Altered Flags I: Red Stars everywhere!

Ah well, I'll just use the current Dutch flag (Red, White, Blue Tricolor)

However, in the NES it is the 1800s and The Netherlands is a Republic, so the Dutch Republic's Flag I posted may be more realistic.

First of all the orange. I know it was used when the Netherlands were a republic in the Prinsenflag (the flag of which Zelet said he didn't want that)
He said he didn't want that flag, not the colours in it, or else the white in your current flag is just as fault don't you think? How else apart from the colour orange are the to flags related?

A Dutch Republic will drop this colour first change they get.
They had no qualms to make it there official flag though.

Second, the blue parts of the Dutch Lion are Red.
Meet the Dutch republic lion.

Like it or not the colour Orange is linked to the Netherlands, with our without the prince of orange. Just like the French are forever stuck with the Fleur-de-lis the Dutch are going to be linked to the colour of orange with or without the monarchy.

First of all; I assumed we were talking about a Republic in the (near) future.

Hmm, I believe we have some miscommication. I never meant to say your flag and the Prinsenvlag are to related. I was merely stating that the only time Orange was used in a flag of The Netherlands was in that flag.
They had no qualms to make it there official flag though.
True and why they chose that colour we will never know which is bugging the hell out of me...
Meet the Dutch republic lion.

true, well... partly true.
Judging from the link I assume you mean the Republic of the Seven United Provinces. However this is false. When the provinces became a Republic they choose as shield a Red lion of a Golden field.
The lion that you show is the lion of the Batavian Republic. This lion was established in 1802 by switching the Red and Gold.

The Lion I was refering to is this:

The current lion that has has the Red and Blue reversed.
Anyway, since Zelet told he wants a flag for 1800 I concede to your lion :)

I wasn't disputing the link between the colour orange and The Netherlands. I realize that this will likely stay... What I was disputing is the colour being used in the flag for the Republic.

Well, there is a flag for that era. We had the Batavian Republic for a while in that periode.
Their flag was this:

Which is basically our nowadays flag but with the Coat of Arms of the Batavian Republic which shows the Netherlands Maiden, the Lion and apparently an anchor

Alternate flags for a few countries

NPOo1.png

Vietnam: a possible design for a united democratic Vietnam; combining features of the North and South Vietnamese flags.

Burma: stars taken from the flag adopted at independence, colour scheme from the current flag (in turn taken from the flag used by the State of Burma), but I felt they are better arranged vertically.

Malaysia: basically took the current flag, changed blue to black (so now the colours are those from the flag of the Malayan Union) and reduced the stripes; could be a flag for a unitary Malaysian republic.

Thailand: took the plain red flag used until the mid-19th century, adding yellow in the canton to represent the monarchy, and the wheel to represent Buddhist kingship.
