I strike again. This is the second time I ask the good citizens to vote on this. If it does not pass, I'll probablly make a poll soon enough again.

Please note that this is a general ammendment, I'm not putting out rules here to ammend exactly what they will be. I want the citizen's opinion. There is no judiciary (thank god) in the rpg, so we won't have to worry about that.

This is asking to ammend the rules, for a need based economy.

Please refer to the discussion thread on this

Poll will end in three days. Majority wins. (Abstain votes are counted in percentages, so I don't go by those.)

Why isnt this public...

//joking

Can you explain it a bit more Ice. My issues with it is we dont have enough people to do it.

a basic explanation would be good im so drained from revision that i have no idea what you mean :D

Oh, truely sorry. I have had so much going on in RL right now, that I haven't been devoting as much time as I used to. I will post a draft and in depth explanation in a few hours.

Here is what it would look like:

Spoiler :
Office of Economic Regulations

Part 1: Production Regulations
Large Goods-
House: Require 50 Slacks of timber and 15 pounds of metal. Requires 2 labor.
Temple: Require 40 Slacks of timber and 5 pounds of metal. Requires 2 labor.
Wall: Require 25 pounds of stone. Requires 1 labor.
Palace: Require 80 slacks of timber and 35 pounds of metal and 20 pounds of gold. Requires 4 labor.
etc.

Small Goods-
Bow and arrow: Requires 1 slack of timber.
Hunting knife: Requires 1/2 pound of metal.
etc.

Part 2: New Taxation
Suppliers taxed 35%
Services taxed 5%

Part 3: Government Supplies and Labor
If there is a supplier business, the government will sell the supplies sold by said business 250% of the reasonable cost, allowing private business to make money, but never exploit as a monopoly.

If there is no supplier business, for a certain supply regulated, the government will sell said supply for it's reasonable cost until a supplier business for said supply is open.

The government will also provide manual labor for any kind at a high cost. It is encouraged that you higher your own manual labor.

1 slack of timber: 7 Gold
1 pound of metal: 5 Gold
1 pound of gold: 10 Gold
*The above prices are the prices if there is a supplier business for those. (Obviously they would be ajusted if there is no supplier buiness.

1 manunal laborer: 10 gold per job

So it creates a more need-based economy. All prices above were used as examples, just random numbers. Non-suplier business would be taxed nothing, as long as they have to buy from a supplier to sell their products. Service business would maintain it's normal tax and supplier business would be taxed heavily because it will always be assumed that they have everything in stock.

It works in theory i suppose and im guesing you mean hire:)

how would this analogy work for my pub though, its not like it makes much money or sells things worth that much.

I actually prefer my Do It Yourself idea above the idea of a governement ruling the total economy (see other thread about this topic)

mybiggest problem with this is we already have established business...if it was need based i would have went into a different industry.

I have actually loss much interest in the RPG and will be rarely active until thigns pick up...if ever.

What Ice and Robboo said.

Though, I believe that if it is going to pick up, this economic idea is surely not the way to do it.

I propose we beg thunderfall again for an anouncement.
Also, sending PMS to people currently in the DemoGam to try and remind them why they joined. I dont just mean the RPG either. I think that the best way to get members is to target current people who are active and inactive in teh actual game. Also a way of encurageing the politiacl parties taht were big in the begining would be nice. Possibly giving tax breaks to companies that support parties, or even giving money to support the parties. Free land give aways could help spark an interest, and alos a simplification of the RPG. That way people who want to join dont feel that they have to read and understand tons of buercratic horse ****. Honestly, the RPg is turining into way to much of a beurocratic mad house to keep people willing to do stuff that makes the game interesting. Who honestly wants to set up a company when they first have to get land, and a building, and then get suppliers, then higher employes, and finally turn in a form of all the money that they make and include the amount of tax to be withdrawn ant then the amount paid to the suppliers? Tehn supplier companies have to turn in forms to the goverment that include taxes. The worst part is taht there is no standard tax, all the diferent types of companies ahave different taxes assigned to them. The only thing that is right with the whole system is that a persons first company is free.

How would I fix this?
Well, I say taht we should simplify the economic sysstem, not complicate it. Also we should set up a pool of free land, preferably in new territorry and land that is no more then 1 food and 1 sheild. We then set it up an a first come first turn basis. Also I would have land purchaseable more frequently, 5 turn chats is way to long of a time. I say that every other turn chat is a much better idea. But in doing that we should put less plots on the market at a time. This would encourage bidding on plots, which as we know is yet to have happened. There should also be more of an advantage to owning plots besides the GPTC. What I do not know, but something to encurage large amounts of land to be purchased. Then set the economy up so that reselling your land is a worth while thing.

The only way to keep the RPG alive and effecting the actual DemoGame is to strongly increase the activeness of Parties. This could be done by creating economic advantages to being an active member of said party and by increaseing their tie in with the rest of the DemoGame.

What does all this mean?
It means taht we need to rewrite the Economic system to be both short and effective.
It means that we need to advertise the system to the DemoGame members, and to non-demogame members.
I means taht we need to increase relations between the DemoGame and the RPG
And finally it means that we need to sevearly increase teh amount of land sold and used.

Any ideas?

Seems a good idea future, about the land thing though it was said to be 5 turn chats because with a small group of people we didnt want a few persons creating a monopoloy over it if others arrived.

I undersatnd teh worry with that, but the amount of time it takes for new lad to go on sale is ridiculous.

Also I really think that if free land was to be given away it should be in the "frontier" that way we can help fill in the amount of land sold.
