I don't know if waging a war in Ahanistan would be a smart thing to do.I senserely hope they give up Osama trashcan laden, if it would be proven that he was guilty.Seriously ,Isn't Afhanistan hell in terms of modern warfare? And maybe we better don't underestimate these fanatics.Who know's what a terror factor than can have on our modern live livving -used soldiers.
Besides ,even if we would take Afhanistan ,Would we find Osama himself?Could he maybe even escape to another America hating country? (like Iraq ,libya ,..)

And maybe we don't have to underestimate Osama.Who knows wich card's he holds in his hands.
I don't know ,but if you plan years on such an action ,havn't you planned to eventually do something with it too.I don't know ,maybe i'm a bit of a pessimist. But i'm afraid that this will just be a chapter in a long book unfolding now.

OK, I guess I'll make a few comments .

IMHO, war (by its very nature) is not "smart"... it is horrible, and that is what make it a thing to be avoided, except as a last resort.
I senserely hope they give up Osama trashcan laden, if it would be proven that he was guilty.

An interesting thing in your thought is the key word "guilty". The same facts (or evidence) will be interpreted based on ideology, nationality, religion, and maybe more. In the end, the US will have to simply decide, and act accordingly. It is not a world vote, though naturally, it would be helpful if even the radical nations would cast their prejudices aside (at least when it comes to expunging terrorism).

Yes. Operations in such regions of the world are quite difficult. Most Americans do not "blend in" with the local people or culture, either.

At least in the US military, "modern living" is not really a factor. We are trained, and no nation sets up a better infrastructure to support the conduct of war. We even bring airconditioned tents, hot water, and movies... along with guns and bullets, that is .
Besides ,even if we would take Afhanistan ,Would we find Osama himself?

We have no intention of "taking" Afganistan, or of killing its civilians (though there may be collateral casualties). And no, we are not going to get bin Laden in Afganistan (IMHO), so don't get your hopes up. But we are going to destroy the infrastructure that supports him. Yes, it can eventually be rebuilt... but our munitions plants can still churn out more bombs and bullets, too (funded by you, the US Taxpayer of course ).
Could he maybe even escape to another America hating country? (like Iraq ,libya ,..)

Most people probably do not not yet undertand the nature of this "new" war. What you suggest is exactly what we want to do. If he leaves, we've won the first battle! Oh, we'll take a clean kill, but that won't happen. They're ready for us even now.

What we will do is chase him out, one way or the other. This will cause him to communicate (he is hunkered down at the moment)... and we are very good at sniffing out and tracing communications. If he keeps isolated when he runs, the network will begin to suffer, and become vulnerable in other places... and we will strike in those places.

As long as we have an intelligent, patient man like George Bush in the White House, we will prevail. But if America should start spewing missiles and bombs every which way like the previous Administration did from 1993 to last December, the terrorists will ultimately prevail... and tens of thousands of weeping families will pay the bill for decades to come.

Several times in 1993 to 1996, possibly in 1998, and definately last December (2000), we had the clear military opportunity to cut the head off the terrorist snake. It would have required character and leadership to act, and sadly America's top civilian leader fell dismally (and we now know tragically) short. Be that as it may, yes, a stunned America and a resolute President Bush will rise to harvest the bitter fruits planted and nurtured in the Clinton garden during the last 8 years.
