I like the idea of drying up the Mediterraean and flooding the Chinese coast. Erez, can you make that happen?

I think I got carried away :p ;)

P.S. the best part of doing this map was knowing that I just thrown bilions of people into the sea :D

DUDE!

You can't just sink Australia like that! I'm shocked and appalled! Otherwise, top stuff.

LOL....ur request destroyed half of china and most of its' major city..u mass murderer!

He's not the murdererer, blame Erez.

Well where should the extra water go, prey tell (alex)? Besides, admit it: China's overpopulated.;) :joke:

I was also considering sinking either Northern Europe, the western S. American coast, or the Middle East...

Sink the rest of siberia, they don't need all that land. (and off topic, when's update)

what you call mass murder is what i call a wonderful oppertunity- to see the minor chinese cultures that got wiped out, or asimilated develop- no telling what they may have ended up like! :D

I've been thinking on variations of this idea set... What if Africa pushes Northward so forcefully that the Med, the Red, AND the Black seas were cut off? What if a big chunk of Africa, the future Somali plate, tears up early, and shears off a portion of africa, ramming into Asia? What if Arabia slams more so into Asia, making mountains where the Persian gulf was? Even more far fetched, India getting slightly misplaced and so it ends up as an island? Any other interesting ideas?

if there were no horses it would be the middle kingdom of egypt that survives. IIRC, the Hyksos invaded during the 2nd intermediate era, not the 1st :).

btw, i think that would be a cool twist.

I don't think it's really different enough to truly influence events. Maybe do soem more damage.

You, fantasmo, are sadly Euro centrist due to the education of your modern day society. :p This configuration could lead to a large Subsaharan African civilization early on, a different looking Arabian civilization, a whole different spreading pattern for people. A continuous land bridge from Africa to Persia, no Sinai, and a large almost sea in the middle of Africa can make a big difference, even if they are not in Europe.

I'm not euro centirc. In fact, I much prefer Asia.

Oh, and to quote Alex:

If I didn't know you liked doing this, I'd swear you were stupid.

It has been made more grammatical and much prettier.

North King: I believe that if your map was how the world really looked like today or hundreds of years ago, that an African civlization would most likely have conquered the Arabian Peninsula. Egypt wouldn't have gone into Palestine, the Jews wouldn't have had an exodus, and if you believe in Judeo-Christian-Muslim beliefs, Moses would have had to cross a pretty large sea to reach the 'Promised Land.' The implications of such a change in world geography would be HUGE.

So huge that it our entire civlization would probably cease to exist. It is very hard to predict what would have happened, but it is for sure that we would be living in a totally, totally different world.

WOW! Great work Erez. Somebody BETTER start a NES with that map immediately, it might be the first NES where Xen and Alex might have to live with the fact that neither Western nor Far Eastern civilizations exist! Just to make the point clear to Xen, though, make a lake where Rome used to be. And another one in Beijing (though I think its sunken, so never mind).

Okay, lets stop sinking the world for a while. I suggest that we sink (sorry, sorry...) Australia and create a new landmass in the middle of the Indian Ocean (it looks rather empty to me, start it from Madagascar and stretch it to Seychelles and Maldives), while sinking some more parts of Africa and MAYBE just a bit of India (NK won't forgive me!). Result: Harappans escape to the much larger island of Ceylon, the "Indioceania" gives rise to several trading coastal empires that bring civilization to Subsaharan Africa, and Egyptians grow strong enough due to the trade to defeat the Hittites, and eventually the Persians, but eventually are stopped by the Greeks at Marathon.

As for horses, I think that it was because that they first appeared in the New World, and thus those that remained there stagnated in evolutipnary development, and thus failed to adopt to the Native Americans. Perhaps if they originated in Mongolia, this could have been turned around. And while I doubt "horsocamels" will appear, I believe that camels will still help the situation out somewhat... in the desert areas. So the civilizations everywhere will be more endurable, and will slowly evolve rather then change rapidly as in OTL. In The Americas, though, I expect the situation to be turned around. While South America will not be seriously affected (not DIRECTLY, ofcourse. As soon as serious maritime trade appears, those will change greatly as well...). I expect that the first civilizations will appear in Mexico and near Mississippi, on the American east coast I could also expect some later rise of civilization, and there is possibility for a "Californian Empire". Though to get that, we'll need to get camels there as well. And as long as we're at it, why not let the mamoths survive?

Good idea thus far...

and MAYBE just a bit of India

HOW DARE YOU EVEN SUGGEST IT!!??

(NK won't forgive me!).

DARN RIGHT! :p

Sounds good...

HOW DARE YOU EVEN SUGGEST IT!!??

Hey, its for the sake of saving the Harappans!

I honestly hope that somebody starts a NES with either of the world maps created/suggested so far. I'd like to play in any of them! (though my favorite is erez's second one, as I already have the general an idea for an Asian island-based city-state)
