Ok, so since there's a gazillion posts in this forum and searching never seems to help, can someone explain to me the age promotions? Is it only Jotnar who get them, or all civs?

The Seasoned/Renowned/Prominent/Legendary promotions are for all giants or trolls. This primarily includes jotnar, but it also includes the occasional instances where non-jotnar civs come to aquire Giants by some means.

There is, intentionally, no jotnar specific tag in there. Any giant owned by anyone will get them. The prerequisite is having the "GiantKin" racial promotion, or Trollkin which will be in the next patch.

If you are not jotnar, the only way to get giants is to build the Pact of the Nilhorn, which gives 3 hill giants, or to capture giants from the jotnar, using Command promotions or the Dominate spell.

Also, you should be able to gain them through the rare Pig event where you can sacrifice one of the rarer Animal resources for a single, underpowered Hill Giant. Of course, with Age promos this can become one powerful siege unit. :)

Are there other unit types that should be getting age-based promotions or auto-upgrades? I know that I've seen Wild Elephants that had higher than standard strengths, and I've definitely seen Wolves switch over to Wolf Packs. Who else in the Animal and Beast categories gets these advancements already? Are there civilization units that should behave more like this?

No unit should get the age promotion unless they have "Gaintkin" or (after next patch) "Trollkin.

Anyone else picturing 3 inch tall trolls with pink hair every time they thing Trollkin?

On the topic of advancing strength, what about werewolves? IIRC they were changed from vanilla FFH (I don't remember them getting a -1 strength then), but what are the levels/advantages. Feral, blooded...?

werewolves gain strength naturally from killing stuff. It's something like a % chance after any victory, to gain a point of strength.

Not until you said that.
