All leader portraits

I think C5 is a Mongolian general or leader rather than Persian or Ottoman. The black patch in the top left appears to be a plume. The shape of the hat seems to me similar to a Mongolian hat.

Perhaps even Tamerlane/Timur, he was a Mongolian who founded the Timurid Empire and was a descendant of one of Genghis Khans Generals.

Genghis Khan has been shown as a Great General, and I just can't imagine them having anyone but him lead the Mongols if there's only 1 leader (for now). He basically IS the Mongol civilization.

He is THE ONLY REASON we ever talk about Mongolia. With out him, the Mongol Empire would be nothing.

Exactly. Many civs are more than just their empire...but the Mongols are literally only famous for their empire, which is Genghis' empire.

I dunno, I'd be all for a Mongolia led by Kublai.

Oh yeah, but would the masses? Again, Mongolia in particular IS Genghis. At least average users know something about France even if the leader is more obscure. What do people know about the Mongols? Just Genghis Khan.

Everyone on this forum knows who that is, but I don't think he's the best choice for the Mongols.

Eh, playing Genghis Kahn II on my Genesis got me interested in Kublai but Netflix's Marco Polo is doing a pretty good job at bringing knowledge of him to the uneducated masses.

Didn't Kubla Khan mostly rule China? I guess that if he was the leader the mongols world have some bonus to ruling occupied cities and absorbing scientific and cultural progress from defeated enemies. So maybe something like Assyria in civ 5, or maybe letting them build UU/UI from their defeated enemies?

First foreign ruler to fully conquer China. He also annexed Goryeo and vassalized Siam and Vietnam. His sphere of influence was primarily the Eastern part of the empire since his reign came after the Golden Horde split but he still had quite a bit of influence in Golden Horde politics. He was more administrative than Genghis and is known for embracing education. He opened a large number of public schools.

I think a bonus over occupied cities would be great. I also think a bonus to building science districts might be a nice turn for Mongolia as well.

Kublai led the Yuan dynasty of China the first foreign dynasty in China, I do believe, with the Manchu's Qing dynasty being another one.

There have been plenty of foreign dynasties in China, actually...

I would be happy to see Isabella of Portugal leading Spain in the game instead of Isabella of Castille, which has been appeared too many times in the Civilization series.

We have 22 pics, of which 19 were identified within about 2 days of the video. We know [or at least think we do] that there will be 18 civs in vanilla plus 1 (Aztecs) either at release, if preordered, or 90 days later if not. While we've pretty much confirmed the 19, anyone think maybe they just stuck 3 extra in to give us something to do until release?

With the apparent 2 leaders of Spain there is an easy answer. Isabella of Portugal was Married to Charles the V of Spain. Their Son was Philip the II. When Philip was a Boy Isabella of Portugal was regent of Spain in her Husband's (emperor of HRE) absence. I suggest they are BOTH the leader of Spain. This makes the leader list 21 not 22. I think the possibility of a 10 year old Philip along side his Mother, the regent of Spain would be an interesting and different leader.

Also.. If that is true then B5 might be Beatrice I countess of burgundy, Wife of Fredrick I. She was active at court and in politics. If there is one leader with 2 personalities... maybe there is 2 which makes our list 20 not 22.

In which case I propose 18 Civs + Aztec + 1st DLC IMO

We know about 4 DLC planned. So if all of them contain 1 civ, there are not enough pics. Of course, we don't know what's in each of them.

I don't know but the Byzantines should have either Alexios I Komnenos, or Basil II since Theodora ain't an option. In case none of you knew, when there was a revolt going on Justinian wanted to flee. He's a great conqueror, but obviously not the brightest Byzantine.

Finally someone else who thinks this is a legit possibility :D C5 could also be Wladyslaw, husband of Jadwiga and Coruler of Poland alongside her, making it 3 dual-leader screens, 1 DLC and 18 base game Civs. Perfection

There's also absolutely no reason to think that the DLC leaders have to be on this leader board. The Aztec leader might be a bit of temptation towards it, but we don't have a concrete pattern yet.

Besides that, the Vanilla game hasn't even launched yet. They are prolly making some bug fixes and balances. Later they will make the expansions and DLC.
