Alternate Timeline Building Experiment, v1.0

:( I hadn't planned on getting dragged away from the computer all afternoon!

Also, It's Tiandishi. You spelled it wrong on the map. :p

Well met, Sarvonia. But the day is Amestris'!

Amestris

Priorities: Organization, Expansion

The Eastern Amestrian tribes will continue to expand going further east.

The Western Amestrian tribes will settle down, organizing a bit more and beginning to tame the lands.

@Ninja Dude, I notice your culture now has part-control of the two biggest empires, nice job

Thank you Daft. when you let your culture slowly invade others', stuff like that happens.:mischief:

Priorities!

Kaj Empire: Rulers begin to become rather nervous and weary of other empires and kingdoms. Defenses will be made incase of foriegn invasion. Great walls and forts will be constructed to preserve the glory of the Kaj! Also, start converting to Syhinism.

Kraman Empire: Large, proffesional armies will start to be raised. Not for defense, like in the case of the Kaj Empire, but for conquest. Large armies will march south to attempt to conquer Utuap Chiefdoms and some Khaldi Chiefdoms. Give Iphas permission to conquer up north.

Krilik chiefdoms: Move south, raiding the city-states to the south. Only attack in large numbers, perhaps even allying with other cultures to bring down the city states.

Syhin State: Continue to spread the Syhin religion across Asia and India. Never engage in war. If another country threatens the Syhin, threaten them with eternal damnation.

Important People:

Jevsko the Shieldhearted: Emperor that sparks the whole craze of defending the Kaj's glory "from primitive peoples". While he was alive many walls built had his face on them. So when barbarians attacked cities, they saw the emperor guarding his cities.

Fyisoli the Teacher: Preached knowledge to the extreme in Syhin culture. He even when so far as to start schools to teach people to read and write. Fyisoli himself tried to keep records of what was happening in the world around him, thus leading to rich knowledge of the time period he lived in.

Sarvonia

Priorities: Militarism, Civilization

Pressure from Amestris, to the north, will cause many Sarvonians to migrate southwards, starting off a domino effect, with the end result of tens of thousands of Sarvonians crashing southwards into their neighbours.

Of course, some Sarvonians will stubbornly hold out in the north, but they are a minority.

A Warlord named Velosk will lead his tribe, the Sevak, into Crimea, taking over the Pelonar Colony and gaining civilization from it, settling down and founding a kingdom.

A Chief named Felesy will lead his tribe, the Zevon, further south into the Balkans, crushing all in his path, possibly inheriting civilization from the locals. Other Zevon groups may attack the Pelonars.

A less orderly migration will be that of the Garak tribe, which will slowly but surely flood its way through the Caucasus.

Less well-documented are the Sarvonian peoples' advances agaisnt other barbarian cultures. In leaving the north, many Sarvonians chose to move towards Asia. Others, in the western extremes, advanced against the Olan and Krilik peoples.

Overall, it is a time of great migrations.

Or to be simple? MOVE ANYWHERE BUT NORTH. ;)

We have been beaten back for the time being. Seeing as you have no plans to attack southwards, it seems that we may have finally developed a stable cultural border.

EDIT: Altered this a bit.

Pargian Colonies- Priorities:
1: A tradition is developed of rejecting the divinity of Pargian Kings
2: The creation of a powerful fleet

Pargia- Priorities:
1: Prevention of loss of the core terrortories (Egypt minus Sinai)
2: Failed attempt to prevent the growth of the tradition rejecting the divinity of Pargian Kings in the colonies, while confining it to them

Potential Great Leaders:

Pargian Colonies- Tesnarn:
Tesnarn's rallying and oratory against Pargia led to the rejection of the Pargian King's divine status. He was a major force in creating a cultural rift betwen Pargia and it's colonies.

Pargian Colonies- Chandeg:
A man whose oratory allowed for the advocation of naval buildup, and strongly agitated for the creation of a common colonial navy. Thanks to him, the colonies would consider their navy a matter of great importance.

Pargia- General Kran:
A general whose emphasis upon caution and avoiding battle, while preventing weaknesses the enemy can exploit, gives him the ability to make long and indescisive wars when greatly outmatched.

