Afforess's Modmods

What do you mean allow specialist slots to be changed? Like add or remove them?

I like the idea for techs to alter the base commerce given by a specialist based on tech.

No... ATM, the TechSpecialistChanges changes the number of specialist slots buildings give, nothing else. It was wrongly listed in the guide.

Are you running the Mega Rise of Mankind, or the Megapack of civs? It happens when your computer can't handle all the graphics. It's completely unrelated to my modmods.

the same happened to me.. but only when i installed ur modmod beta5!:confused:

i could play ROM 2.8 mega pack normally :confused::confused:

can u review this??

thanxx!!

For beta5, I had that problem, but turning off high detail terrain in the graphics menu seemed to fix that problem. Try that.

Beta Builds are by there very nature, unstable. Complaints should go in the Beta thread.

First off, I salute you for working to make Civ more interesting. You even seem to enjoy it :). I have been following your work, albeit silently, and like most of what I have read, that you are trying to accomplish. Please keep it up.

My question is, and this may emphasize my newbie ignorance on mods, but are these modmods you have here currently in this modpack, compatible with RoM2.81 patch newly released? I noticed in your Beta thread you stated not to upgrade to 2.81 till you have done something with the beta.

Hi, how do you turn on/off some of the features?

The download is an installer, where you can disable/enable features there. Some are custom game options which you disable or enable when setting up a map.

Unless you are referring to disabling a feature after it has been installed. It's a bit more tricky. If it's been installed, and you want to remove it, just delete the modules/Afforess/NAME_OF_FEATURE_HERE folder. If it hasn't been installed, and you want to add it, you need to reinstall.

so do a full install and then make an Afforess folder in unloaded modules and stick the ones you don't want to there?

Generally speaking yes. However, if it's a modmod that isn't 100 percent modular, errors might occur.

Ok I'm back at the computer and I unistalled then resinstalled beyond the sword, and I still can only see (in the mods section) assets and two mods. I'm going to download the .rar file again, but I doubt things will turn out differently. If anyone knows why I can't see all of the mods or the .rar file when I open up beyond the swords mod file please tell me.

You need to unarchive the rar file. It's just a compressed file, you can't load it yet. Download 7z or Winrar to decompress it.

i mean I know that when I mean download I mean put the .rar into the file and then unarchive it. I mean I'll try again but the .rar that I want to unarchive doesn't show up in the file. According to the download it will finish in about 13 minutes so I'll tell you then if it works this time.

funny, the .rar shows up this time. I hope everything works.

*cries* more problems
It says 7-zip Diagnostic messages
I got an error at the end that said exactly:
can not open output file C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Cvilization 4\Beyond The Sword\Mods\RiseOfMankin...

It repeats that for a total of six times. I imagine that they are different but as you can see they are cut off and I can't expand it.

I am using "A New Dawn" modmod and have storms turned off like suggested. But turn speed is still very very slow. I cannot imagine what the average turn time is in late game. Any other settings that may help me raise the speed back up to earlier ROM versions???

You need to elaborate because your statement has some holes unless you explain yourself first :).

Reason?

On standard size, 11 civs so far (Have BarbCiv option on), Quick GameSpeed,
I calculated with my watch that fortunately have a stop timer from turns 360 to 365 (Industrial era) on AutoPlay.
The result is just four minutes and 12 seconds. That is fast for five rounds!

However, if you are referring to the interface, NOT turn time, then it is not Afforess' fault but rather how Civ4 is set up so far.

I am playing one of the standard earth maps with preset civs. It usually was alot quicker that is all. I am not blaiming anyone. :) I love this mod+modmod.

I was just wondering if any more of these effects (like storm) added lately slows down the game.

No, the opposite should be true about No Storms.

You need to explain exactly where it slows down because generally speaking, you shouldn't be having a slower game than vanilla RoM, period. Unless you explain exactly and where it slows down, ew can't understand what you mean.

I'm getting this error:

XML Error
tag: z ADER_BARBARIAN in Info class was incorrect
current XML file is: xml\GameInfo/CIV4ForceControlInfos.sml

I've got RoM 2.8 (patched to 2.81), and tried to install A New Dawn. This error occurs when I try to load the mod in BtS.

Any ideas?
