Altered Maps V: The Molotov-Threadentropp Pact

Ok, i've been doing some work on Poland for EU3 WWM.

Before Paradox made the map horrible, I tried to make it better, but it still looks extremely innacurate. So I completely remade it:

Based it on these voivodships from pre-1993:

And I tried to transfer it to a screenshot:

Now, I gotta put it in game. I'll keep you guys posted on that, whether you care or not.

This thread moves too fast for me!

Here's mine.

I'm Upper Silesians. Some of my ancestors came from Brest area, and somewhere in what is now Ukraine. Don't know exactly though, Somewhere in Galicia, or northern Podolia. I believe the Russians deported his family to somewhere like Szczecin or something.

My Great Great Grandmother married some guy from Styria, Don't know if it was Northern (German) Styria or Southern (Slovene) Styria.

My Spanish side came from Galicia (the other one ) or nothern Spain, (Cantabria area). Elsewhere, Norwegians settled Normandy, and my ancestors went to Southern France a few centuries afterwards, before getting in possesion of a plantation in Haiti, where they became rich. Somewhere down the line someone messed with a black slave women and now I have some African genes. During the Haitian war of independence, my Grandfather escaped to Venezuela while probably the rest of his family was tortured/killed by Haitians, if not, they probably escaped to Colombia or Venezuela. Regardless, my Grandfather lost in contact with them.

Anyway, there my Grandfather met my Grandmother, a descendent from Galicia/Northern Spain immigrants to Venezuela.

Wow, that is incredible. And from now on I shall know you not as that Polish guy, but as that black guy!

@ Others: Thanks for sharing! Your origin stories are all very interesting. I'm kind of jelous; just about every branch of my family has the exact same history: Rhineland --> Ukraine --> Canada.
On second thought I guess I could have included parts of Saskatchewan and Hungary/Croatia/Slovenia in my map too.
Anyway, cool stuff!

Sure beats me, I would make a map, but we don't really need on with just Great Britain coloured in. English, not sure from where, and Scots from a variety of places.

I draw both, and I can draw a shockingly accurate map of Europe freehand, if I say so myself.

Also do imaginary ones now and again, which is inexcuseably nerdy but fun.

I know someone who can make a near perfect map of Australia using a squeeze-bottle of tomato sauce. He's even better at it if he's allowed to use a pen instead.

I can draw a fairly accurate map of the world (including national borders, capitals, some mountain ranges and rivers) with the exception of the northern coast of Canada (with all those peninsulas and islands).

that's a quick map for you, TLO.
My objections to your map were that Lodz was too far east, Sandomierz too far west and Sieradz too far north. Also, Gniezno is NE to Poznan, not SE

I find people who can't draw maps far more entertaining. Back in school a Nigerian classmate tried to draw Ireland and it was hilarious.

After the conclusion of the Second Anglo-Dutch war ended in overwhelming defeat for the English, the Colonies of New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connetecutt were ceded to the Dutch. Shortly thereafter Bacon's rebellion caused Meryland and the Western parts of Virginia and North Carolina to join New Netherlands in return for extra representation provided by the Dutch Republic. Over the next 50 years the promise of increased representation in new colonial congress and increased civil liberties promised by the Dutch caused the rest of the southern colonies to join the New American Netherlands.

The economic prosperity caused by the aquisition of the new colonies allowed the Dutch to reconquer Brazil from the Portuguese. After promising increased freedom for all those who wish to join them, Some surrounding Spanish Colonies decided to unify under the Dutch banner.

With her North and South American colonies, the Dutch Republic Became a superpower. Allying with Great Britain in the mid 18th century it gained even more territory, this time in Europe as well as well as North America. When the Prussians, allied with the French and Spanish, invaded the small kingdom of Saxony instigating the 8 years war. The dutch fought hard and with British, Swedish and Danish assistance fended off both the French and Prussians. After the Peace The Dutch and English divied up Frances northern teritories while Denmark and the Netherlands take parts of Western Prussia
After the 8 years war the North American colonies demanded equal rights and representation in the Dutch Parlement. The Parlament aproves a Bill that integrates the colonies into the greater Netherlands. Brazil was not integrated because the institution of slavery which was remnant from the Portugese period of rule was illegal in the Greater Netherlands. Eventually in 1820 Brazil was provided dominion status provided that a plan for removal of slavery would be drafted allowing compensation. Brazil abolished slavery in 1843 allowing it to Become part of the great Netherlands.

For the next 90 years the world went through a period of high culture and prosperity, with the invention of the Radio in Rotterdam in 1876, the telephone in 1882, the Airplain in 1884 and the assembly line in 1890, Dutch products and culture dominate the world. This all comes to an end when the great tulip craze of 1901 causes such an economic collapse that the entire Dutch empire is plunged into a depression. The depression spread all over the world but no one was hit harder then russia. The Russian empire was on the Brink of collapse when a Charismatic leader came to power, spouting populism and sabre rattling. In 1914 a great War Erupted between Russia and the Western world, which had came out of the depression 7 years earlier, costing millions of lives over 7 years. The Allies where garenteed victory when a Dutch project codenamed "Amsterdam" developed a bomb by spliting the atom.

Misc. Dutch South Africa is still in existance. Indonesia was a Dutch Possesion but it gained independance like in OTL after the great war. Russia concentrates more on the West then in OTL causeing it to not be as expansive in siberia.
