is reduced, not the storyboard yet, I want to have your feedback first.

No. I'm against. MFigures look great with current size and there is no need to reduce it. Figures are now small, and when they are even smaller details wont be visible
