During my scouting of the English territory, I noticed that most English towns are still defended by reg spears. Only an occasional reg pike here and there. (IIRC I saw only two pikes, one of them in London.)
You're right. Declaring in 7T won't hurt our per-turn trade rep, according to Bamspeedy's article -- but definitely will hurt our RoP rep (so we won't be able to sign one with the English or the Vikings again, so this betrayal had better work the first time...). It might also annoy AICivs who are currently 'gracious' towards us (might it be worth making MAPTs against England on the same turn we DoW them?).
Oh dear, Lizzy. I think you might be in trouble...During my scouting of the English territory, I noticed that most English towns are still defended by reg spears. Only an occasional reg pike here and there. (IIRC I saw only two pikes, one of them in London.)
Our vacation schedule begins Friday night (takeoff at 3am Saturday morning...I might be able to finish my turn set by Thursday, but I'm not 100% sure. I don't mind swapping with someone to keep the game going.
Swapping is fine with me.Soooo... I wouldn't mind swapping with MRG, if the rest of you (Lanzelot, Choxorn, and CommandoBob at least) are OK with it? I'll check responses about 8pm CET today, and if OK, I can download the save and play/post tonight/tomorrow...?
No, we're doing it for fun, which is a much stronger motivator (for me, anyway)... You'd have to be a very rich person to pay me enough to stay up until 3am to work... (I'm talking Bill Gates-type rich here)I'm fine with waiting two days. We are not in a hurry. (And we are not getting payed for this...)
Okey-dokeyYes, if it actually works better for both of you, then just swap![]()
So I'm not the only one that does that. When I play an SG, I usually type everything into notepad while playing (Alt-Tab back and forth between Civ3 and notepad) and save it on the hard-disc once in a while... (Old habit from the days of Windows 3.1...)
Since MAs are no longer in place, I sign peace with Chinese (they give 3g) and Japanese (they give 6g).
...
Hamburg riots! (loss of WH?)
Ok, that kind of compensates it.Sign RoP with Japan for 10g, and get Furs for Currency+170g. Japan now Polite
That was in London, right? Otherwise we need to make it a priority now to capture it asap!English switch Knights Templar to CopsOb!
Yeah, sorry about that -- I couldn't remember off the top of my head why we were at war with the Japs as well as the Chinese. Choxorn said to cancel the defunct MAPTs, so I did that, then had a brainfart and made peace with the ex-mutual foes as well. For the record, the Mongols did sign peace with the Japs shortly afterwards (can't remember if I noted that in the log?), so it was just as well we dumped the MAs when we did.We were getting WH from the Japanese!(That was the whole point of all that MAPT deal business...)
Yes it was, sorry if I didn't make that clear. When the Indians built KT, the English switched their own KT-build (in London) to Cop's -- and then shortly afterwards lost all those GW-shields in one go...That was in London, right? Otherwise we need to make it a priority now to capture it asap!
If I remember right, they're all broke -- either because they're buying our older techs for GPT and thereby funding our current research, and/or they're buying our Luxes... And the Mongols and Indians (but not Liz yet, strangely...) are currently also going for SisChap as well as Leo's, so they won't change those until one is built by someone. Also, no-one is yet building Bach's, but I don't know how inclined the AI is to go for Music Theory rather than Astro? So I don't think 1-2 extra turns on Cop's (extra time to get troops into position if necessary) is such a huge risk yet. Also, Hamburg could really do with more than 5-6 SPT...The handover notes all make sense to me. However, I want to emphasize that we should not slow down Cope's now! The big cascade is still ahead of us, and it is quite likely that other nations will discover Astronomy (or get it from England) within the next 9 turns
Yes, as I suggested. I recommend hitting Richmond then Nottingham, and maybe bringing the B'bucht stack down to Warwick and then Liverpool as well, to gut the English core before making peace with them andOf course that means that we need to make preparations to retake London in 8 turns from now. The Barbarossa stack should perhaps take 1-2 more towns in the vicinity of London, but not move too far away.
I haven't researched it in detail, but I have got the strong impression that whenever I build a Worker out of a captured/ shrunk/ regrown Pop2 town, I always get a native unit, never a slave. Similarly, if I build a Settler from a captured/ regrown Pop3 town with 1 foreigner, 2 new natives, I get a native Settler -- but if it's 2 foreign, 1 new native, I get a slave.BTW: Weizenheim's first citizen was Danish, because it was founded with the settler that disbanded Copenhagen. At the time the settler finished, Copenhagen had one German and one Viking citizen, and the settler got the Scandinavian citizenship. (Actually I don't know, whether there is a 50-50 probability or whether in such a case the settler will always get the foreign nationality?!)
