What do you mean by "actual modding support?" I am an author or contributor to over 90 Civ 6 mods and I am fine with the modding tools. It'd be nice to be able to use more assets, and it would have been nice to have more documentation or communication when the modding community was grappling with certain difficulties, but the Civ 6 modding scene is vibrant and the SDK is good.
I also don't really share any of the other complaints, except it'd be nice to see how many resource copies you have on the deal screen. But calling this game a "trainwreck" is reckless hyperbole. Civ 6 is a wonderful game.
Since you like Civ 6, it's quite likely that the type of modding you're doing doesn't change the core mechanics or AI behaviour as much as those who are disappointed with Civ 6 would like to change them.
Lol. They changed the name to DepotTest. I guess someone frowned on their shenanigans.
At least the first name wasn't "Boomgoestheracingraptor". See, no personal antagonism over your investigative journalism.
