American moral values: example to the world?

For my entire life, I've been exposed to little things here and there confirming the belief that Americans are inherently moral and that, as a nation, in international relations, we are helpful to the world; we are much more good than bad. We were examples to the world.

Because of the Iraq war, constant scandals by our government, constant scandals committed by Americans abroad, and the occasional calls for "nuke 'em" from my fellow Americans that I've come to the conclusion that Americans are NOT inherently more moral than people elsewhere. There are other things too, but it's really the Iraq war that turned my opinion around. I've also come to realize that Americans NEVER WERE more moral than people elsewhere.

So, how about you?

Being anti-American is immoral, so if a non-American thinks that they are more moral than the typical American or that that their country is more moral than America, then they are anti-American and thus immoral and prove that Americans are more moral than everybody else since everybody else either acknowledges America's moral superiority or are immoral for being anti-American.

The mere fact that our governmental scandals get reported makes us better than many nations. Even when we go to war we usually do it under the guise of setting up democracy sure it doesn't always work, but at least we had decent intentions. I say we lean toward the good as opposed to the bad.

It's dangerous to impose Americanism to the world because it is inconsistent and has lots of things on debate; it's more dangerous to unify Americanism because it needs to transform US to a dictatorship first.

American morale values are no better or worse than those of most other western countries. Some values, individually, the american are better on ; other values, individually, the american are worse on ; in the end, it all average out.

Americans are no more or less moral than any other people in the world.

I think there are a few things we've definitely got right, like our commitment to civil liberties and sexual equality (though there are exceptions to that generalization, most Americans stand for these things). There are a few things we've royally clucked up, like our shameful consumerism. It would be absurd to try to say any particular group is more or less moral than another. Though I suppose there are monasteries that are pretty immaculate, morally, no society is any better than another.

Then, I'm the chick who wants to overcome this nonsense nation-state mentality and get back to free-for-all tribalism.
