I have read most of this thread but not all, sorry if I repeat.
After finding a way to email Amazon (through several screens along the lines, "something's wrong with my order"), I did. I didn't threaten but said I hadn't had a reason to complain previously and that I'd like an update (my estimated shipping date had passed w/o shipment).
They return emailed by the next morning, the results: shipment moved back to Halloween/Nov.1... shipping costs dropped (2day) and overnight shipping promised. Tough though, it's effectively super saver shipping (or worse). Think I'll cancel, suck it up and buy the non-preorder.
In any case, if its an option that appeals to someone else then I hope this helps.
