All Quiet on the Civ Front

Eleanor, eh? Well, that isn't far off where I was thinking with Anjou. still an odd pick and not one I'd have chosen, personally, but I suppose if they are going to do a "one leader for two civs" thing like people are suggesting, I guess she'd be an okay pick to showcase it, as Catherine de Medici was for espionage.

EDIT: Also fair point, we're jumping the gun on authenticity.

Still, it's a fun game to play!

Imagine how many Civs could Austrian Emperors lead.

So Hungary, Austria, Croatia, Bosnia, Czechia, Slovenia, Serbia and Slovakia?

So if this expansion comes out in Feb 2019 does that mean we really had to go a full year without a balance/bug fix patch too? Yikes.

That's only 4 months away.

Seems like it. It's been a long year and I'm more than a tad annoyed at the lack of any other DLC civs or leaders to tide us over. Sure, there's mods, but outside of Sukritact, you can't really get the same feeling.

There was a Spring Developer Update in April 2018 so not a full year.

Just to clarify, was the alleged Aquitaine picture posted by the thread originator? It seems so different from the others artistically.

It was not in the original reddit thread. Hence why I asked.

Edit: it was posted in the thread at *theplacethatapparentlymaynotbenamedbutwhosenamestartswiththenumberfour* however...

R&F had a 10 week marketing period. If Vesuvius does as well, and Feb 14th is correct, then it should be announced the first week of December.

Edit: it was posted in the original ***** thread however...

***** stands for "four"chan in case anyone is wondering. It's considered a swear word on CFC!

Eleanor of Aquitaine would govern France or England?

Yeah the blonde lady was not in the first post on the leak thread but on a reply some posts below it.

Google image search cant find it and it looks a lot like civ vi concept art if you look at some examples..

Is there a slight chance this blonde Queen isn't Eleanor of Aquitaine and maybe an early medieval Queen (ex: Ostrogoth/Visigothic, Lombardic, Thuringian, etc)?

I'm leaning towards the Polynesian leader being Tongan....I look up Tongan chiefs on Google and one of the first results was an old illustration of one with a similar looking skirt....no interesting headdress though :(

At the same time, it's not that difficult to replicate a style if you know what you're doing.

And the face still looks sooooo much more Disney that the other leader concepts we have if you ask me.

You say that, but then half the leaders look very Pixar when rendered in 3D (Catherine's promotional image even gives her the Pixar "shifty eyebrow" look)

When I made Ingolfur (my avatar) people were saying he was giving them Frozen vibes. So I'm aware of the extent Civ leaders can look like a Pixar animation. Even given that, I'm not convinced this is quite a complete match for the style they're using in Civ 6. I could be totally wrong of course :p

What about the unit concept art. Disney or not Disney?

Those unit concepts are totally Disney. But the leaders feel slightly different IMHO. Look at the level of detail on that dress, those jewels. The face is stylised, but it isn't "PIXAR HUGE EYES".

Of course, they could be trying a new style. Or a different artist, or a whole lot of other things.

The first one looks the best, IMO. If only Firaxis portrayed Tamar like that...
