AG9 - OCC Conquest (Monarch)

We will have trouble with Germany due to distances involved. I would love to get proven wrong, but I think the forces down there are perhaps good enough for one more razing, and then it is quite a lot of turns before we can get more forces down there.

I suggest we keep some force down by the iron, and make sure Germany does not settle here, otherwise, we may as well make peace with them. ( Unless we want to fish against their archers/horsemen. )

War against India, with the Greek forces in the front, weakening both of them, as we prepare for our UU, would be something I preferred. Our UU is essential, as it takes quite a while for Medievals to get anywehere, and horsemen just does not cut it against Medievals/pikemen. We will lose them faster than we can replace them once our GA is over.

Also, note that you may want to save some money, as our income now is inflated by both GA and Greek payments.

Be sure to use up some forces before the costs of them hits.
Spare some horses if we are in sight of Chivalry.
If we plan to do some research, then perhaps pop in a library, so we do not waste so many beakers.

I am usually commercial when I play OCC, so I do not know if research is feasible when you are not. Thus far it seems like units do good in keeping us up in techs, with the drawback that we cannot chose for the AI what to research.

Sorry, I'm so busy I don't have time for this SG today nor tomorrow. :undecide: I have only time to play one SG, and I'm up in another one too... sorry.

We had a big party yesterday also... and I needed to wake up early today...:cringe: I'll propably fall asleep during my turns in the other SG's...:sleep:
 
IHT: I declare war on the Indians and sign a military alliance with Greece vs India for 15 gpt. Horse kills an Indian archer.

IT: Indian archer kills a horse. Germany horse kills a sword. India place a city next to one of our Med Infs. Greece moves the troops back to their lands.
Catapult->Library.

Turn 1 (260 AD) Med Inf kills spear in the new city, Elite horse kills the other spear and the city is destroyed. Vet Med Imnf kills a redlined Indian archer and promotes.
Elite horse kills redlines German horse. Rest of the troops is resting.

Turn 2 (270 AD) More troop movement. Luxury to 0%.

IT: German archer kills a redlined horse. The enemies are starting to get quite big. We urgently need Ansar warriors.

Turn 3 (280 AD) A Med Inf and a horse kill German archers. A med inf kills an Indian settler pair.

IT: Rhodes (Greece) founded near ivory.

Turn 4 (290 AD) A few German archer are killed by horses.

IT: Library finished. Next is a catapult.

Turn 5 (300 AD) Med inf kills spear and we raze a German city. Colonge is attacked by two vet horses and an elite sword. The elite sword generates a leader and we raze Cologne.

It make peace with Germany for Bonn and Republic.

Our research is pathetic as we would only win one turn on Monotheism at 100% science.

Turn 6, 7, 8, 9 (310, 320, 330, 340 AD) Regrouping

Turn 10 (350 AD) Three Med Infs and a horse knock on the door of Indus, which is built in former Sumeria.

Turn 11 (360 AD) One med inf is killed, but still we manage to kill two spear and an archer, to raze Indus.

IT: Athens finishes the Great Library.

Turn 12 (370 AD) Regrouping

IT: Greece settle Eritrea near us and grabs our iron :(

Turn 13 (380 AD) No war with Greece is possible. I am not happy with how it is going at the moment. It might have been better to decalre on Greece and get India to join...

Turn 14 (390 AD) We can't build Med Infs anymore, so I switch to horses.

Turn 15 (400 AD) Nothing much.

I decided against Repbulic, because I think that we would lose income for only a slight improvement of our science. I also don't know how to reach India now, except for that one city close to us. Maybe we should make peace afgter taking that and focus on the Greeks, to grab our iron back for instance. I think that it's good to keep on joining others into the wars.

Agree staying in Monarchy.

Losing the iron is needed trouble, that's why we should have kept Zabalam there. It's a lesson learned from AG6 that we let AI settle close to our colonies as a protection zone, now this OCC game again.

All 3 foes are quite big. Can we sign RoP with Greece and give India some more hits?

If we can take the iron towns and give to Greece, maybe we can still trade for it (except that we don't seem to have a trade route yet). We need to give India as much pain as possible before it gets its resourceless UU. I'm not worried about Greece that much.

We have a leader, which can form an MDI army. It may be the game breaker..
 
I've got it, I see I have five turns of peace with Greece and 10 more turns of peace with Germany. I will cancel the alliance and ask Gandhi to join us against the Greeks and reclaim our Iron.

Our next intermediate goal should be to eliminate Germany and form a land blockade keeping out settlers heading east. We will need to leave some MDI and Horses patroling to remove any unwelcome new settlers arriving by sea. Then with India's help, we will hammer away at the heart of Greece.

Successfully attack 3 cities with expanded borders or size 2 in one turn with horsemen attacking spears.......why not give me something hard to do. :p
 
You may need to take out only 1-2, and claim the third in a peace deal :)

I had the same thougt when I started Grimjack.

Quick update since I have not had as much time as I usually do over the lst day and an half.

I am putting our slaves to work bulding a road to Germany picking up some lux colonies along the way.

Here's the big news......In an effort to save Alex his massive GPT turn payment the 2 turns between our peace deal and the alliance, I go to renegotiate straight peace. He does not like that idea. He wants 70g for continued peace. Naturally that insult brings us immediatly to war. I was a couple of turns from positioning some healing troops but he had already sent his archers and warriors towards India. I'm next to 4 towns now and hopefully I will capture 3 or at least 2 and pick up a third from India's peace.

I'll have the turn completed late tonight or early tomorrow or for all the Europeans I'm playing with, early tomorrow morning or about mid-afternoon.

Unfortunatly it does. We would break a deal eather way. If I let him start the negotiations, that would tie us up with another 20 turns of peace with him. Granted breaking the deal is bad, but on the other hand, nobody likes us anyway.

Monotheism will arrive on my turn and there is only one more tech we need for our Ansars. We will be able to put a big enough hurt on Greece or Germay to take Chivalry or Engineering(for the river crossings) with peace. Our Iron and horses will be secure so ther is no need to trade for anything. I hoping we will be done before gunpowerder.
