Amra's ALH Modpack for v1.61 (using Animated Leaderheads)

This is a gr8 mod !! All the personnal tweeks really make for entertaining game play. Thx for sharing !!!

i must admit i cant figure out all the little icons u added above the info box. Any chance u could list them and what each does ? Most strike me as niceties from previous versions of civ, but i'm old and can't remember all of their functions.

Anyway, thx again for making the game more fun for each of us ! It's much appreciated :)

It sounds like you are talking about the Plot List Enhancement icons. If that is the case, you should be able to find out more info on this thread.

Just in case you haven't noticed some of the posts on this thread, I have been having random crashes to the desktop problems with my modpack ever since upgrading to v1.61. In an effort to figure it out, I have removed all the interface changes (including the PLE mod) in a new version that I and some others have been testing this weekend. So far it is stable which means that I was on the right track with the problem being one or more interface changes not liking the 1.61 patch.

If you are having any of the crashes, I hope to have a link to a stable version of my modpack posted on the first page sometime soon.

So far the beta 1.71 version isnt crashing in multiplayer and it is my second game. :D
Thanks for testing it :goodjob:

I think the version 1.71 BETA is stable which leads me to the opinion that the problem was with some python coding that I merged in or the resources. I am testing version 1.72 on my computer which adds the resources, GP Mod & Sevopedia back in. IF (Big IF) I don't get any CTD's this week, then I hope to post a link on the first page by next weekend. Hope to...

I look forward to the resources also. :king:

And we can conclude the CTD in single player were related to the out of synch in multiplayer, which now at this time seems to be resolved. :D

Just posted some info for version 1.72 on the first page. I have uploaded it to 3D Downloads but do not have a link yet. I expect to have the link later in the day on Friday 05/26/06. Obviously, I will post it as soon as I have it.

In case anyone has not been following this thread, I will try to recap what has happened with this modpack in as few words as possible.

When I updated the modpack to v1.61, I started experiencing random crashes to the desktop without any clues as to why. A few things pointed to either a python mod that was incompatible with Civ4 v1.61 or to a problem with the resources that I had added in from Greenmod.

In order to verify this, I stripped the interface mods and resources out then tested the mod with just the new civs & units. Several people helped (:worship:BIG thanks to them all:worship:) and we determined that the modpack was stable with just the civs & units.

I then added back in the resources & only 2 python mods (GP mod & Sevopedia). Unfortunately the CTD problem reappeared for me in 2 out of 3 games. Each time it happened, it involved one of the new resources (a unit moved into a square with a resource & the second time, I moused over a new resource). I was able to reload a savegame each time and continue, however.

Anyway, after that, I took a look at Sevomod and noticed that he only has 1 new resource (ancient temples) that involves art files included with the game. I then removed all new resources but the ancient temples and have played 2 games without any crashes. I don't have anymore time to test over the weekend so I am releasing this version and trust that everyone will let me know if there are any problems.

Please note that version 1.72 has substantially less interface mods merged in. I hope to fix that with the next version (See my Future Plans on page 1).

This version does have one new civ (Tibet) and a LOT of new units since version 1.61 however. See the Version History for all the gory details.

Can I go to sleep now?

PS: Check out the PDF readme in the first post & let me know what you think & what other info you would like to see in it. I think it is coming along nicely and makes this modpack look somewhat professional. That, and it was fun to do :D

Finally, some good news!
Since the new patch 1.61, "everyone" is trying to stabilize their MOD.
Yours is "one of" my favorites!
So, each day, I :religion:

In the new version, at least, the desert windmills are added. A luck!
I'll test your MOD as soon as you release it.
Thank you Amra for your work!
:)

Thanks Toys-R-Us,

Just got home from work. The link has been posted on page 1. :D

Im in the Que now 1 min to download... I look forward to testing this with my friends online. :D
Thanks, I'm hopeful that the CTD problem was something to do with the new resource graphics & version 1.61. I can live without them if the modpack is now stable. Anyway, the ancient temples were the coolest & they are still in there.:D

Hey Amra. I love the idea of your mod as I do really enjoy the Original Civ 4 Gameplay. Downloading now and by the way the new civs look good.

Alot of my leaderheads have the same original colours then your edited ones. Any reason why?
When reskinning the leaderheads, there are 2 graphic files to edit. One for video cards with shader capabilities (most newer cards within about the last 3 years have this ability) and one graphic file that already has 3D shading applied. I have only edited the first file for each leaderhead. To edit both would be way too time consuming, sorry. However, a couple of the leaderheads from other people had both files reskinned such as Vittorio.

As a point of reference, I have a 3 year old Radeon 9700 Pro that displays the leaderheads appropriately. If I may ask, what type of video card do you have? You are the first person who has mentioned anything about the leaderheads looking the same as the original ones.

If you wouldn't mind testing something for me, can you check Vittorio (Italy) to see if he displays correctly, then check maybe Conan (I did only the one file on him)? If Vittorio is okay & Conan is not, then we can confirm that it is something to do with your video card.:(

Thanks for your help.

Best README ever!
Thanks guys! I had fun (yeah, I'm weird) doing it and I think it helps people get a better look at the modpack before they commit to a 116MB download. :D

128mb Nvidia mx4000. an example is Henrique is meant to be wearing grey but in my game he's wearing blue. last example Mary Stuart is meant to be wearing red, in my game she is green like Catherine. Oh and also in my game the eyes look weird on most of the new leaders.

Are you using low resolutions in the graphics options? I've seen the eye problem when using that setting. if so, try switching that and see what happens.

I have been using low resolutions from the beginning
