Since there's an Alt-Right, we need an Alt-Left to combat the Alt-Right. I'll be the founder. Does anyone want to join?

I have one. But this isn't the time nor place.

There already is an alt-left though and the alt-right came about as a reaction to it. So you can't be the founder of something that already exists.

What's the alt left?

Left just needs an inspiring message rather than being the boring, repressed 'good guys'.
I hear the conservatives I know complain that their people do not respond as a organically as the liberals do. If a conservative has a point, he/she makes it and sometimes someone else repeats it. On the left, any point is echoed from top to bottom. When I thought about it, it was the worst indictment I had yet heard of the left. They had forsaken independent thought in favor of a unified message.

That said, I think the future is in the Bernie brigade. They need to outlast the Clinton and Obama legions, but those are mostly old guys/gals. Bernie may be old, but his people are not.

I wanted to reply to this message but moveon.org won't give me any tips on how to respond.

There's absolutely a Regressive Left element. And the best the center-left can do is to try calling to our friends to come in out of the darkness.

The term "alt-left" has already been coined. By Sean Hannity. He has a formula that he uses: "the alt-left, propaganda,* destroy-Trump media." Watch him some time. He never uses the word "media"; it's always the "alt-left, propaganda, destroy-Trump media." When he started using it to smear the left, it seemed to me a tacit admission that he knows the "alt-right" are dangerous extremists. That is to say, "alt-" can only function as a prefix with assumed negative connotations if one recognizes that what is named by "alt-right" is a negative thing. At the root of his coinage is the stupidest knee-jerk partisanship: "If there's a negative development on our side, there just automatically must be an equivalent on yours."

So, to the OP, no, the last thing we need is an actual alt-left. At least, the last thing we need is anything labeled as such. Because it would come pre-tarred, and play into Hannity's framing.

*bothers me that he can't even use the adjective propagandistic, but that's a gripe for another time.

Leftists can be regressive too? What a great country of regressive freedom!

Will it be a happy ending?
Ahaha, either Freudian slip or autocorrect or both. Not sure if happy endings are PC. Probably depends on whether it's from a Chinese lady in the country under questionable circumstances or an 'empowered' white one paying for her college with blood, sweat and... :ack:
