AK6, Revenge of The Nerds (CSC 1.22)

preflight (1550ad)

rushed a couple cavs, a market,

turn 1 (1555ad)

cancelled the expired alliance vs the Ottomans
Made peace with Ottomans, receiving 2 cities, WM, and 170g
I investigate a couple of Sumerian cities and want to wait a couple turns for more troops before declaring war.
lots of MM

ibt: lots of wltk days

turn 2 (1560ad)

worker actions

ibt: Persia and Ottomans signed MA against Sumeria

turn 3 (1565ad)

worker actions and shipping troops

ibt: we get a palace expanstion

turn 4 (1570ad)

Well, I was ready to go to war, but I wanted Sumeria to declare. I safely planted a spy. I was hoping to get caught.
So, I had the agent try to steal plans and it failed. The spy was executed and Sumeria declared war on us.

Razed Der and after it was razed, we claimed the spices by border expansion from SpiceGrabber.
Razed Sumer
Razed New Ur

turn 5 (1575ad)

Razed Ankara

ibt: Germany and Sumeria signed a trade embargo against us, lost a wounded army

turn 6 (1580ad)

pillaged Sumerian rubber

turn 7 (1585ad)

Razed Kish

turn 8 (1590ad)

Razed Kutha

turn 9 (1595ad)

Settled Tarsus2 to consolidate claims on spices

turn 10 (1600ad)

worker actions and moving troops towards Agade (Sumerian capital)

Notes:

There's a lot of fortified workers N of New Katna. I didn't want to get them too close to the border and have the Sumerians capture them.

There's artillary, armies, infantry and cavs in that stack heading to Agade. You should be able to bomb with art from current position and take it next turn.

At the beginning of my turns, the Sumerians were gaining quite a bit of cpt, but now they're down to about 100 to 150 cpt.

No new techs were learned during my turns. :(

Projected 20k date 1910.

I think with our razing and destroying of our opponenets cores, that we have destroyed their ability to research. Oh well. We still get plenty of cpt in Tarsaus.
Reminder skip me this next week please.

rrau - :goodjob:
therat - up
AK - methodically trying to figure out which SG I've forgotten about
romeothemonk - Off in the anti-tropics until 2/21/05
viper - lurking

got it, I think Romeo is right, we have beaten all AI's so badly that they can't afford research. that is good, maybe we can't build additional wonders etc, but we make sure nobody will launch spaceship before we get 20k and that's our goal isn't it.

Pre-turn
it's funny that we are on no research but are tech leader :D
extensive MM, try to match spt and builds, focus on ducts, harbor and markets for fringe cities

1. 1605AD
refining known by 3 Civ's, but not Sumer, that says a lot
while negotiating, found out we got no spies planted
1st steal tech safely from Persia. well we got all the oil in the world (4 sources, only Byz has 1 of their own). fail to plant a spy in Sumer and Germany, but succeed in Byz, Persia and Ottoman
army of Persia: 24 rifles + 1 guerilla
Ottoman: 41 inf + a few others
Byz: 48 inf + a few others
raze Sumer capital

2. 1610AD
raze another town
we have more than 100gpt unit cost, time to merge some natives, we got a lot of slaves now

IT Sumer and Ottoman sign peace

3. 1615AD
settle oil grabber, next to spice grabber. next town is Lagash, we raze it including Hanging Gardens, there goes the culture
get a MGL from a elite Cav
feel we have done enough harm to poor Sumer, go for peace and get Kua with it

4. 1620AD
found iron town and new spice grabber
rush 2 temples via disbanding units

5. 1625AD
6. 1630AD
7. 1635AD

IT Sumer and Persia sign peace

10. 1650AD
nothing much happened, except for MM, tried to rush buildings using new units, else the unit cost gets too high.
we make a healthy 1300gpt and have almost 20k in the bank. no new techs popped up.
a MGL and an empty armty are in Tarsus, MGL to be used for battlefield medicine, if AI ever decides to research that path
we have 55% territory and need not expand at all, unless we want 66%

Traded gems to persia and germany at gift prices.

If Theo gets pushy, there's a stack off her coast to go grab the furs.

Sumeria finally learned steel. Stole it on the last turn.

Started a war with Osman, have drawn most of his army into the open. Next player can finish killing them. Suggest we wipe out Osman if WW allows.

ok, the 3 tier finish sounds great to me too, at least something to spice things up here. else it's just a MM festival. sorry for disbanding units then to rush builds in fringes. but I guess we have overwhelming power. 1st Ottoman, then we should take out Byz to grab those furs (and oil)
next maybe Persia or Germany, last Sumer and grab their land for 66%. then we got to time everything right to have all 3 in one go.

