IHT: Looking very good, all things considered. The French are up only one tech and have no more than 49% of the land.

IT: We finish our first panzer :love:

Turn 1 - 6 (1872 - 1882 AD) 4 Cavalries disbanded and one panzer part-rushed. 5 Panzers more on line.

IT: Panzer nr 7. The Maya finish Manhattan Project!

Turn 7 - 10 (1890 AD) 4 Panzers part-rushed. French start the Internet. I will now build a few flaks.

IT: Flak->flak.

Turn 11 (1892 AD) :sleep:

IT: Flak->flak. A part of our deals with France end.

Turn 12 (1894 AD) Lux tax to 10%.

IT: We renew the peace treaty with the Maya. Flak->Panzer.

Turn 13 (1896 AD) I cancel all our deals with France and declare war. I then get an Alliance vs France with the Maya for 12 gpt and Incense. Then I sell Computers to the Maya for wines, silks, horses, rubber, oil, uranium, Fascism, 1313 gold and 80 gpt. Panzer army created.

One Mech Inf, a TOW and 4 tanks are relined in Strasbourg. Panzer army kills 2 units and 3 other panzers do the rest. The city is razed. [7-0]

IT: bomber kills citizen. Other bomber is destroyed by a Flak. Tank can't beat our Mech Inf. 7 tanks appear. [9-0]

Turn 14 (1988 AD) Romand worker joins our city. It is back to size 20. Mech Inf. part rushed. 7 tanks are redlined and destroyed, but we lose a panzer there :(. Part of the French lands near our borders pillaged. [16-1]

IT: Tank kills mech Inf. A bomber misses the city. Mech inf->Panzer. France finishes SETI [16-2]

Turn 15 (1990 AD) Panzer part-rushed.

Siege of Grenoble:
-artillery redlines two TOWs
-Panzer kills the redlined TOWs and the city where my sister lives is razed, sorry... [18-2]

Artillery redlines 5 ships close to Berlin. The border is also almost completely pillaged now.

We are far better prepared than the previous war. It started slowly, because in the first turns of war I needed to make sure that we are relatively safe. I believe that we have enough Panzers (well, can we ever have enough of them?) and probalby need artillery and Mech Inf. Maybe also bombers, but they will probably be shot down easily. The Maya did well until now, but we can't depend on them. I assume that we have to keep up with the French and raze at least as many cities as they take from the Maya :)

The French ships are very dangerous. We should redline each and everyone of them. It might be worthwile to build one or two battleships to finish off redlined ships. We still have a few non-French, Maya, American workers. These should join the city whenever it drops below 20.

Do we need other techs? I guess we like to have Modern Armor, but imho we shouldn't steal from the French until we see that they have Ecology at least. And I expect that they dodn't want to talk very soon.

I am curious - what government is France?

How close is Paris? Will you start razing the old, well developed cities soon? How about only source of a luxury?
 
Good questions! I notice that France is in anarchy now, so they will probably switch from Democracy to Fascism soon. We are quite close to the old French core:

We certainly should go on a pillage mission, but first we have to make sure that our city is safe.

Ya, france was our nearest neighbor which is good but will make city taking harder at first.

Looks like we are doing pretty well so far. I think the Alliance will really help as well; we just have to be careful about the domination limit.

Chartres might make a good target. The farther the boats have to go back to heal, the fewer we will have to face each turn. We will also probably catch some of the boats healing in the town. I would build a destroyer rather than a battleship. It is more flexible in rance and can probably sink red-lined ships just as easily. Destroyers also have anti-air.

We don't have a lot of time to complete our goals. There are only 130 turns left in the game I believe. We can't proceeed at a leisurely pace. I don't know that we can afford much time to pillage.
 
We can only go for Chartres when we have pillaged all tiles near our border. We can't give them an easy way to Berlin. I agree with the pace. That's we I costantly part-rushed tanks. We have the money to get one panzer per turn. But we shouldn't focues on panzers alone. We need artillery and mech infs as well. That said, we probably can capture artillery.
 
I assume you upgraded the infrantry we did have to Mech Inf?

I would also be careful not to leave artillery uncovered on the coast like it appears in the screen shot. It is not impossible for a marine to land on the stack and disband our artillery - unlikely, but if it happened to enough Artillery, it could cost us the game.
 
microbe upgraded the infantry. I agree with the comment on the stack of artillery. It was there to hurt those ships. I could have choosen a panzer to cover it. Then again, if a marine would take it we would have it back a turn later on this spot.
 
So there is still hope it seems. :) The best way to deal with boats is bombers.

EDIT: WW could be very high. Maybe we should revolt to Monarchy at some point? Otherwise we need to build more happiness improvements and police station. Heck, we just need everything!

Chartres and Rheims might be good to destroy to get rid of some bombers.
 
Bombers vs destroyers could get expensive as destroyers have anti air. If we knock them to 1 hp it is probably worth it. It depends on the chance of being shot down.

BTW, has anyone ever figured out the chances of anti-air to shoot down? Is it some easy formula?

The best solution would be sufficient fortified carriers or battleships (High defense) to defend and heal vs the bombardment and destroyers to go out and kill any within range, but that would be a serious expendature of resources that we don't have.

[Edit: I also have not seen the AI land on 0 defense units even though they can. I think they allowed one to capture units by landing on them, but didn't program the AI to take advantage of this fact. I guess they mostly did it so for human vs human games one couldn't block off landings with a row of defenseless units.