Pargia- King Wen:
A King whose use of spies and diplomacy to create unjustified paranoia is unmatched.

@Daftpanzer - No problem, and regarding the specific-ness in my priorities, well, I can't help it. I have no problem that nothing goes especially as I was planning :) I will not be detailed this time though, and will be the last order set for some time, as I will be on vacation. Please hold my nations NPC'ed but reserved. :)

Priorities:

Yiphesh Kingdom
1) Stay somehow within the borders of the nation, avoid expansion by warfare. Expand northeast.
2) Trade is to be established with trading posts being created at the coasts on the Black Sea and throughout the Mediterranean - if possible, reach Gibraltar.
Great Men - Imuldu, trader and sailor. Writes a number of scrolls about the peoples in the Mediterranean. Tatarks, priest. Is renowned to cure wounds and illness, but is killed of by king Human because a revolt happens in northen Yiphesh, supporting him.

Iphas Kingdom (Vassals of Kraman Empire)
1) Support the Kraman Empire with military efforts - peasant armies mostly.
2) Build puny monuments of stone in the style of Kraman Imperial monuments.
Great men - king Aggeartu is terribly unskilled and unwise, and also a tyrant, and he ruins the nation.

Utuap Kingdoms
1) This.....is......SPART**urgh*UTUAP! There are integrated horseback traditions in the area, makin the horseback riders of Utuap more effecient than the legions of Kraman. They have mostly cavalry armies with no infantry. Defend against Kraman Empire, simply, and do it wisely BUT only do a Pericles' war, not an Alexander.
2) Unite several of the unstructured noble factions under one banner, making the Utuapi area much more powerful.
Great men - General Axistor leads the battle against Kraman while Yutaq unites several of the tribes.

I hope this will continue smoothly until my return! So long :wavey:

The Kurzan peoples bordering the Sai-Hsin Kurzan will embark on a generations-long westwards migration because of some religious imperative.

The Xanto focus their attention on raiding the new Amache and Makota Tribes in an attempt to drive them out of their ancestral lands. Their fierce fighting ability, honed by centuries of raiding the Panta, and more advanced weapons help them towards this goal.

A great chief amongst the Panta, now without the need to focus on supressing Xanto raids, is able to embark upon a campaign of unification of the individual chiefdoms. He succeeds in the Southern Chiefdoms, while the Northern ones collapse in the vice of his advance from the South and the Makota being driven East by the Xanto. He sets his new kingdom's goal as the reunification of all ancient Xanto peoples from the East coast to the rocky mountains.

The Nanto, an offshoot of the Panta displaced by Xanto raiders, turn to the sea for their sustenance as the limited agricultural viability in Florida stymies their growth.

The "Lost Tribes" of the Xanto, displaced high into the Rockies centuries ago, have become mystics and monument-builders. Their magnificent obelisks dot the high mountain peaks where they believe they can become closer to the stars, which they believe to be the many eyes of a god. They make first contact with the Washagon Tribes at this time, interact little other than occasional barter.

And just in general: please pay some more attention to North America! It doesn't have to be a primitive backwater in this version of history ;)

The Zul are still exploring, spreading their civilization as far as the Persian Gulf and India.

Meanwhile, the Hom Civilization has been continuing its rapid expansion on Hom and has been learning how to create the "magic stone" (iron) that the Zuru colony has.

The Zuru have been employing the use of the magic stone to conquer its way to the Great Ocean (Indian Ocean).

Mavan Kingdom
Kings of the next era are focused on the domination of the Italian Peninsula. Building alliances as needed to ensure its complete domination.

State Sponsored Piracy is encouraged to secure extra funds traveling to Mavan Enemies or potential Enemies.

Maitan City-States

City-States warring until a great leader from one of the states unifies the Peninsula against larger surrounding threats from the east and north.

Thanks again for all the contributions to this :D

I don't feel like updating this tonight. I'll hopefully be able to update tomorrow (Sunday), possibly a little earlier than usual though.