I need a skip. RL was busy but primarily I've been having problems with C3C (it crashes when you enter the Domestic Advisor screen in the Industrial or Modern Ages. It happens every single time, too.) I guess it's possible to play without it, but way too difficult (it's a habit of mine to hit F1 all the time), I'd probably play like a warlord level player and I'd accidentally crash the game a dozen times or so in my turnset. I was told at another part of this forum that you can't fix it but you can work around it and prevent it, which I am trying to figure out how to do right now.
Edit: Now that I think about it, if this is Nerds, I should be able to fix it. But I can't.

AK could you attach your save? I can't see it because of my stupid computer "protecting itself". Thanks.

I did for you

preflight (1700ad)

looks ok. We have a ton of foreign workers

ibt:

Sumeria says move troops or DoW. I ask for RoP and he agrees.
Otto and Germany sign MA vs us
Byzantines and Germany signed trade embargo vs us

turn 1 (1705ad)

Razed Riza (Otto) (was on coal)
Rushed buildings and troops on German Island and drafted a couple infantry.
woke the ships by byzantines and divert them towards German island

turn 2 (1710ad)

Razed Izmit
failed safe steal of sanitation

turn 3 (1715ad)

Captured Sinop and kept it
Rush more troops on German island
Safely stole sanitation from Persia
Switched some builds to hospitals - will rush next turn

turn 4 (1720ad)

captured an ottoman city (can't recall name), sold off improvements and abandoned
Captured Mugla (ottoman), sold off improvements and abandoned
Captured and abandoned Leizpig (german)
Rushed hospitals

ibt: get notice to build Battlefield Medicine

turn 5 (1725ad)

switch Tarsus to Battlefield Medicine
Captured and kept Hannover (german)
Rushed more troops on German island

turn 6 (1730ad)

captured and razed Hamburg (german)
Captured and kept Urfa (ottoman)

turn 7 (1735ad)

war weariness is setting in. Lux to 10% and a lot of MM
Captured and kept Edrine (ottoman)
Captured and razed Bolu (ottoman)

ibt:

Built Battlefield Medicine in Tarsus
Osman tried to steal our world map, but failed

turn 8 (1740ad)

Captured and kept Kirklareli (ottoman)

turn 9 (1745ad)

captured and kept Istanbul (has Sun Tzu's)
razed Bremen (german)
I razed another ottoman city, but can't recall the name

ibt:

we got a palace expansion - it now is complete
we took a hard hit with pollution this turn

turn 10 (1750ad)

settled Harran2 to keep Sumeria from getting the rubber - they were building a colony or outpost there..
Razed an Ottoman city.

NOTES:

There's only 1 ottoman city left. I have a fleet heading there, but it will take several turns.

Sumeria's settling the former Ottoman sites. I think they need to be our next target

You should be able to eliminate Germany next turn

Several AI know Ironclads, but I never get this tech in C3C so I didn't steal it.
I
stanbul has almost 2% flip chance, so it's lightly garrisoned with troops right outside the city to retake it if it does flip.

We're currently at 60% world area.

It looks like there's a nice spot in the Byzantine tundra for a prison city. I'd leave persia until last, gift them the "prison city" before DoW on them and then eliminate all but the prison city. (There's a couple other spots that might work but one has oil and furs and the other has furs. I'd prefer to keep them resource and lux poor).

nice fightin'. I don't even give them a prison city. manuver a settler to a mountain and surround it. Then declare.

Therat is up. I'm on deck.

got it,

still, we need to wait a while to get cultural win. how many turns to go? hope we can destroy Ottoman, Germany and maybe Byz during my turns.
Sumer has to wait due to a 10 turn deal

Pre-turn
things look great we got money and are top

1. 1752AD
raze Stuttgart and Germany is gone

IT cancel deal with Persia

2. 1754AD
declare on Persia ( made sure our units are not within their border last turn), raze Heidelberg
raze another town, we are at 62% already, no more captures for a while

4. 1758AD
raze 2 more Persian cities
attack and take Cankiri, last ottoman town, get 600g
raze another Persian town, 3 more to go, then attack Byz

IT Sumer is settling every corner available, once our deal with them is up, we better get at them

9. 1768AD
take Persian capital, but lose a 3-Cav army

10. 1770AD
take Arabela, last persian city, and they are gone as well, kept city for fun

loaded armies with 3 units only to make them shipable, do not load with 4 else we can't get them on galleons
there are lots of units ready to attack Byz, 4 galleons loaded with stuff to go over and on 2nd island a lot too. left the fun to the next player
by the way, there is a 1 tiel island occupied by Sumer, I don't know how we want to get to that without the proper unit
no research no such unit
