Ag9-700AD, Short term plans, Get an army, Medium term plans Wipe the greeks.
With Ansars due in three I switch the Medieval build over to Horseman.
710 I let the cats play with the greeks while waiting for troops to get into position.
730 We have Chivalry, and I start a min science on Invention. I would rather use our money upgrading any surviving horses.
Two medievals make the battle for Rhodes short and sweet.
Two horsemen makes the battle for Ephesus short and sweet as well.
We lose a medieval in the battle for Herakleia, and we now own four cities,
and Uthman makes an army, soon to be filled with our glorious Ansars.
My thanks for the great setup, and rest assured I will sacrifice a beer to the RNG.
Hmm, our economy is not the best, as when we go 10% science and no lux, we have zero income.
740AD We kill a greek longbow who came to menace us.
IBT: Germany makes a city on right next to our gems, and we lose that lux.
We complete our first self built Ansar, and this together with the two horsemen I upgraded will be the army.
Greeks got Chivalry as well, they start Knights Templar. This is a wonder I actually want us to have, but I
could have a couple of Ansars instead. I will have to think about it.
750 We can get Knights Templar in 12 turns. This is four Ansars. I think the extra units will pay for themselves in the next war.
For now, I reason that the army will be enough to snatch the greeks, and we will have the Ansar production back on line when the Greek campaign is over.
I am at -5 gpt now that I reconfigured for shields.
IBT: Greeks tie up a city building Sistines.
760 I watch in glee as our army pillage a clean and pristine path through the greek lands, heading for a coastal sweep. ( While our Medievals with pike support go for the two big cities in the middle. )
The army ends with a flawless victory against a Hoplite, and we are in our GA. Income jumps from -10 to +7, Knights templar goes from 12 to 8 turns.
I try to get Invention from Germany in exchange for Monotheism, but they wont deal at any price I can offer.
IBT: I see the germans escort a leader home by the Greek capitol.
770 I build an Ivory colony, and we can lower lux to zero again, and we make 16 gpt.
I spend the last of our gold, upgrading our remaining horses to Ansars.
The army does its job, and Thessalonika is razed. Army is wounded though, and will heal a bit.
I spot barbcamps, and I realize a well placed Ansar could generate quite a bit of money busting camps.
IBT: Germany is insulted by Chivalry against Invention.
790 Hmm, what happened to 780 ??. Seige of Thessalonika reveals there are three Hoplites defending.
I am having some problems with the last Hoplite who retreats the elite horseman, kills our Elite swordsman, and heavily wounded our veteran Medieval.
I realize min science will take too long, and I save that money instead. We will have to use the

to get our techs.
Army is almost healed, but considering the difficulty in getting it, I will let it fight only when HPs are almost full.
810, Army is healed, and starts another pillaging move towards the next city. Our SoD is approaching the Greek capitol.
Siege will start in three turns.
820 Our army meets a particularly stubborn Hoplite, and redlines. Delphi is razed though, and hopefully the Trebuchet we captured will keep counterattackers away while we heal.
The Indians continue to be pathetic, and cannot recapture the city Germany took from them, and they make no progress at all against Greece.
IBT: Some barbarians appears from out of the fog, and kill a couple of workers heading home from the Greek front.
830 MOvement
IBT: An actual counter. A longbow emerges from Athens, and impale itself on our pikeman.
We complete Knights Templar, and I start building Ansars. Hmm, We can build Statue of Zeus in 6 turns. It is tempting, but I build Ansars anyway.
850 The siege of Athens starts, but all Catapults are ineffectual. Get two barbarian camps to get some more money.
IBT: One of our Medievals dies to a counter out of Athens, and it is do or die this turn I suspect, unless I want our forces to melt away. Withdrawal is not an option
860 Our army raze Sparta, and Greeks are a 4CC. Cats reveal there are at least four Hoplites in Athens, and my plans for razing it will rest a while. I will raze the rest of Greece instead, and pillage around Athens.
880 It is with great sadness I realize I have to disband a captured Trebuchet.
900 The SoD has reached Knossos, and bombardment reveals three regular Hoplites defending. This is better odds, and I risk our Medievals on a charge.
We lose one Medieval, but Knossos is razed. Our SoD needs healing now though. It is a good thing our Ansars have started reaching the fron in numbers now though.
I have left movement on the Army for the next player to decide on.
You can get peace with Greece this turn, and reduce him to a 1CC as well as get both his techs in the deal. I recommend we take this deal if possible.
( I have not checked how many turns we have left on the deal with India for MA. )
Germany have somehow grown to a monster, in spite of figting Indias Elephants. We might want to turn on India, and liberate that entire wing, instead of dealing with Germany. Germany might get devilishly hard to deal with while we do that though.
I do not have the memory for screen captures on this computer, and I would appreciate someone upploading a screenshot of the minimap at least so we can discuss strategy.
Here is the save
My apologies for hogging the GA
Ps, do not build Zeus, as access to Ivory is needed to get units from it.
Do note I am using an Ansar to guard the Ivory colony while waiting for the swordsman.
We could use a cathedral, in order to avoid lux tax even if we lose a luxury.
Consider it, should we score another leader, and after we get Heroic Epic, which should be the first to be rushed.