Also, there is a huge major fatal disaster with the last map: Iphas kingdom was supposed to be green, to represent pwnage by Kraman Empire. The light orange areas are meant to be vassals of Pargia. I've uploaded a new map, cos im obsessive like that.

@Ninja Dude, the light green areas like the Ummite city-states are already vassal areas of the Kraman empire and don't really need to be conquered. Sorry that wasn't clear. If you wish to send new instructions you are welcome to do so. Also I don't expect you to pay attention to all of the factions of your culture if you don't want to, I realise there is alot of them now!

@Luckymoose, I forgot to mention the rise of the monotheist religion of Waina, in the Jornmarin kingdoms. There could be religious wars against the spread of Syhin religion.

My apologies, our historians have been executed and I assure you this will not happen again!

True, but I think there are some good reasons why urban civilization didn't develop early in north america. Up till now I didn't want to divert too far from real history. But from now on I can see developments happening.

Okies, the Kurzan are now under your authoritah. I didn't think you were still interested in the Smarans, so they kinda got assimilated by the Maitan culture.

If the city states are already my vassals, just exclude them from my hit list. I'm still going to be attacking the southern chiefdoms and tribes.

Basicly, anyone under the Kraman Empire's protection is not going to be attacked.

Good, since I will probably miss today too. Being dragged elsewhere again. I'll get orders in when I can!

Assuming you aren't taking a break, where is the actual update?

OK, I'm starting the update now. To be on the safe side, I'll say it'll be posted in five hours from the time of this post.

Time to get last minute input in!

Tianshi
-Led by the legendarily short warrior-chief rather ignominiously named Duanbie (Short Turtle), he begins a massive quest of destabilization on behalf of the Tianshi against their northern neighbors, the Wucheng and Yueren. His nickname comes from the fact that he was said to have so much combat prowess that blows glanced off his sword like ripostes on a turtle's back. Of course, just like how a turtle has a soft underbelly, he too is not immortal and he is killed by a stray arrow before the culmination of his quests.

The Tianshi at this time are things of legend, even to their brothers back in the Tiandishi Kingdom. They are said to be savage and looked down upon slightly by the more cultural elite. However, their combat ability remained incredibly useful--because the Tianshi were so belligerent, they could be relied on to dispatch any enemies, real or imagined, around for miles, leaving the Tiandishi to concentrate on interesting things, such as monuments and buildings and farming and more shiny metals better than bronze and such.

Tiandishi
-Tiandizi (Son of Heaven and Earth Banmo; Sovereign Great Sword) embarks on the first true prolonged and significant cultural development of the Tiandishi. He decides that imitation is the highest form of flattery and adopts the Yueren language for his people, although with rampant mispronunciation of words. He is also seized with a desire, following reports from the Tianshi warriors pillaging cities and whatnot, to build grand monuments for no apparent reason too. The Moon People couldn't be better than him at this, could they? There was no way. He would have to put them down.

So, he decided to construct the Gujian Changcheng (Solid Unyielding Long Wall). In reality the wall wasn't really that long or that amazing, but it did manage to encircle the capital city of Mushi (Tent City), by long a misnomer and a good bit of the surrounding countryside. From what this was supposed to defend, it's not sure, and the people probably felt that they were building something incredibly pointless. Still, Banmo insisted that this was to be a stalwart defense against the invaders, who weren't exactly on the horizon.

-Xueqishi Xingfu (Bloodrider Blessed Wind), rather tired of just what he saw as stealing another language, decided to develop his own (at this point I should note that Bloodrider by now has gone to just signify aristocracy, rather than an actual warrior.) Taking the scripts of the Yueren, he decided to modify them a bit. Rather than use confining characters that, when written, made language too rigid, he substituted the native Tiandishi/Tianshi languages and mechanics for conjugation, entwining the two languages into a new, unique one. He also developed a simplified phonetic system to write shorthand, making the language far more accessible than it had been before.

(Note: The above all assumes that the Yueren script is like Chinese.)

I like the premise of this, but it feels a little too late to jump in. Therefore, I've subscribed in order to keep an eye on things.
