Afforess's Modmods

hi, I downloaded the file under the Rise of Mankind folder, and then tried to use the application but when it actually got to the point where I could download under the file that it wanted to the message I got was that I didn't have permission. How do I solve this?

I'm sorry, this post doesn't make much sense to me.

It doesn't matter where you download the file to, only where you install it to.

If you are getting an error with Vista/Win7 about lacking permission, right click and "run as administrator"

you got it right, I needed to run as administrator to get permission.

dang, right after i post it I got an error saying that there was an error with building install/uninstall. Right now the installing window is still up but it seems stuck at building uninstall. I'll wait some more to see if it will work

If the installer hangs, you'll need to kill it, and start anew.

I managed to open up a game to see if it was downloaded and when I checked the civics screen neither the military nor ideological civics were added. Also, I didn't really see anything different about the rise of mankind folder after I used your application. Are there any other steps I need to take after downloading the application and successfully running it?

the uninstaller is on my desktop, though, its not in the rise of mankind folder

Are you sure you installed it to the right folder? It defaults to the Beyond the sword expansion folder, if you have Civ Complete, Gold, or Steam Edition, you need to change the install directory.

Is there a limit to how many religions one may have in a city? I keep getting a failure to spread a certain religion in a city that already has 7 religions and is the holy city to 3 of them.

Thanks in advance.

No, but each successive religion decreases the chances of future religions; holy cities even moreso. With three holy cities, your odds are extremely low.

i have the regular version of beyond the sword, no golden or steam and I checked the folder. I know enough that it was the right folder. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and didn't see any difference in the rise of mankind folder again. I'm loading my civ back up to see if it worked this time. It will take a while since my computer is old and slow.

Start a map up. If you hover over the civilization flag in game, and my modmods were installed, it should say "Afforess's Modmod 1.4"

Gracias!

when I put the cursor over the flag it says unofficial 3.19 patch v 1.3 pre-release
better bts AI v.81M

Then it didn't install. Try installing it again, but right click on the installer and select "run as Administrator"

i right clicked "run as administrator" to fix the first problem I had of not having permission. I put the uninstaller in the recycle bin (its a looong story why, so its better for now to assume I have a good reason) would that mess things up?

should your modmod be directly in rise of mankind, or should I put it in another folder in rise of mankind like docs from combined mods or something

It only took about 20 different "priests" to finally get the religion setup in the city. Now it has 9 religions. :)

No, it needs to be installed to the Rise of Mankind folder.

well, then I'm out of ideas. I put it in the rise of mankind folder, I ran it as administrator. Each time i've uninstalled and installed the application says that it is working fine, I have no clue why the folders are not getting installed

Okay, let's run down the list here.

First off, your have Rise of Mankind in your C:/Program Files/Firaxis Games/Sid Meier's Civilization 4/Beyond The Sword/Mods/Rise of Mankind path, correct? (Or at least, something similar to that)

You are pointing the installer to that path.

You are running as administrator.

If that is all correct, try installing it to a new folder on the desktop, and drag those changes inside the Rise of Mankind folder manually.

ok I changed the directary to the desktop and a folder appeared called assets. I opened it and it looked like the same assets that is in the rise of mankind folder, is this right? should I add the new assets folder in?

Just merge the two folders together, and allow any overwriting.

ok i think i merged the files. The assets file still says it was last modified a while ago, but I'll load up a game and see if the modmods were installed

ok new problem (i think my computer hates me)

I am loading up rise of mankind mod and I just got this xml error:
tag: z ADER_BARBARIAN in Info class was incorrect
current XML file is: xml\GameInfo/CIV4ForceControlInfos.sml

well the mod still started up, off to see if the modmod was installed

the modmod was installed, when i put my cursor over the flag it says afforess modmod's version 1.4
and I just started with 3 stones which never happened before, yay!

ugh just noticed a problem. When I start up and go into the civics page I don't see either of the two new civics mod and I don't see an area in options where I can manually turn these mods on. I also don't see any of the new buildings. I'm playing a game and when I founded a new tech i got a bunch of messages saying bug error something with tech. and mountains don't give anything. safe to say that something is going on with the modmods
